Chapter 65: Stabbed in the back (2)

When they arrived, they couldn’t help feeling that something was strange.

The normal women who had been a part of the caravan just thought that it was a bit quiet.

However, it was different for the guards that had been a part of the caravan.

The moment that they arrived at the headquarters, they could tell that it wasn’t just a bit quiet. There was this kind of oppressive silence that was in this place that was completely different from anything that they had experienced before.

The headquarters of the Clover Company shouldn’t have been anywhere near this quiet.

After all, the Clover Company was a decent sized kingdom that had the support of several nobles. They weren’t a normal company that would only be situated in a single city or town.

They were a corporation that spread across several different cities and towns.

That was why the Clover Company was always very busy.

There should have been people running around and all kinds of different sounds being made.

However, there was none of that right now.

The guards looked to their leader for guidance as they had no idea what they were supposed to do right now, but the leader also had no idea what to do.

After all, if there really was a plot brewing under the current, what would he even do?

It wasn’t as if any of them even had their weapons since that had been confiscated by the town guards when they came into the town. The town guards had been worried that they would do something drastic, which was why they couldn’t let these people keep their weapons.

At the same time, they didn’t think much of it since they were safe.

But now...

"Is something wrong?" The well dressed man asked when he saw them hesitating in their carriages.

The leader of the guards had a strange look on his face, but seeing the way that the other guards looked at him, he had no choice but to say something.

"It’s just a bit strange that it’s so quiet here. This is my first time seeing the headquarters this quiet."

Though he didn’t say it directly, it was clear what he was implying here.

The well dressed man didn’t seem fazed at all by this question as he said, "I thought that everyone would be shaken up after what happened to you, so I instructed them to clear out. We’ve also prepared rooms and proper food for you all."

It wasn’t just the guards that were taken aback when they heard this.

Even the other survivors were taken aback since they didn’t expect this kind of treatment.

Seeing the looks on their faces, the well dressed man said, "You all suffered so much for our company and if we don’t take care of you, would people still be willing to join our company? This is just our sincerity."

They all couldn’t help looking at the well dressed man with a strange look.

It was as if they wanted to believe what he was saying, but...it just seemed like it was too much of a coincidence.

It really seemed like there was much more that was going on behind the scenes.

"Is it alright if we just rest?" The leader of the guards suddenly asked.

While he didn’t know what was happening, he knew that it would most likely be dangerous to accept this meal. That was why he was trying to stall time to find a way to escape.

The well dressed man gave a simple nod before turning to the others to ask, "Do you all want to rest as well? I don’t mind since I’m sure that all of you are tired after your ordeal."

Once again, everyone was surprised to hear this since they didn’t expect the well dressed man to be this understanding.

To a certain extent, it was to the point where it almost seemed creepy...

But everyone understood where the leader of the guards was coming from.

If they were willing to let them go, then there was nothing to complain about.

As long as they were able to leave, they would be able to find a way to escape.

Seeing that everyone wanted to go rest, the well dressed man gave a nod before waving his hand. When he waved his hand, there were servants that suddenly came out from the headquarters.

Each of them headed over to a group of the survivors and gestured for them to follow.

It seemed that they would be leading them to their assigned rooms.

The survivors seemed to hesitate a bit, but they chose to follow them in the end.

Not knowing that this would be the last thing that they did.

Once they were all gone, there was no one that actually heard the final screams that came from them. After all, the servants that led them away weren’t simple servants.

They were actually assassins that had weapons hidden in their clothes.

When the survivors least expected it, they pulled these weapons out and finished them off.

Since they were professionals, it was easy for them to finish off all these survivors that had been split up into groups without any of them making a sound.

The well dressed man didn’t care about this as he headed to a certain office in the headquarters.

When he arrived, he immediately bowed to the person that was sitting there and said, "Young master, it’s been taken care of."

The person that was sitting at the desk just simply waved his hand to dismiss him before saying, "Take care of the Clover Company. I don’t want you to leave any loose ends."

The well dressed man gave a nod and a bow before leaving the room.

The person that was left in the room spoke like he was talking to himself, but he was talking to someone in his mind.

"I’m not cleaning up your messes in the future."

As for who this person was...

It was Yulian Redmont.
