Hero Regresses with Villain System-Chapter 36: Red Fury (2)
The trio could only watch as Varek became engulfed by a red aura. At first, they had thought it was constricting him, killing him. Now they saw the truth.
It was expanding from his body, a stifling aura that felt even more threatening than a Kaiju. Even though Varek’s body looked like it was growing weaker, like the beast in front of them was devouring him, his now abundant Qi told the truth.
Somehow, he had become stronger. Far stronger.
It was to the point that even Henry, who would normally be the top of this class, was completely dwarfed. When faced with just the potential of this aura, he was shook to his very core.
As if he was a single stick some beaver hoped would stop a tsunami.
Yet even then, even when he saw such unfathomable strength first hand that caused even the Gentle Dark to cry, Henry was uncertain whether or not Varek was truly the strongest.
Because there was the other, the leader. Adam.
A man with completely undeniable strength who began the journey already 4x stronger than Henry on paper. In truth, from the beginning Adam took on that Kaiju by himself while everyone else could only watch. A gap like that couldn’t be considered just 4x.
Just by looking at him now, Henry could tell that Adam had grown insanely stronger since then. Whereas everyone else was completely flattened by Varek’s overwhelming aura, he merely walked forward, calm and collected.
A titan walking to a titan.
Walking past Varek, Adam continued his journey to his true target. The beast that was known as Mother.
Then he turned his arm into a shortsword, and glanced at the new passive his [Sin of Wrath] gave him. It was time to test just how much faster it would make him.
Glancing down at the man who had already killed her once, fear flashed in the true Mother’s 8 eyes for the very first time. It wasn’t just because he had killed her already. But he had also assimilated one of the 7 sins into himself, one of the cornerstones of the wilting ladies.
He had done something she never could herself, even after millenia of studying rage. Despite consuming trillions of beings, this young child still bested her.
Even if he had the mantle...
You are nothing!!
For the first time in millenia, the Mother did not follow the teachings of the Gentle Dark. She did not wait in the abyss for wandering meals.
Rage filled her being where apathy had been. Dropping Varek, she turned her monstrous figure to Adam. Loose bones, skin, and nails clicked with every movement of what could loosely be described as a torso.
However, Adam didn’t flinch at all when she roared.
In fact, he had already moved completely from where he was standing.
W- where’d you go?
Shng!!
Adam’s sword flashed through the air as it cut into the back of her neck, followed with him kicking off. If she was some lowly Kaiju, such a move would’ve sent her head flying into the ground.
However, she was a wilting lady and life’s Mother.
Dozens of tendrils rose from the goo, from the blood of generations of dead species. Each of them flew through the air at blinding speeds, hoping to be the one to grab Adam.
Adam watched from the corner of his eye as one came from every direction, making escape impossible. Even if he was faster, it was impossible to turn while in air.
However, he could still strike with his shortsword arm and direct himself with his other hand.
Placing out his human hand with an open palm, he used the momentum of one of the tendrils to push him up a little higher. Then he twisted on that hand so that his body would rotate clockwise over it, resulting in him landing squarely on the tendril with his sword ready to strike.
Shng! Shng!
With a single flurry of attacks, 7 tendrils were completely obliterated. However, dozens more were already attacking where the initial wave left off.
He could barely even jump in time before several of them crashed into the tendril he was standing on. If he had been a moment too slow, he would be dead right now.
Adam had hoped that, with the threat of hitting its own tendril, the Mother would’ve slowed her attacks at least a little. Apparently, it was far too enraged to care about self preservation.
Instead of looking to survive this fight, she simply wanted him dead.
’Fucking hell,’ Adam thought as he surveyed the approaching tendrils. They were numerous, and amidst the black landscape nigh impossible to make out. If it wasn’t for his improved eyesight since leveling up, he would be unable to see anything.
Still, even with this boost they were barely more than a black blur. If something didn’t change right now, the tendrils were going to smack into him sooner than later.
Therefore, he directed all of the Quantum Energy associated with Mech into Imaging. Just like with Qi, by lowering one stat deliberately he could raise another.
Since Set was off somewhere being completely useless, he knew there was no point in having Quantum Energy directed into Mech.
With his new stats distribution the tendrils became clear as day for him. They were numerous, but because he was higher in the air they no longer had the advantage of attacking from all sides. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Therefore, all he needed to do was keep attacking. All he needed to do was swing his sword until she was dead.
It was kind of beautiful, in a morbid way.
Shng! Shng! Shng!
Adam swung his sword viciously, cutting through the first wave of tendrils like butter. With every slash, it felt like he was being pushed back into the air little by little.
Shng! Shng! Shng!
Little by little, Adam made his way through an endless wave of tendrils. All he had to do was keep moving, keep swinging.
Keep killing.
And so, that’s what he did. Until he was falling into the open mouth of the Mother.
Except she was dead, and had been dead for awhile. When he landed, the teeth didn’t shift and consume him, because the beast it belonged to was dead.
Looking out of the opening of the mouth, Adam saw Varek glaring at him. Then, Red Hair said, "Die."
