Chapter 1680: Chapter 424: The End of the Thin Line

Madness, arrogance, and insanity—these are the words often used by Wizards to describe Demons.

Even so, the Wizards surrounding the Keiform Flight Land find it hard to understand why the Sea Demon King is so audacious—even though he is a Legendary Wizard—in theory, as the tier of a Demon rises, their state should become more akin to Wizards, which is commonly referred to as ’becoming more rational’.

The Sea Demon King, as a Great Demon of Legendary Rank, should normally be just like Lady Shi Hui or Mr. Ruo Yu—calm (indifferent), wise (cunning), cautious (fearful for one’s life).

But currently, he acts like a lunatic, behaving no differently from regular Demons, reckless and lawless, knowing neither courtesy nor reason.

Of course, this state is more aligned with the Wizards’ usual understanding of Demons.

Upon hearing the Sea Demon King’s provocations.

Vice Principal Shi Hui laughed in anger, coldly looking at the snake head in her hand, then glanced at the surrounding battlefield and said indifferently: "Leave this to you... our battlefield is elsewhere."

The first part was said to Elder Ruoyu on the inner fort city walls and the few deans on the broken walls of the main fortress; the latter part was said to the snake head she was holding.

Before her words finished, the Witch holding the snake head had a ring abruptly shatter, turning into specks of fluorescence, cascading down like a waterfall washing through the space, ultimately washing out a point of black light, appearing between the Witch and the snake head.

At the same time, a massive gravitational force suddenly surged between heaven and earth.

The black light rapidly expanded, growing from the size of a needle tip to the size of a basketball, becoming a pitch-black sphere, floating in mid-air.

It was a type of black that seemed to swallow all light.

"Hiss hiss... what is..."

The snake head hissed, shrieking, struggling in the Witch’s palm, as though trying to escape the bind, but the immense gravity emanating from within the black sphere was like countless tentacles bristling with suction cups, firmly securing it.

To onlookers, Vice Principal Shi Hui’s arm holding the snake head appeared bizarrely elongated under the gravitational pull, her entire form gradually distorting, twisting together with the snake head into a long spiral, eventually transforming into a multicolored stream of information, directed toward the black sphere.

Like a vine with well-developed roots being uprooted.

As the snake head vanished into the black sphere, in the cabin and below the deck of the Mist Ship, in the sails and cannon muzzle of the Mirage Ship, on the body of the Vortex Ship, and in the crevices and bottom stone cover of the Iceberg—now should be called ’Stone Mountain’—radiant multi-colored streams were similarly pulled by those ’black ropes’, tied, and all vanished into the black sphere.

Of course, the black sphere did not indiscriminately swallow everything.

Apart from the Sea Demon King and Lady Shi Hui, the ship’s figurehead on the Mist Ship, due to some affinity of having snake hair and the Sea Demon King’s aura, had some strands forcibly pulled away, causing her grimacing in pain, yet striving to appear nonchalant.

Other items like the cabin, deck, masts, including a greenish Deadly Wind Lamp hanging near the ear of the ship’s figurehead, were not affected at all.

The flame inside the lamp didn’t even flicker much.

Left side of the broken fortress wall.

Professor Yao’s indifferent face withdrew, reappearing with a compassionate expression, sighed softly, "Why troubles..."

"Serves you right!" The ferocious face struggled back, squeezed out the compassion, maliciously grinned at the black sphere suspended in mid-air, "That loudmouth worm always stinks, today it should learn what happens when you leave home without brushing teeth."

"Noisy." The indifferent face suppressed the other two thoughts again, coldly staring at the deck of the Mist Ship, took a step forward: "One against three... slightly challenging."

...

The pressure quietly dissipated.

The Mist Captain didn’t immediately raise his head, but slowly stretched out his body, gradually crawled up from the deck. He removed his hood, the normally neat sideburns appeared a bit disheveled, stained with some dust, only the dark red in his eyes remained serene as ever, even deeper than usual.

The alliance of Sea Demons, the two Great Wizard Demons from the Land of Desolation, Watcher Gustav Duran and Mark Brigette, the Time Usurper also discreetly climbed up behind the Captain.

"Is this what empowers you to invade the Black Prison?" Gustav Duran, known as the ’Watcher’, naturally sees more broadly than ordinary Great Wizard Demons: "Utilizing one Legendary to drag away another... inefficient, but indeed effective. But do you have a second Legendary?"

Saying this, he glanced at Elder Ruoyu still standing on the inner fort walls, slightly bowed his head in respect, then whispered softly, "The First University doesn’t only have one Legendary."

"With things going awry, breaking from the battlefield is not hard for us." Mark Brigette, the Time Usurper, particularly adept at exploiting loopholes in time and causality, known as the most elusive Demon in the Wizard world, once Peach and tender from a trap set by several Big Wizards, commented now with full confidence:

"...but you, and those prisoners, those Dark Beasts, could hardly escape the university’s pursuit. This isn’t a profitable business."

The Mist Captain didn’t look back at his allies.

His gaze crossed the inner fort walls, over Elder Ruoyu’s shoulder, beyond the mesmerizing barrier akin to the Starry Sky behind the elder, as if witnessing a towering ancient tree trembling joyfully under the touch of magical power, seeing several fruits slightly swaying at the tips of branches.

A moment later, he snapped back to reality.

"Business? At such a time, do you still think this is business?" The Mist Captain let out a brief, piercing laugh, "If it’s a losing deal, why would you be here?"

The Usurper and Watcher wore somber expressions, looking somewhat difficult.

The Captain didn’t continue mocking his allies, switched his tone, suddenly reminiscing those Demons once captured and sacrificed by Wizards during the timeline’s front-line operations to anchor the Black Prison World.

"Misty Toro, Misty Carter, Misty Norse, they’re good kids." He sighed deeply, "And the Iceberg Franos, Vortex Ghostlock... did you know? Vortex intended to promote Ghostlock to third mate... and the Prophet of death, your Prophet of death, Nun Hepton, if memory serves, she was repeatedly dubbed as the future star of the Land of Desolation."

The complexion of the two Great Wizard Demons grew increasingly gloomy.

The Mist Captain appeared to sense the allies’ poor mood, his tone suddenly lightened up: "Hence, you really believe we several Big Sea Demons are capable and willing to sacrifice our children... even the future star of the Land of Desolation?"

"Just like many divination books say."

"We merely tugged a loose thread caught in our sight, yet unknown to us, the end of that thread is the Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads."
