His innocent wife is a dangerous hacker.-Chapter 538 I robbed your five million
Dom ignored him again.
"Please wake up," Dom continued dramatically, "because we all know you are extremely possessive about money. I heard from someone in finance that you check company accounts every single day just to make sure nobody even breathes near your funds."
He leaned closer to Leo’s face. "You love money, right? Otherwise why would you become both a businessman and mafia? That is literally double income source planning."
Jay actually laughed this time, shaking his head. "I never thought about it like that, but yes. Bro is definitely protective about money. He acts like every cent has emotional value."
Jason folded his arms. "He probably names them."
Bella stayed quiet, watching Leo’s face, her smile soft but distant, like she was scared to feel too hopeful.
"Wake up, Leo," Dom said again, louder now, like he was calling someone across a football field. "I robbed your five million. I am confessing voluntarily. This is your moment."
The room went strangely quiet after that.
Dom blinked once when nobody reacted.
Then twice.
Bella’s eyes suddenly widened slightly.
Jay straightened, leaning forward.
Jason stopped mid-breath.
Dom slowly turned his head toward the bed, confused.
"Bro...?" Jay whispered, his voice trembling. "Did he just—"
Jay’s face lit up suddenly, shock and hope crashing together.
"BRO WOKE UP???" he shouted, loud enough that someone outside probably heard.
Dom swallowed hard and turned fully toward Leo.
And there—
Leo’s eyes were open.
They were clouded with the fog of heavy drugs and profound exhaustion, but the core of them was unmistakably clear. A dark, storm-gray, focused with a laser intensity that seemed to burn away the last traces of unconsciousness. They were fixed, unblinking, on Dom’s face.
Dom, for perhaps the first time in his life, was struck utterly speechless. His mouth hung slightly open, his theatrical posture frozen mid-performance. The color drained from his face, leaving him almost as pale as the man in the bed.
"Bro...?" Jay’s voice was a ragged whisper, choked with a hope so violent it was painful. He took a stumbling step forward, his hand reaching out but stopping short, as if afraid to break the moment.
Bella’s breath hitched, a soft, sharp sound in the quiet. Her hand flew to her mouth, her fingers trembling against her lips. Her eyes, wide and disbelieving, filled with a fresh gloss of tears, but she did not make a sound, terrified that any movement might make him close his eyes again.
Leo’s gaze did not waver from Dom. His entire world, in that waking moment, seemed to be the man who had just confessed to stealing five million.
Slowly, with visible effort that tightened the muscles in his jaw and made the monitor stutter faster, Leo’s lips parted. A dry, ragged sound escaped, more air than voice. He swallowed with visible difficulty, his throat working.
When he finally spoke, his voice was wrecked, gravelly, barely audible. But every word was perfectly, dangerously distinct.
"...You... did... what?"
The question hung in the sterile air, low and deadly.
Jay let out a half laugh, half sob, his own hand now covering his eyes as his shoulders shook. Jason just stared, a slow, disbelieving grin spreading across his face.
Dom finally managed to blink. He leaned back slightly in his chair, the picture of guilty innocence. "Ah," he said, his own voice uncharacteristically small. "You heard that part."
A faint, almost imperceptible tremor ran through Leo’s body. The immense effort of staying conscious. But his eyes remained open, and that fierce, focused light in them did not dim.
Bella finally moved. She drifted to the bedside like a ghost, her tears now falling silently.
He was back.
His gaze shifted, slow and deliberate, as if it took all the energy he had left. It moved away from Dom’s frozen, guilty face, across the sterile room, and finally settled on her.
The storm in his eyes did not disappear. But it changed. It parted like heavy clouds breaking after a long storm, revealing a glimpse of clear sky beneath. The sharp edges softened into pure, exhausted recognition. It was the most beautiful sight she had ever seen.
"Leo?" Bella whispered, her voice breaking on the single syllable, thick with tears she could no longer hold back.
A choked, joyful sob escaped Jay. He did not wait another second. He spun on his heel and bolted for the door, his footsteps pounding down the hallway as his voice echoed, frantic with excitement. "Doctor! He’s awake! Get in here!"
But inside the room, time seemed to slow.
Leo’s lips, dry and cracked, trembled as they formed a word. His voice was a thin whisper, shaped by enormous effort.
"Bunny..."
Then a sharp spasm of pain tightened his features. A low groan escaped him, and the effort of staying conscious, of focusing, of speaking, finally overwhelmed him. His eyelids, heavy as stone, fluttered shut.
"Leo!" Bella gasped, her hand finally darting out to cradle his cheek.
He stirred at her touch, a faint frown of concentration appearing between his brows. With visible effort, he forced his eyes back open. The gray was hazy with pain, but clear with intention. He was looking right at her.
"I am... o-okay," he managed, each word a rough scrape, pushed through clenched teeth.
Bella’s breath caught. She nodded quickly, her thumb stroking his cheekbone. With her other hand, she reached for his, folding his cold fingers into her warmer ones. She rubbed them gently, a small, desperate motion, trying to push her warmth into him. Her mind was blank, washed clean by a wave of relief and fear. She did not know what to do. She only knew she could not let go.
The door burst open. Jay rushed back in, followed closely by a doctor and a nurse who moved with fast, practiced urgency.
"He’s awake. He spoke," Jay said, his voice still charged with adrenaline.
The medical team smoothly moved into place around the bed, their presence shifting the atmosphere from emotional to clinical.
"We need to check his vitals and cognitive response," the doctor said calmly. "I need everyone to step back for a moment, please."
Bella’s grip on Leo’s hand tightened instinctively for a second before she forced herself to release him. She took a small step back, but her eyes never left his face as the doctor leaned in with a penlight.
