[Determination], the effect of this [Saint Envoy] magic was to temporarily seal off all healing magic within the [Saint Envoy] system, drastically increase the power of all other [Saint Envoy] spells, commonly known as the "Paladin Mode."

Although this spell can be learned by any high-level Warlock possessing the [Saint Envoy] Soul Armament, and although it came with severe side effects, most Holy Radiance Cross Knights will still cast it before engaging in life-or-death combat, symbolizing a final, unwavering determination to fight to the death, just as the name of the spell implies.

It seemed Luna had been forced to release this magic during a previous battle against a powerful enemy. Once activated, the spell couldn't be canceled manually, until it naturally expired, she wouldn't be able to use any healing magic at all.

Enchanted weapons, inherited family magic, and the desperate last stand of [Determination], Luna had exhausted every possible means to boost her magical power. Yet even so, it still fell drastically short of a Master-rank spell's strength, and this was despite Luna's affinity for light elements being far superior to Foreno's.

At this moment, Luna's appearance was undeniably wretched. Her school uniform was blown to shreds, her sheer stockings torn unevenly, one long, one short, completely shredded at the roots. Her honey-blonde hair was disheveled, her white pleated skirt riddled with holes, and her school clothes in tatters. She leaned on her platinum staff, its glow dimmed, while gathering light magic with her other hand, clearly in terrible condition.

Not only that, but scattered near her feet were broken fragments of accessories like pendants and rings, a torn piece of parchment, and a vial of Light-Extracting Potion lying on the ground, pulsing with a glaring glow.

"Miss Luna!" Everyone stared in tense silence.

So it still wasn't enough?

Vanessa bit her lip gently.

"Well, it's unbecoming for a cleric to speak of money, but... financial strength isn't a bad thing after all. Sometimes, it can even save your life." Foreno chuckled, eyeing the scattered remains of expensive artifacts and potions and scrolls around Luna.

"I'm truly sorry, Miss Luna. In theory, as a high priest under the Church, this would be overstepping my bounds. But if you still refuse to surrender, I'll have no choice but to execute you for treason against the Church." Luna's earlier counterattack had already been her answer. Foreno knew there was no point in further words, he had no intention of stopping his assault.

To prevent complications from dragging on, Foreno waited a moment until his cooldown ended. Then he raised his staff, gathering countless light particles at its tip, instantly forming another [Falling Demon Light Explosion].

"Miss Luna!" The three girls watched in horror as, without pause, a new [Falling Demon Light Explosion] descended upon Luna like a solar corona, crushing down with blinding force.

This was meant to ensure the opponent would be completely neutralized.

Yet, as Vanessa's eyes settled on Luna, she noticed that although her clothes were torn and her appearance pitifully disheveled, Luna's eyes remained calm and serene, frighteningly tranquil, just as usual, as if everything was still perfectly under her control.

And at the exact moment Foreno launched his [Falling Demon Light Explosion] at Luna, the [Holy Bestowed Seal of Confinement] floating in midair, previously inactive, suddenly stirred. The line within it recording the [Falling Demon Light Explosion] spell began to glow. Immediately afterward, the chains that had previously sealed the tome reappeared, lashing out and binding the spell just as it was about to leave Foreno's grasp.

Foreno felt as if the spell had suddenly stuck to his hand, the instant it should have been released, it wouldn't let go, clinging tightly no matter how hard he tried to shake it off.

This sudden turn of events shocked Foreno to his core. Seeing the spell on the verge of detonating, he knew fully well what would happen if a Master-rank spell exploded in his hands, he hastily canceled the spell to prevent it from taking him with it.

He wasn't a Horaleth heiress, he didn't have an endless supply of safety nets.

What... was this?!

Could it be that the [Holy Bestowed Seal of Confinement] possessed additional effects??

Foreno stared at the golden text on the tome as it slowly faded away. But before he could ponder further, several [Light Cone Strikes] came flying at him, forcing him to react immediately.

[Light Cone Strike] randomly generated two to five light spears. While not highly destructive overall, they had strong pinpoint damage and extreme speed.

Realizing he couldn't dodge in time, Foreno instinctively cast [Light Protection], it was his habit. Ever since reaching Master rank, even though his cultivation had stagnated at early Master for quite some time, he'd faced virtually no real threats, so he'd grown to rely on spells as his first line of defense.

Normally, this wouldn't be an issue.

But this time was different.

The [Light Protection] he should have conjured with a mere hand gesture failed to appear as expected.

Under normal circumstances, a high-level Warlock's [Light Cone Strike] posed no threat at all. In the past, he wouldn't have even bothered to look up.

But when magic fails, killing a human requires nothing more than a small fireball.

Foreno's eyes widened, he never imagined a Master like himself could be brought down by a mere high-level Warlock.

Even as dark red blood soaked through his white priestly robes, he still couldn't comprehend why his magic had failed, why, all of a sudden, he could no longer cast spells. This was something he'd never considered, never experienced before.

The [Light Cone Strikes] pierced through the fragile human body easily. Foreno never expected that the spell which would end his life would be something so... undignified.

He fell backward, still frozen in the posture of casting a spell. From the corner of his blood-stained eyes, he caught sight of the chains coiled around him, sealing him in.

The tide had turned in an instant. Everything happened too suddenly, even Fanya and Amisa couldn't understand how Foreno had lost, or why he hadn't countered the incoming spells with his own magic or defended himself with protective spells.

But Vanessa understood. Her gaze shifted to the spellbook floating above Luna, the ancient sacred inscription [Holy Bestowed Seal of Confinement] had disappeared from its cover.

So that was it.

The effect of the [Holy Bestowed Seal of Confinement] wasn't merely copying spells. After recording a spell, it offered two options: copy the spell, or, when the opponent cast the same spell again, seal it. The sealed target will temporarily lose the ability to cast any magic.

Judging by the chains that had bound Foreno, that was Vanessa's guess.

It was a battle of information disparity. Foreno didn't fully understand the [Holy Bestowed Seal of Confinement]'s effects, he assumed he knew everything about it, but in reality, he only knew part of its abilities.

Combined with his overwhelming advantage as a Master against a high-level Warlock, he had grown somewhat complacent. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

One could only say Luna had too many hidden tools, her margin for error had been inflated to extraordinary levels.

Still, this had been extremely dangerous.

If Foreno hadn't reused the [Falling Demon Light Explosion] and instead cast another spell not recorded by the [Holy Bestowed Seal of Confinement], the consequences would have been catastrophic.

Luna might have already been dead.

She had been gambling, betting on whether Foreno only had this one Master-rank destructive spell. If so, due to the [Holy Bestowed Seal of Confinement], Foreno would likely play it safe and use the same spell again.

In the end, Luna had won the gamble, an advanced Warlock narrowly defeating an early Master.

Looking at Luna's current state, Vanessa couldn't help but think:

This was a true near-victory. If Foreno had used a different spell just then, she would have lost.

It was nothing short of a miracle, overcoming an entire cultivation tier was a rare exception, something almost textbook-worthy.

Still, upon reflection, it makes sense. As the Horaleth heiress, Luna possessed extraordinary talent, high light-element affinity, exclusive family magic, endless streams of expensive weapons and artifacts to boost her survivability, and the power of [Determination].

Only under such circumstances could she narrowly defeat her opponent.

The probability of such an event was incredibly low, but even the slimmest chance had still occurred.

Foreno lay on the ground, still frozen in his spell-casting posture, eyes wide open in disbelief, as if he still hadn't realized he'd lost.

In his final moments, it occurred to him, his Soul Armament was [Saint Envoy], and his mana was still abundant.

Everything... wasn't over yet.

But just as he attempted to cast a healing spell on himself, a golden cubic crystal descended upon his head, and exploded, obliterating his skull.

[Light Crystal]

Luna, barely clinging to consciousness, released her final spell, finishing off the still-living Foreno.

Although the scene was brutal, showing mercy here would only bring disaster upon them.

Fanya and Amisa both looked visibly disrupted. Clearly, the sight of something blown apart into red and white chunks was too much for them, they turned away suddenly. Amisa, in particular, couldn't hold back, she crouched down, retching from nausea.

Was it over?

Vanessa silently observed the quiet battlefield, the motionless, lifeless Foreno lying on the ground, his robe soaked and streaked with fluids of various colors, flowing together on the floor.

Has their crisis ended?

Luna seemed to have reached her limit, leaning on her staff, she slowly sank to her knees.

"Tap, tap, tap." Fanya was about to rush over when something dropped from Foreno's body.

The four girls, drawn by the sound, looked over, and saw a dimly glowing magic cube.

No, this was...?!

They all recognized the cube instantly. It was this very object that had transported all of them here.

Now that she thought about it, Vanessa understood why it was shaped like a cube, each scene they experienced had no connection to the previous one, as if the cube kept rotating, shifting them wherever it landed. Every scenario was randomly assembled, completely disjointed.

The cube was on Foreno. So it really was all he did.

"Click, click!" Accompanied by sharp sounds, the cube began spinning rapidly before their eyes. Eventually, spinning so fast it made their eyes ache, it suddenly snapped with a loud crack, splitting down the middle with a jagged fissure, then shattering completely.

Staring at the broken pieces scattered across the ground, the group stood frozen, glancing at each other in confusion, unsure of what would happen next.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!!!" The answer came the next second.

The cube had shattered, and the ground beneath their feet began to crumble, just like the shattered magic cube, split into jagged cracks that spread like a massive spiderweb.

"Get out of here!" Vanessa shouted.

But given the conditions of the four of them now,

It was truly terrible. If they tried to carry her, none of them would make it.

"Fanya, can you still stand?"

"Barely... Yes, Saintess." Ignoring her injuries, Fanya clenched her teeth. She was at her limit, only sheer willpower and adrenaline kept her upright.

"Fanya, Amisa, go save Miss Luna! Then get out of here!" Vanessa shouted.

"This... No! What about you, Saintess? I won't leave you behind!" Fanya, drenched in cold sweat from pain, still spoke firmly.

"I have my own way out, you must leave now." Vanessa declared resolutely.

"So what is your method?! We won't abandon you!"

"Don't worry about me, go save Miss Luna! Then take Amisa and run! Leave here!" Vanessa yelled. "If you keep delaying, none of us will escape!"

"No! Saintess, we won't leave you! We'll save Lady Luna too!"

"If you do this, none of us will get out, we'll all be trapped here." Vanessa pressed her lips together, her eyes flashing with determination. "You've always called me 'Saintess,' haven't you?"

"Then... will you listen to the Saintess's words?"

"This is an order, Fanya, I command you: don't worry about me. Take Luna and Amisa and leave this place!"

"Amisa, listen, this is an order. Go save Luna, then get out of here!" Vanessa's voice had never been so serious.

"I…" Fanya opened her mouth, unsure how to respond.

Amisa, too, was torn, gripping the hem of her skirt helplessly.

"We're running out of time, move!" Vanessa's brows tightened.

But,

Before Fanya could continue, a deafening roar of destruction erupted. Above them, the sky began to unravel and collapse.

"First, let's get to Luna."

Fanya supported the exhausted Vanessa, and the three of them struggled toward the exhausted Luna.

All three were barely functional, not one of them in decent condition.

Vanessa looked up, watching the sky fragment into dust and rain down in pieces. She bit her lips.

She abandoned her attempt to order Fanya to leave, in the face of such a spectacle, she didn't even know where they should run.

How she had reached this point could be described as a necessity forged from millions of coincidences.

Then... What about what came next?

Would there still be 'coincidences'?

Was her bloodline awakening and fate shift truly the will of Goddess of Radiance or the instructions of past Saintesses??
