Chapter 49: The Silver Wolves (2)

I ran a hand through my hair and took a few glances around the room, making sure I wasn’t being watched in some way. These types of situations always made me feel a bit weird.

"Yeah. I think it would be best for us to be allies. Let’s work together Rebecca, I’m Zero." I said before introducing myself.

She extended her hand out to shake mine so of course I shook hers. Afterwards she leaned back in her chair as she let out a few puffs from her cigarette.

"It’ll be nice to have someone who operates from within such a shit sector. You also don’t seem to be dumb which makes a huge difference." Rebecca replied with a bit of relief in her voice.

"Dumb people don’t make it far, that’s why I like to think about my decisions." I said without hesitation.

There was no need to think about this since it was the smartest decision. Working with another gang would make things a bit more efficient in the long run anyway.

We have a lot of ground to cover and personally I’d rather have someone watching my back in this city.

Even Dad had his fair share of allies, at least that’s what I can remember from the bits and pieces of my memories. It wasn’t easy to eavesdrop in the slightest but I did learn a lot as a kid.

"Cheers to a prosperous friendship." Rebecca spoke with a bit of happiness in her voice.

"Cheers indeed." I responded with a laid back tone.

"Give me your phone so I can put my contact information in it. We’ll need a way to communicate so this will do." She said while extending her hand out to me.

I placed my phone in her hands and waited for her to put her information on it. It only took a moment before she gave it back to me, she was a lot easier to talk to then I expected.

Nothing about this place seemed to be bad to me either which was kind of shocking.

"I’ll stay in contact with you. I appreciate the meeting and I think we’ll be able to take over this city together." I said with confidence.

She didn’t respond back this time, she just gave a smile before giving me a wave. So I put my mask back on and left the office with a bit of a new understanding for this life.

The room was still the same as it was before I entered the office. People were still enjoying themselves while I made my way out of the building.

Honestly the only difference was that the guys outside didn’t say anything to me this time and actually seemed to be giving me respect.

I’d say that today went a lot better than I expected since we now have a new ally. Rebecca will definitely be a good addition to our climb to the top of Kairox.

I’m just surprised that the silver wolves are still standing and I never heard a damn thing about them until now. Rezex barely gave me much to work with either but it isn’t a big deal.

I think everything was handled good so there shouldn’t be any issues.

This sector is definitely not for me though, I think I prefer everything the way it was before. The name of the sector does slip past me quite a bit so I’ll just think of my own nickname for it.

The deadline sector? Hmm, yeah. That name honestly will work just fine for me, at least for the time being it will.

(A couple of hours pass by.)

I found myself a couple of streets away from my headquarters but I wanted to take a bit of a breather. That’s why I’m sitting on the edge of this rooftop up here, looking down at the streets below.

There’s still a lot for us to figure out before we can start making some noise in the streets again. A bigger arsenal is definitely the biggest thing in the list right now.

My guys need weapons... Like a lot of damn weapons. We’ll need to find a good place to hit so that everyone can be properly fitted for any situation.

There will be quite a few jobs to get done before I can start cleaning up the streets here. Guns, hardware, and then some killing will need to be done.

Having all these gangs out here that want my head is just not going to fly.

I looked down at my hands before a brief flash went past me, almost like blood was all over my hands again. Those kinds of things don’t bother me.

Hallucinations of past events doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

Everything is necessary in the grand scheme of things, that is just how it works if you want to climb to the top. My dad worked his ass of to keep us safe and to build his gang up.

I’ll be doing the same damn thing but this time around I won’t have to worry about Renji so much. He seems to have grown in quite a few ways so I won’t worry so much about him.

He’ll be willing to tell me about how this wraith thing came to be eventually. For now, I’m glad he isn’t a little bitch anymore.

Dad would be proud of the both of us.

"So you are around. It is very easy to find you, how’d the meet go?" Rezex asked, his robotic voice loud enough for me to hear.

"Good. We have a new ally so that is a good sign." I responded with a casual tone.

"Having friends is never a bad thing. I think Karma would’ve lasted longer if we had more of them, but you can’t change the past. This is the way forward now." Rezex said before taking a seat next to me.

"You’re right, it’s time to move forward. I have confidence that we’ll take out Myra and rule the city." I replied while looking out towards the distant skyscrapers.
