Chapter 50: The New Doctor has Arrived

After my brief conversation with Rezex I had gone back to the headquarters. I didn’t want to waste a bunch of time sitting around outside anyway.

I got my breather before returning anyway so it didn’t matter much.

Upon heading inside I could see a guy wearing a white apron, some crappy clothes and some goggles on his head. He had a big smile on his face too which was kind of strange to me.

"I take it you must be my new boss, I’m Junji!" He shouted with enthusiasm.

"Yeah. Zero." I responded while keeping a serious tone.

This guy is definitely a lot more enthusiastic than I would’ve expected but it isn’t a bad thing. Having someone with some good energy like this could be a good change of pace around here.

Not that we have negative energy... We just have a different kind of vibe that people aren’t entirely used to. That’s all.

"Zero. Zero. Zero. Yeah, I like that. Alright." Junji said with some excitement.

"I hope they got you a place to work. Did Reika already show you the room?" I asked with a curious tone.

"Yes she did. I’ll get to work on some of the blueprints she gave me and if you need some work done, let me know." Junji responded before he started to walk away.

"Will do." I said while scratching my head.

It’ll take some getting used to since he has a completely different personality than I’m used to. Doc wasn’t that enthusiastic about things from what I remember but it isn’t a big deal.

I’ll get used to it with time.

Being back in my room after all of that was peaceful, just what I needed after a long day. Everything was done so quick too.

I laid down on my bed after sitting everything down on my dresser, it was nice to be back in comfortable clothing. Wearing a suit and mask makes everything a bit suffocating at times.

We’ve got a new doc here to do our metal work so that’ll make things a bit easier in the long run. Now we just need to get a bit of hardware and steel figured out, then we’ll be golden.

That’s a tomorrow problem though. I’ve honestly not worked too much lately so this was a bit more exhausting than I expected.

Within a few seconds of those thoughts disappearing I fell asleep. The remainder of the day passed by and I soon found myself waking up to the morning sun.

It wasn’t as bright as the previous places I stayed at since we have bigger buildings around here blocking it. I was still able to tell that it was morning at least.

I sat up in my bed and looked across the room, it was definitely quite the empty place for me.

Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad to get some more shit in here. Having such an empty space like this all the time kind of sucks in all honesty.

Could put a TV in here with a proper desk setup so I don’t have to go to that damn office all the time. That wouldn’t be too bad to make happen either.

I hate having an office to begin with but that’s kind of natural when you’re a boss.

It does make me wonder if Dad hated being in charge of things or not, he never showed anything to us so you couldn’t tell. I’d like to think that he wasn’t much for an office either.

Knock. Knock. Knock. "Can I come in?" Reika’s muffled voice asked from the other side of the door.

"Sure." I answered loud enough for her to hear me. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

She opened the door and entered the room quickly before shutting the door behind her.

"So the meeting went well, you met Junji, and got some sleep." She stated clearly while pacing around the room.

"Pretty much. That’s exactly what happened." I said before letting out a yawn.

"Junji is a bit of an interesting person but he’ll be great here, I promise. Anyway, tell me about the meeting." Reika assured me before pushing for me to talk about the meeting.

"It wasn’t anything crazy. We got a new ally, nothing more than that. They seem to be interested in how much we’ll grow so it is best that we don’t disappoint." I replied while crossing my arms.

Rebecca will probably reach out to me again at some point soon to see if there’s anything they can help with. That’s the one thing I can say pretty confidently based on our conversation with each other.

She’s definitely not the type to sit around and wait for me to do it.

The silver wolves will definitely be a great addition to our team but I’m not sure how long that’ll last. People are real quick to switch up when things go south.

We’ve seen that with lotus/9 after all. Except nothing went south, they just decided to betray us for whatever reason.

Probably were considering us to be a risk in the first place or maybe we didn’t meet a certain requirement, doesn’t really matter. They were going to betray us either way since we don’t have what they want.

A group of assassins like that only wants two things in life. Money and Kills.

Money was definitely not something karma could guarantee at will since they didn’t possess a bunch of it to begin with. Most of it was blown on deals/exchanges that I went on with Pinky.

"Did you hear me? I doubt we’ll disappoint them but we definitely got a lot to figure out." Reika questioned before continuing on.

"Hardware and guns. We’ll figure it out today." I responded while standing up.

"I might have an idea of where to get some hardware but maybe we can have Rezex handle this job." Reika suggested with a calm tone.

Rezex could be a good pick for a job like that, he’d be in and out. I don’t feel like dealing with hardware myself so that would probably be the better option for now.

"Yeah, we’ll have him handle it." I replied in agreement.
