Chapter 302: Chapter 302: The Demon

Siderius picked up a stick on the ground and dipped it into the surface of the water. It wasn’t water, it was blood.

When he raised the wooden stick up, dense thick blood dripped from the wood surface.

"Blood should have coagulated by now. This blood is not normal." Siderius said.

Suddenly, the blood climbed upward of the stick and ate it.

Siderius threw the stick away. The wood was quickly corroded away without any left. The blood crawled on the ground like a living animal.

"Piryo!" Siderius aimed his hand at it and burned it to a crisp.

Whatever that thing was, it was not safe to let it roam free around the world. When Siderius looked back into the well, he could see a skull floating right under the thick blood surface. The one hundred families were all inside the well, smushed into a mixture used for some kind of demonic ritual.

Siderius realized this handiwork. He had seen many cases like this in his previous life.

"An Infernal Demon..." Siderius said.

Infernal Demon. A pure evil being originated from hell.

Hell wasn’t a figment of the people’s imagination. It was very real. It was a different and separated dimension from the world of the living.

Some Alchemists had theorized in the past that hell was the afterlife and where the souls of those who left would end up at.

But it was proved to be false after many expeditions to hell. In hell, there were only demons. Only a good soul would soon turn into one.

The culprit behind the tragedy of this town was a demon.

Siderius didn’t know what kind but all demons were dangerous. Even the weakest one would wipe the floor to all witches and witch hunters. Unless... Those witches and witch hunters had reached the second rank of their supernatural pathway.

Siderius was still on his first rank.

He reached behind his back, summoning the Silver Hawk and grabbed it immediately. His other hand flexed and called upon the silver bracer. He couldn’t keep his guard down once he knew a demon was behind all this. One simple move would mean his death.

Siderius slowly retreated from the town. This task was way above his current ability. The more intelligent thing was to inform this to the Royal Court.

Witches belonged to the Kingdom of Chaos. Their basic nature would be to consume and destroy everything.

Demon, surprisingly, did not belong to the Kingdom of Chaos. They belonged to the Kingdom of Fable. Some Alchemists would say it was the most powerful and dangerous kingdom of all five.

Siderius reached Red. He hopped on the horse and darted as fast he could out of the town.

But it was too late. A faint blood barrier appeared and enveloped the entire town. He was no longer able to run away.

A faint smile echoed throughout the space.

"Hahaha. Why leave so quickly, tiny mortal?" A low growly voice spoke up.

Siderius jumped down to Red. He spanked it and told it to run away. The speed of the horse would mean nothing in front of a demon. The only thing he could do was allow Red to survive.

Siderius pulled out his other sword, Blazing Soul. He held two swords in each hand. Blazing Soul in his left and Silver Hawk in his right.

He raised Blazing Soul and used it as a platform to place Silver Hawk upon. Low-grade Sigils would be useless to these demons. The only thing he could hopefully do was to damage it with a physical attack.

Blazing Soul stayed horizontal to his body, providing an additional shield in front. Silver Hawk aimed forward, acting as the main focal attack point.

"I slayed many like you before, demon." Siderius said.

"Oh? I see. I see. Your soul is much older than your body. A body snatcher, I assume? Your cunning Alchemists are all the same. You’re just as bad as us! Hahahahaha!" The voice echoed.

It spread everywhere, making it difficult for Siderius to locate where it was coming from.

He didn’t even try to use his echolocation or his mutation ability to locate the demon either. With its magic, unless it allowed him, there was no way to find where it actually was.

"We are not the same, demons."

"Oh, really? Did you ask that boy for his body then?"

"As a matter of fact, I did." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

The demon didn’t answer. It seemed to be thinking about what Siderius just said.

"A worshipper of Fate, huh. I can see inside you, the strong power of Fate. You have done many things to build this karma. But the world is still angry at you... Sid."

Siderius squinted his eyes. The demon learned his name by reading his Light Aether. This was no lesser demon. This was a full-fledged demon capable of wiping out an entire country.

"Shit..." He said.

Siderius’ eyes flashed light as he used the Karmic Vision to observe the area around him. He was just trying his luck to see if he could spot the demon.

He didn’t think that he was able to see the demon for real.

A tall red figure towered over the entire town. Alatus was very big. But this demon was bigger. It was at least a few hundred meters in height.

"Oh? What is that? You’re able to see my projection? Well. Since you can see me now. There is no point in keeping you alive."

The figure reached its hand out to Siderius and wanted to crush him into pieces.

Fighting with swords would be pointless now. There was only one way that Siderius thought that it might work.

"There is no other way..."

Siderius dropped his sword. His finger dived into his pocket and fished out a stone ring.

The Vagrant Ring of the Outsider. It ’coincidentally’ fell into his hand.

Eli gifted it to him after he cleansed the filth in Santa Roberto. But Siderius knew better. This was no coincidence. This was an arrangement from Eli’s god.

"Old Lord Heed Me. The Outsider Heed Me. I am Siderius Snow Satterblade. Lord of Snowfell. I was the one you sent the Vagrant Ring to."

The demon froze its hand.

Then it laughed.

"How pathetic! Hahahahaha! You can’t deal with me and now you asked for help from your god? Let me tell you something. Those gods never listen.

Not even one."

The demon slammed its hand down onto Siderius.
