I Am The Only Witch Hunter-Chapter 303: The Pact

The Vagrant Ring turned white. A blinding white light enveloped Siderius. The demon was pushed back, unable to hurt him even a tiny bit.

"I listen." A calm low voice replied.

Siderius couldn’t make out the god’s appearance. But he could see the faint outline of him in the sky.

An ordinary man with short white hair and pale skin. He raised his hand toward the demon.

Darkness flooded out and enveloped the demon entirely. It didn’t even have the chance to resist.

"Abyss?! You are..." The demon roared into oblivion.

Its existence was wiped clean, no longer present in any world. Even though it only had a projection here.

Siderius sat on his butt. He didn’t want to use the Vagrant Ring, he knew from the beginning when he got it that it would make him connect deeper to this ’God’. But he had no other choice.

He only had two. To die or to ask for help from a being which he couldn’t understand.

Siderius disappeared from the town. His two swords were still plunging into the ground.

When he opened his eyes again, he was on a floaty rock platform in an endless starry sky.

There was no one around, only silence.

"These structures... It is Santa Roberto’s castle..." Siderius mumbled. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

The floating platform and floating structures all around were reflections of the real world. He knew that they weren’t real.

"Does that mean... I am in the other hell?"

A voice came up behind him. "I wouldn’t say it as hell. But you do have a point."

Siderius slowly turned back. Standing near him was the Outsider, the young man with black hair.

He looked so ordinary that one might mistaken him for a mortal.

But Siderius knew better.

He let out a long breath and bowed.

"Thank you for saving me, Old Lord."

"Don’t mention it. I did it for a reason."

"I know." Siderius said. "Name your price, Old Lord."

"Pfft." The Outsider laughed. "You have nothing that I want, Siderius. The reason why I helped you is because I am interested in you.

I haven’t seen someone like you in Eldoria for a while."

"What do you mean, Old Lord?"

"Walk with me."

The Outsider flicked his hand. The platform rushed over and formed a stone bridge. He walked leisurely on the never-ending bridge with Siderius.

"You know. People want to eat. They want to drink. They love wealth and fame. And they love to make love.

Eldoria is a country of utmost desire. Everything and everyone does anything to accomplish its desire.

You, on the other hand. You always act against your desire, why?"

Siderius squinted his eyes gently. His pupils dilated slightly.

"I don’t know what you mean, Old Lord."

"Come on, Satterblade, Knight of the Holy Order, Grand Alchemist of Enderthal.

You don’t need to test me. I can see everything. Past, future, and present.

I am different than those minor gods with limited power."

"Then why did you let those witches defiled your churches?"

The Outsider smiled. "Because I don’t care.

A church is simply a church. What’s important are my followers. They’re interesting people.

You are interesting too, Satterblade. A man with the greatest desire but also with the most amount of constraint."

They continued to walk for a while before the Outsider spoke again, "So. Are you going to answer me? Why act against your desire?"

"I think you know the answer, Old Lord. I want to be more than just a mortal. I want to be like you. An immortal being that could never die or be hurt.

Desire is a shackle for a mortal."

"I see. Is that why you keep your distance with Ashe? Because the Snow inside you somehow feels a fire for her?"

"That is purely a bodily reaction, Old Lord. Snow is no longer here. I am Siderius Snow Satterblade. We are one. Not two."

"Not quite. Your Soul Fusion Seal wasn’t perfect."

For the first time in a long time, Siderius was genuinely surprised. He froze mid-step and widened his eyes.

The Outsider showed the first emotion from the beginning of the meeting. "Interesting, huh?"

"Can’t be. I have tested it many times."

"And yet, you failed. I am looking forward to what you’re going to do to Eldoria, Siderius. What kind of storm would you create and how the kingdom would turn out to be.

I have lived for a very very long time and I saw many things. You, the symbol of restraint and indifferent, versus the witches, beings without restraint and morals.

Who will win in this game, I wonder?

Whatever the result will be. I expect a good show."

The Outsider pushed Siderius off the bridge. His vision started to blur.

"My task for you is to go and rescue Eli. He was captured by a Baron in the North. His name is... Varick Hallolass."

When Siderius opened his eyes again, he had returned to the town. The demon was gone. Even the Karmic Vision couldn’t spot him any more.

Siderius looked down to his finger. The Vagrant Ring had turned from its gray color to a pristine white color.

The hunter tried to take it out but it wouldn’t budge.

"It seems like I have made a pact with that god..." Siderius rubbed his temple. Being connected to a god was the last thing he wanted. But what’s done is done, he now had to rescue Eli from whoever that Baron was.

"Hallolass... If I remember correctly, his territory is directly on the border with Everia. He is a war baron, a very powerful one and is reaching the level of a Lesser Witch."

Hallolass’ territory was not nearby. It would take at least two weeks to a month to get there.

"The Outsider didn’t give me a time constraint. Eli’s life is probably not threatened. He is only imprisoned."

Siderius stood up, dusted his clothes and took his swords back. The journey to this town was less than desirable.

Now, he would continue on his journey of finding a good specimen for his third Sonara.

The two other ’interesting’ places were a lake and another town.

There was a young girl that was possessed in that town. The culprit behind it might be another demon.

The other was a monster fish in a lake.

Siderius looked at the ring on his finger. "Well. Since I am already blessed by a god. Better check out that possessed girl first."
