Chapter 161: Dealing with Kaida

Ravi sighed. Although he was so angry, he could not even be hardened enough to give these people what they deserved. He felt the cold in his chest wrapping around him and he missed him.

His flame.

Ravi vanished, leaving behind the cry of a young woman in the plains, "Please don’t leave me here."

***

Draken Pizzeria was the place to be for family and lovers in Davenport. The owner, Ferdinand Olsen had moved to Davenport 200 years ago and opened the store that had become a town favorite for centuries.

The atmosphere was vibrant, the aroma of freshly baked crust and melting mozzarella was tantalizing to the senses as chatter filled the air.

Next to the window was a beautiful woman in a blue sundress, she casually glanced across the crowd before returning to her phone.

"Fluxx?" novelbuddy.cσ๓

The shadow shimmered and a young man appeared in front of her.

"Yes, priestess."

"Go to the shopping mall, buy a bone saw, a kerosene keg, and a match. I think my thrall might need a little incentive."

Fluxx’s expression did not change. Dead brown eyes just stared at the woman, "Yes, priestess."

She waited for thirty minutes and Fluxx returned with the item in his hand. Kaida looked at her phone again, a frown gracing her features.

Among her team, Helena was the most responsible, according to her orders, she should send her a report every thirty minutes but it was already thirty-three minutes and she had gotten one.

Her fingers twitched. She hated disobedience.

Another thirty minutes went by and Kaida narrowed her eyes, looking at the phone and the door. The pizzeria was a few feet away from the library and she had not seen the thrall.

She frowned. Everything must be done in order if one should be successful, all her plans since coming to Davenport had not been going as she pleased.

The bomb was already placed, once she got the thrall and returned to the van. She could send a message to the Alstria news stations and activate it, it should keep the heroes and police busy, enough for her team to get the diamond and get out.

360 million dollars. This was a heist so tempting that she could not help but take a bite of the cake. According to the phantom agreement, 155 million dollars was hers, she would use 25 million dollars to settle Vega for all his help so far and the remaining 130 million would be shared between Nova, Victor, and Helena.

Victor was getting a little hard to use, should she just kill him and get a better replacement?

"Fluxx, I have a mission for you after this heist."

"Yes, priestess." He replied obediently.

Kaida looked at her phone again and she could not just relax, "I would return to the base. You stay here and wait for the thrall. If he is not here in another 30 minutes..." She took out two syringes, "Do away with his minders and bring him here. Be discreet, the last thing that we need at this moment is any kind of attention. Do you understand?"

"Yes, priestess." Sage watched her stand up and leave. He looked at the syringe on the table and touched it carefully, he traced it on his veins before swallowing and pocketing it.

Kaida entered the ordinary-looking jeep and drove to the woods. Seeing the white delivery company van, she moved towards it, she suddenly stopped when she recognized the body on the ground.

Helena. She bent down and inspected the wound. It was too large to be a knife, the shape, this should be a sword. She had died from blood loss.

Kaida did not bother to go and look for Nova and Victor. They were probably all dead.

"Who are you?" She asked as she looked around. It was not the first time in her life that her team had been attacked and killed. Sometimes it was from a wanna-be priestess from the Infernal Covenant. Kill a priestess and you can take her place, this was the unwritten rule.

She had done the same to her mistress so she did not fault them for coming for her but to come for her then at least, you should possess a strength that was worth looking at.

As for the team, they were irrelevant. This was not the first team she had nor would it be the last, she was the most important person as long as she was alive then the Phantom was alive.

"Who are you?" Kaida asked again, "Forget ambushing me. If you want to kill me, at least you should have the courage to stand in front of me and take my life." Her entire body was extremely relaxed and she took out a black band to tie her head. Her eyes were clear and her heart contained an unspeakable conviction like iron.

"Walk forward and you will see me." A clear voice sounded in the forest. The voice was calm, a bit soft even but it made Kaida’s eyes widen. She had dined with the strong. She recognized the strong.

Activating her suit, the light green alloy danced across her skin and she walked forward. The pretty man.

His face was not easily forgettable, the lover and the guardian.

"Did you also come for the diamond?" It was quite the tactic, getting close to the Bureau Captain and then taking her shapeshifter.

"The diamond? Your team came to steal a diamond."

"So not the diamond then. Why? The shapeshifter? You want him." She looked at Ravi, taking in all the expression on his face, "You are angry because of him. If you wanted him, you should have just as. Everyone knows that I can lend him for a certain price. It was a pity that the last deal I made with the Duplicator made me lose him."

Ravi looked at her, "One passing by would mistake you for speaking about an object you bought at a fair."

"But I bought him. Not in a fair though, an audition house. A good one, they have the best humans there. The shapeshifter was a bit troublesome, he was not trained until Fluxx and Jesim, when I bought them, they were fully trained. Obedient and submissive, just the way I like them."

It is universally acknowledged that you can not argue with a mad person. To this woman, she did not do anything wrong.

Ravi did not bother to argue with her but the anger in his heart continued to rise with each passing minute.

The woman was the first to attack him, an energy moved around her fists and she charged forward, her fists like hammers that wanted to crush everything before her. The force around her punch broke the air causing a thunderous boom to sound

This was different from Nova who had super strength, his fists were supported by something else. Rather than the strength behind the fist, it was the energy of gravity that attacked Ravi first.

She used gravity to reinforce her attacks, increasing the heaviness with each punch.

Not many people manipulated gravity like this but Kadia could do so easily.

The space suddenly trembled and rippled but Ravi did not mind it at all. He stretched out his arm and caught the energy.

With a light pat, all the ferocious waves of energy returned back to the woman. The punches came so quickly causing Kadia to take several steps backwards.

Ravi raised a brow, an ordinary person should have flung through the air and slammed to the ground. He looked at her from up to down, recognizing the alloy suit on her body to be what was centering her.

Kadia did not waste any time before she entered with her strongest attack. A terrifying rumble exuded from her position and spread throughout where she was standing.

Ravi lifted one eyebrow. It was indeed gravity manipulation. He felt as if his body had become lead. Gravity tore at him, trying to crush him to the ground.

It was a very versatile power in the Sentinel and one of the most coveted, one could make themselves as light as a feather, and increase the effects of gravity a millionfold on their enemies.

It was a pity compared to the people who had fought against, this Kaida was just a little cockroach.

Perhaps that was while it was so painful, someone just consequential had so gravely hurt a person he loved so much.

"I have a very small heart with a very small number of people in it. The shapeshifter’s name is Asher. He is my ward. When you go to the Netherworld, never forget all your sufferings after this because you hurt Asher."

The light gray force of gravity around Ravi shimmered and suddenly broke. In an instant, he appeared in front of Kaida.

Her eyes widened and the shock reflected in those depths. Nobody, nobody has ever broken out of her gravity force field, and yet this person had, so easily.

It suddenly dawned on her, that she had offended someone she should not have and for the first time in forty years, she felt a cold tendril of fear wrap around her.
