I Became My Healer Elf Character-Chapter 82: Draconian Descent
"What will happen now?" The mermaid asked.
Hikari looked around her at the vast ocean. "It looks like you'll be able to live, so there's no need of any ceremony."
"I don't understand why a goddess would save me. What about Lord Mosa?"
"You can forget about that guy. He's been completely obliterated."
Soon the two of them were joined by Kurayami who flapped her wings beside her master. The dragon looked down at the poor mermaid. "Master, you're not planning on adding this one to your harem, too. Are you?"
Hikari glared at the silly dragon. "Why would I go around adding mermaids to my harem? I was just curious about them. I'd be interested to see where they live and why they haven't surfaced all of these years."
"Goddess," the mermaid said, "that second question is easy to answer. The reason for that lies in Lord Mosa. He offered us his protection with the promise of a sacrifice every year. Leaving the land was forbidden...Wait, what will happen to our protection now?"
Hikari sighed. "It seems like this Lord Mosa was simply using your tribe. You believe me to be a goddess, correct?"
The mermaid nodded.
"And you believe that Lord Mosa was a god also?"
Once again, the mermaid nodded.
"Then tell me why I was able to kill him in one attack. Do you really think gods would die in one hit?"
"If it's Master…" The dragon started before she was silenced by a wave of Hikari's hand.
The mermaid pondered the query asked of her. She appeared deep in thought. Hikari noticed that while the creature was surfaced, her gills slowly retracted into her neck, and the mermaid breathed normally.
Finally, the idea seemed to dawn on her. The mermaid spoke slowly with unease. "Are you saying that Lord Mosa wasn't a god?"
"Yep. Rather than being a god, your lord was closer to a demigod. Ah, but enough of this. My name's Hikari, little one. What's yours?"
"Goddess Hikari? I'm Miliana, the princess of the mermaid tribe."
"Another princess. Hmm, you don't have to call me goddess. Please, just call me Hikari like everyone else."
"Master," Kurayami said, "no one calls you that." She looked down at the mermaid and nodded. "You will refer to her as Lady, Master, Mistress, or Goddess. Do you understand?"
"Yes!"
"Good, and you can call me Kurayami."
Hikari didn't like where this was going. She looked towards Kurayami helplessly. "How come I get a title, and she must refer to me this way?"
"Because Master is the master after all. It's only natural that everyone in this world would refer to you with the respect you deserve."
Hikari wanted to pout, but she refrained, maintaining her dignity in front of the little mermaid. "Incidentally, where is this home of yours?"
Miliana looked down at the water. "Yes, My Lady. Our kingdom is deep underwater. Once you get past The Dark, you will arrive at a trench, and that's where our kingdom is."
"The Dark?"
"Between the surface and the mermaid kingdom, there's a vastly dark region where several Titans find their home. One has to swim through it to get down there."
"I see, that must have been where Lord Mosa came from."
Miliana nodded. "Lord Mosa was king of The Dark and ruler of the deep. Now that he's gone…"
"Don't worry about it. Instead, how about leading us down there?"
The mermaid's eyes widened. She looked at the gorgeous white wings of the elven goddess. "You, My Lady?"
Hikari looked back at her own feathery wings and shrugged. "I can get down there no problem. Wait right here for a second. I need to speak to my friends on the ship. Kurayami, stay with her for now. If anything approaches you're free to destroy it. Unless it's another mermaid."
The elf flew back to her ship, and Amelia was the first to greet her with the kids.
"I already heard everything, and you can count me out. There's no way I'm diving under the deep water." The pink-haired goddess grimaced at the thought of it.
"Well, I won't force you to go, and that's why I came over here. I want you to continue sailing to the big island. You can wait for us there." Hikari looked towards Ayase. "And what about you? Are you going to come with us?"
"Are you kidding? I would never miss a moment to look at an undocumented kingdom. Besides, I also want to be by your side with this."
Mizuko nodded. "I also want to be with you, Mistress. But how do you plan to take Ayase and me?"
"That part is easy. I'm sure Kurayami can get down there by herself, but for you two, I can protect us with a barrier. Hopefully, I'll not have to do that when we enter the mermaid kingdom. We could all ride down there on Kurayami's back."
Hikari finished explaining everything to the maids. They'd set sail, and if they came across any problems, they'd reach out to their goddess. The elf didn't expect that there'd be no problems considering the Empire, but she hoped for the better. Hope. Such a good word.
Once the group was ready, they flew back towards the dragon. Ayase could fly for a bit using her own magic and a broom, yet Mizuko had bat wings she could sprout at any time.
Hikari felt that the children would be well protected under a literal goddess and an army of maids—many of them angels. The ranks of the divine were definitely strange. By all accounts, it should be that Kurayami and Mizuko are angels as well. They are directly under Hikari, and she's supposed to be their goddess. Yet Kurayami was a so called Divine Dragon and an Apostle, but Mizuko was essentially a divine vampire. The two terms created a hilarious juxtaposition in Hikari's mind. \\
The elf shook those thoughts and looked at her dragon, ordering her to transform.
Miliana was startled by the sudden transformation. She watched as the once cute girl became a massive dragon, the black scales threatening to swallow all of the light in their surroundings. And the dragon's size was enough to block the sun, hovering low in the background.
Ayase was also spooked by the transformation. She smiled wryly at the dragon's enormity. "I knew you were a dragon this whole time, but somehow seeing this transformation really cements it."
Kurayami breathed a puff of warm air through her larger nostrils. "Of course, anyone would be astonished by it. After all, I am the Master's strongest."
Ayase looked towards Mizuko for confirmation.
The vampire shrugged and flapped her wings. "As much as I loathe to admit it, she speaks the truth. Kurayami can be considered a goddess in her own right, yet she swears fealty towards our Mistress."
"I'm just glad both of you are on our side. I used to think I was someone powerful, yet even my strongest snake would not be able to do anything to this dragon."
Miliana looked up between Kurayami and Hikari nervously.
"Don't worry," Hikari said. "Like I said before, I don't bite, and neither does this big dragon."
"That's not entirely true, Master. I'd love to take a bite out of you right now."
"Nobody's taking a bite out of anyone! You're only going to take us to the mermaid kingdom and follow behind Miliana."
The elf and her two lovers jumped onto the dragon. Hikari wrapped the vampire and the witch in a thin light barrier. The goddess reasoned she could easily funnel oxygen by simply taking from her domain. At the same time, she wondered if she even needed to do that. Maybe it was possible she could just summon air.
However, Kurayami didn't give her any time to ruminate on that thought. The dragon folded her massive wings to her sides and took a plunge head first towards the water.
The dove beneath the surface, and her massive frame created ripples on the water. Miliana realized what the dragon was doing just in time, and she had already descended further down.
Ayase protested while gripping onto a horn. "Hey, you stupid dragon! Warn somebody next time!"

The dragon chuckled beneath the surface. Hikari noticed that between the massive digits at the bottom of the dragon's legs, webbing formed to make swimming easier. The tucking of the wings made it so Kurayami's body was more streamlined for swimming.
All of it made Hikari realize that it probably would have been faster if they'd just rode the dragon from the beach. Yet it was unlikely that Amelia would want to do that.
Ayase noticed that her clothes stayed dry due to the thin barrier and sang her praise. "Yes! I would have hated for these to get wet. Especially this hat you gave me."
"My clothes would stay dry no matter what I do."
"You're so lucky!"
Hikari looked towards Miliana. "Lead the way, and we'll follow."
