I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 576 - 423 Leaving_2
Shaky, hardly worth mentioning.
...
「The next morning.」
Just after finishing the breakfast Chu Lingmu had prepared for him, Xia Liang’s phone began to ring.
"Who is it?" asked Chu Lingmu, poking her head out from the kitchen where she was washing dishes.
"A friend." Looking at the name on his phone, Xia Liang replied offhandedly before answering the call. The caller was Lin Yaoyang, the Director of Qingyun City People’s Hospital.
"Director Lin," Xia Liang said, "what made you think of calling me all of a sudden?"
Since leaving Qingyun City, Xia Liang hadn’t had much contact with Lin Yaoyang, but they still had each other’s contact information.
"Master Xia, I’m not sure where you are right now, but I’d like to ask for your help." Lin Yaoyang’s tone was anxious, suggesting he had thought long and hard before making the call.
"I’m in Jinling right now. Just tell me what you need."
"Master Xia, have you had any thoughts about visiting Haojiang City recently?"
Hearing this, Xia Liang laughed. It seemed Director Lin wanted his help with something related to Haojiang City but didn’t dare ask directly, so he was beating around the bush.
"Director Lin, there’s no need to beat around the bush. Just tell me what it is."
"Then I’ll just say it." On the other end of the line, Lin Yaoyang swallowed nervously before continuing. "I have a nephew who wants to open an entertainment city in Haojiang City, and he was hoping Master Xia could attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony. I was wondering if Grand Master Xia has time."
"Opening an entertainment city in Haojiang City? Your nephew is no ordinary person," Xia Liang remarked, genuinely surprised.
Haojiang was the Las Vegas of Huaxia, one of the four largest gambling capitals in the world. Opening an entertainment city there was something ordinary people couldn’t achieve even with money. Xia Liang hadn’t expected Lin Yaoyang to have such an impressive relative.
Lin Yaoyang himself felt rather helpless. He wasn’t particularly close to this distant nephew. They had only shared a meal recently where, after drinking too much, Lin Yaoyang had started bragging, sharing some stories about Xia Liang. He had even claimed to be quite close with him, saying that his nephew could just reach out if he ever needed anything.
He had spoken casually, but his nephew had listened intently. Most people at the table hadn’t taken Lin Yaoyang’s words seriously, but his nephew had. Back in Qingyun City, Xia Liang’s reputation had spread far and wide. After a casual inquiry, Lin Yaoyang’s nephew learned all about him and had called his uncle to ask for an introduction, hoping to invite Xia Liang to cut the ribbon.
But Lin Yaoyang felt cornered. His relationship with Xia Liang was, at best, one of acquaintances. Xia Liang had helped him treat Fang Tian, earning Lin Yaoyang much praise and honor. Xia Liang had even saved his entire family. Despite this, Lin Yaoyang still felt that Xia Liang might not agree to his request.
"He just got lucky and made some money," Lin Yaoyang continued. "I was just wondering if Master Xia has the time."
"When is your nephew’s ribbon-cutting ceremony?"
"Anytime. He said he can wait for you, Grand Master Xia. Whenever you can make it, he’ll schedule the ribbon-cutting." Worried that Xia Liang might refuse, Lin Yaoyang anxiously added, "He said that as long as you help with the ribbon-cutting, he is willing to offer ten million Yuan as compensation."
When he mentioned the sum, Lin Yaoyang himself gulped. Ten million Yuan just for cutting a ribbon—the money was almost too easy. What he didn’t know was that in Jinling, you could offer one hundred million Yuan for a divination from Xia Liang, and he still might not agree.
"Alright. I’ll stay in Jinling for a few more days, then head to Haojiang for a visit." After a moment of thought, Xia Liang agreed. After all, he had wanted to visit Haojiang for a long time.
"Excellent! Thank you, Master Xia!"
After hanging up, Lin Yaoyang felt as if he had broken out in a cold sweat. But he immediately called his nephew and started boasting once more...
「A week later.」
Xia Liang slowly walked out of Haojiang City’s airport, taking a deep breath of the fresh air. Just like his previous trips, he hadn’t asked Lin Tian to pick him up, as he preferred a bit more freedom. Lin Tian was Lin Yaoyang’s distant nephew. Xia Liang had even come to Haojiang City by himself. Chu Lingmu had her own matters to attend to and didn’t accompany him after showing him around Jinling for a week.
After leaving the airport, Xia Liang planned to head straight to his hotel to rest. Besides, the entertainment city Lin Tian was opening wasn’t far from his hotel.
Just as Xia Liang was about to hail a taxi by the roadside, a luxury car parked nearby caught his attention. It wasn’t extravagantly expensive, but what truly made him stop were the people standing beside it. They all looked like bodyguards, strong and muscular. Their imposing aura made other people keep their distance.
But in Xia Liang’s eyes, the top of each person’s head was shrouded in a faint black mist—a mist only he could see. He could often perceive faint black or gray shadows on certain people’s foreheads. Back at the Chu Family Hotel, he had seen similar dark omens lingering over Old Master Chu’s head. With a single glance, he could tell who was about to run into trouble.
And it wasn’t an isolated case; every person in the group had the same aura.
Could it be that they’re all about to get into an accident?
Frowning, Xia Liang wondered whether he should intervene. The person these bodyguards were waiting for then emerged from the airport.
Glancing at the man, Xia Liang was taken aback. Isn’t that He Xiaojun, the youngest son of Haojiang’s First Widow? What’s he doing here?
He Xiaojun, however, didn’t know Xia Liang. He walked over to his car, spoke briefly with his bodyguards, and then made a phone call, drawing looks from many bystanders. This He Xiaojun was rumored to be marrying a model in the next couple of days, so it was no surprise many people recognized him; after all, who wouldn’t be jealous of someone so talented and wealthy?
Yet in Xia Liang’s eyes, He Xiaojun’s head, just like his bodyguards’, was shrouded in a black haze. The driver was the only one whose head was shrouded in slightly less black mist.
Suspecting they were headed for an accident, Xia Liang began to divine their fate with a pinch of his fingers. As information flooded his mind, Xia Liang searched for the reason behind the dark omens.
"At 2:51:20 p.m., while traveling toward Linhai Villa, He Xiaojun’s vehicle will encounter a road collapse on Nine Winding Road. A crash will occur, and everyone in the car will die, except for the driver, who will be severely injured."
This was the last entry in He Xiaojun’s fate. Looking at the message, Xia Liang’s brow furrowed. He continued his calculations, probing the individual destinies of everyone involved in the impending crash. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
As someone who roamed the world, Xia Liang knew he couldn’t help everyone he met. But if he divined someone’s fate, he would do his best to help, provided their pasts didn’t hold too many unsightly deeds. In other words, they had to be good people.
After a quick scan of their lives, Xia Liang found no record of any evil acts. A person’s destiny trajectory would typically highlight major events, especially those that affected others. But He Xiaojun, his bodyguards, and his driver had committed no evil. In fact, many of them had performed good deeds.
Meanwhile, after finishing his phone call, He Xiaojun was preparing to get into the car, which the driver had already started.
Since that was the case, Xia Liang slowly approached. Under the suspicious gazes of several bodyguards, he came to stand before He Xiaojun.
"Excuse me, sir, can I help you?" He Xiaojun asked, looking at the man who had appeared before him.
Instead of answering directly, Xia Liang countered with a question of his own. "Are you planning to take Nine Winding Road back to the Linhai Villa District?"
Hearing this, He Xiaojun froze. A look of utter confusion appeared in his eyes. His itinerary for the day was confidential, and his decision to go to the Linhai Villa District was one he had made only moments ago during his phone call.
