I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 577 - 424 Not Depending on This
Even the driver thought they were going to a different place. He wondered how the man in front of him had guessed their real destination.
"How do you know I’m going to Linhai Villa? Who are you?" He Xiaojun demanded, but Xia Liang just chuckled.
"Don’t worry about how I know. I just need to remind you not to take Nine Winding Road. You should choose another route." He paused, then continued in the face of He Xiaojun’s confused stare, "Otherwise, you’ll get into an accident."
"Why? How do you know this?"
The doubt in He Xiaojun’s eyes intensified, but Xia Liang didn’t answer him, already starting to turn away.
"I’m just giving you a kind warning. I wouldn’t want your unborn son to be fatherless. As for whether you believe me or not, that’s none of my business."
"Son? I don’t even have a child, let alone a son! Who on earth are you, and what are you talking about?"
He Xiaojun’s confusion deepened. After saying his piece, Xia Liang ignored He Xiaojun calling out from behind him, got straight into a nearby taxi, and drove away from the airport, leaving him in the dust.
Fate has brought us this far. I’ve told you what you need to know. Whether you believe it and survive is your own business. I’m not a nanny; I can’t arrange everything for you.
As he rode away in the taxi, Xia Liang didn’t bother to recalculate He Xiaojun’s new trajectory of fate. He had no way of knowing if the man would heed his warning and avoid Nine Winding Road.
As for He Xiaojun, he watched Xia Liang leave, then shook his head and muttered to himself, "What a strange man."
He then got into his car and said to the driver, "To Linhai Villa. Take the shortest route, Nine Winding Road."
"Right away, Young Master!" The driver nodded and started the car.
「Ten minutes later.」
Putting down his documents and taking off his glasses, He Xiaojun gazed at the scenery outside and asked casually, "Where are we now?"
He hadn’t been back to Haojiang for a while, so he didn’t recognize much of the scenery. Nine Winding Road was a shortcut to the villa district and usually had very little traffic.
"We’re on Nine Winding Road now, Young Master."
Hearing this, He Xiaojun, for some unknown reason, suddenly thought of Xia Liang, whom he had met at the airport.
Telling me he didn’t want my son to be fatherless and that I’d have an accident on Nine Winding Road... how ridiculous. Was he trying to scam me? But he never even asked for money...
Shaking his head, unable to figure it out, He Xiaojun was just about to take a nap when his phone suddenly rang. The caller was none other than his fiancée.
"What is it, Nuannuan? Why the sudden call? You mentioned you weren’t feeling well a couple of days ago. Did you go to the hospital for a check-up?"
An excited voice soon came through from the other end. "That’s why I’m calling! I’m fine, and I have some good news to tell you..."
"What good news?" He Xiaojun asked, his curiosity piqued.
After a few seconds of pause, her voice came through slowly. "You’re going to be a father."
"I’m going to be a father? You mean you’re pregnant?" He Xiaojun’s voice filled with excitement.
"Yes! I just got the lab results and you’re the first person I called."
A grin stretched across He Xiaojun’s face, reaching from ear to ear. "This is fantastic! I can’t believe I’m going to be a father."
Just as he said this, He Xiaojun seemed to remember something and froze instantly. The color drained from his face, replaced by a look of shock. The words Xia Liang had spoken to him at the airport echoed in his ears once more.
"Hello, what’s wrong? Are you still there?" she asked, finding his sudden silence strange.
He Xiaojun hurriedly asked, "This news about your pregnancy, have you told anyone else?"
"Didn’t I just say? The moment I got the lab results, I called you immediately. I haven’t had time to tell anyone else yet," she replied, her voice tinged with confusion.
"Good! Well, take good care of yourself for the next couple of days. I’ll come pick you up when you get back to Haojiang."
After a bit more small talk, he hung up. He Xiaojun stared at the road ahead, his mind reeling with countless questions. The unease in his heart grew, and the stranger’s words swirled in his mind.
"I’m just giving you a kind warning. I wouldn’t want your unborn son to be fatherless."
"I need to remind you... don’t take Nine Winding Road... you’ll get into an accident."
The more he thought about it, the stronger his anxiety became. Finally, he said to the driver, "Stop the car! Take another route back. Don’t take Nine Winding Road anymore."
"But, Young Master, if we change routes now, it’ll probably add an extra hour to our trip."
"It doesn’t matter! Change it." He Xiaojun nodded firmly.
"Alright."
The driver didn’t question the order. He turned the car around, leaving Nine Winding Road the way they had come and choosing the longer route.
Half an hour later, while on this new road, He Xiaojun’s phone rang again. This time, the call was from his father, Haojiang’s richest man, He Youling. He was also the one who had called him at the airport earlier.
"Hello? Xiao Jun, are you all right? Where are you right now?"
The moment he answered, a torrent of frantic questions poured from the phone.
"Dad, I’m on my way back now. Of course I’m fine. What’s wrong? You sound very worried."
