I Become The Richest Man With A monthly Salary of Twenty Thousand Yuan-Chapter 613 - 442 Leaving
The last zombie movie Xia Liang had enjoyed was filmed decades ago.
"That’s right." Wu Tong nodded eagerly. "The director is very ambitious. He wants to use this film to restore Xiangjiang’s zombie movies to their former glory."
"That’s good. I’m becoming more interested in zombie movies myself," Xia Liang nodded. Regardless of the director’s capabilities, having ambition was always a good thing.
"So, Grand Master Xia, what are your plans? Will you be staying in Haojiang?" Wu Tong asked.
Xia Liang suddenly turned to look at her. "I don’t plan on staying in Haojiang either. My business here is finished. We’re leaving this afternoon."
"Leaving this afternoon... wait a second." Wu Tong caught something in his words. "We?"
"That’s right!" A smile lifted the corners of Xia Liang’s mouth. "We’re going to Xiangjiang."
「That same afternoon.」
At a pier in Haojiang, Xia Liang and a mask-wearing Wu Tong were waiting for the ferry.
There were many ways to travel from Haojiang to Xiangjiang. If it were Wu Tong or the He Family, they would have definitely taken a helicopter. When Wu Tong learned that Xia Liang also wanted to visit Xiangjiang for fun, she offered to arrange a helicopter, but he refused.
He wanted to take the ferry to see the coastal scenery, believing one could only truly appreciate the sea’s charm while on the water. Besides, the modern jetfoils were quite comfortable.
A few minutes later, the two boarded the jetfoil bound for Xiangjiang.
In the top-level VIP cabin, there were only twenty seats. Xia Liang and Wu Tong sat in the outermost ones, letting the gentle sea breeze make their moods incredibly pleasant.
The ferry was part of the He Family’s business empire, but Xia Liang hadn’t notified them of his departure from Haojiang. He had never been one to cause trouble.
Within minutes, the VIP cabin began to fill up. Although most of the wealthy from Haojiang and Xiangjiang preferred to travel by helicopter, many still enjoyed the sea route. With a single glance, Xia Liang could tell that many in the cabin were affluent ladies. The jewelry they wore was quite expensive.
Xia Liang thought that was everyone, but just before the ferry set sail, a foreigner hurried in and took a seat in front of him. The ferry departed almost the instant he sat down.
The ferry sailed smoothly for half an hour until the laughter of the foreigner who had come in last caught Xia Liang’s attention.
Next to this foreigner sat a man from Xiangjiang who was watching an old Xiangjiang zombie movie. The film had just reached a scene where the protagonist sought a Fengshui Grandmaster for fortune telling. The foreigner burst out laughing when he happened to glance over and see that scene.
"What are you laughing at?" the man from Xiangjiang next to him asked with a frown.
The foreigner wiped a tear of laughter from the corner of his eye. "I just find this movie hilarious. When faced with a zombie, why seek out some fraudulent Mage instead of the Protectors? All this feng shui and fortune-telling stuff is completely fake." His Mandarin was quite good.
"Fraudulent?" The man from Xiangjiang grew irritated. "Our Dragon Country has spoken of feng shui and dragon veins since ancient times. The practices of face-reading and divination have been passed down for generations. Naturally, only a Mage can deal with zombies. On what grounds do you call it fake?"
Hearing this, the foreigner stared for a moment, then burst into laughter again. "You don’t actually believe that zombies existed, do you? Or that some people can really analyze feng shui and tell fortunes?"
"Of course," the man from Xiangjiang replied with a firm nod.
"That’s ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! I can’t believe that even in the twenty-first century, you people from the Dragon Country are still so superstitious. We must believe in science! All this nonsense about zombies and Taoist Mages is fake."
This comment instantly drew the ire of everyone nearby. A few hot-blooded young men even looked ready to get physical.
Watching the foreigner before him, Xia Liang smiled slowly and said, "My friend, you shouldn’t speak in such absolutes."
His words drew Luodan’s attention, and Xia Liang continued, "Just because you’ve never seen something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist."
Hearing this, the foreigner, Luodan, gave a derisive laugh. "That’s because those things don’t exist, which is precisely why I’ll never see them. Your Dragon Country’s so-called feng shui secrets and fortune-telling are nothing but superstition."
As a materialist and an atheist, Luodan refused to believe in anything science couldn’t explain.
Beside Xia Liang, Wu Tong quickly retorted, "That’s because you’re superficial! In our Dragon Country, not only do these things exist, but there are even Living Immortals among us!"
As she spoke, Wu Tong shot a meaningful glance at Xia Liang and squeezed his arm a little tighter.
However, upon hearing this, the other passengers were uncharacteristically silent. Although they disliked hearing an outsider question the five-thousand-year history of the Dragon Country’s civilization, Wu Tong’s claim about a Living Immortal being in their midst was a bit too much. After all, none of them had ever seen one.
Luodan, however, looked at the pair with a strange expression, as if he thought they were beyond help.
