Chapter 76: Something Doesn’t Feel Right

After Megan returned from her date with Henry, she arrived home at 1am as they had gone to spend some time together by walking around and chatting about things while looking at the sea view from the park.

"Huft... I was tired. But it was worth it because Henry has really changed," she muttered as she entered the house.

She took off her shoes and walked towards the kitchen to get a drink that she would take to her room.

It turned out that Odelia was in the kitchen getting a drink too. She turned her head and smiled at Megan who had at home.

"How was the date? Everything okay?" she asked.

"Yes, Henry took me to some fun places. We talked about high school and stuff," Megan replied and picked up her glass.

"That’s good then. I’m glad things are going well. You must be exhausted, go to bed after this."

She nodded and let Odelia leave the kitchen. However, before she left, Odelia had said something about Megan telling Samuel about her problem because a few hours earlier he had called her and asked about it.

"Sam called? I see. I’m sorry I told him without asking your permission first. He needs to know that his sister is in big trouble," Megan said.

"You’re right, he’s always behind on my news. But after just a few minutes of chatting, he hung up because his girlfriend came over."

Spit!

Megan spit the water in her mouth onto the floor, surprised to hear that Samuel had a girlfriend. Odelia was even more surprised that Mengan spit out the water she had just drunk.

"He... Already has a girlfriend?" asked a shocked Megan.

"Yes, in the middle of our call, a woman’s voice called him ’honey’ and then the phone hung up shortly after," Odelia replied.

She was speechless when she found out, the same reaction Samuel had when he heard that Megan had gone on a date with someone. She had no idea that she already had a girlfriend.

’So he already has a girlfriend? Well... No wonder since he’s handsome and... Looks authoritative. Who wouldn’t be attracted to him? Moreover, Sam can definitely get any woman who is very beautiful and even young,’ she thought feeling somewhat disappointed but she didn’t understand why she should feel that way.

"Megan, what’s wrong? Why are you being quiet?" asked Odelia who felt worried.

"Huh? Ah no, it’s nothing. I’m just surprised he has a girlfriend. Ahahaha... He’s just as annoying as Sean. But even Sean can get a great woman like you. I’m sure Sam will too," she replied with a chuckle.

However, the ginger-haired woman didn’t join in the laughter as she became increasingly worried. Her hand reached for Megan’s and grasped it.

"Are you okay?"

She fell silent again before finally releasing Odelia’s hand from hers. Saying she was fine and just a little tired and a little drunk. Megan wiped away the water that had pooled on the floor because of her and then took her glass to her room.

In her room, she lay down and looked up at the ceiling of her room. Trying to figure out what was wrong with this.

"Sam has a girlfriend, isn’t that great? Well although he’ll definitely enjoy teasing me because I don’t have a boyfriend. But I guess I’ll get one anyway, right? Henry... Seems interested in me. Maybe I can be his girlfriend after he asks me out again and again someday!" she said to herself.

Even so, there was still an uncomfortable feeling that surfaced in her mind right now. Like disappointment and tiredness.

"Forget it. You have too many stupid expectations, especially from a guy like him, Megan."

Feeling tired, Megan slowly fell asleep while trying to forget all that. Letting it go from her mind at the moment.

*****

In the morning, Megan woke up with a sore head. She would have loved to sleep longer, but her habit of waking up early meant she couldn’t get up at noon.

Her hand reached into the drawer next to her bed and grabbed her cell phone. With sleepy eyes, she checked her cell phone messages every time she woke up.

"Mnn... A message from Sam? What does he want to send me a message so early? Ahh... It must be 10 o’clock in Dormania," she muttered and opened the message.

[STUPID SAM]

Hey, how was your date last night? I feel sorry for the guy you were dating.

Reading the message, Megan was annoyed that her morning had started with Samuel’s annoying teasing.

[MEGAN]

What are you talking about? My date is happy. I even got back at 1am this morning.

She then sent him a selfie of herself last night wearing a beautiful off-shoulder dress that made her look elegant.

After a few minutes, Samuel finally answered her message again.

[STUPID SAMUEL]

It’s early in the morning like this that you’re already sending me a picture of an ugly witch.

[MEGAN]

I’m not an ugly witch! You’re the one who can’t see my beauty, you’re really annoying!

[STUPID SAMUEL]

Your date must be sorry, thinking he’s going on a date with an angel but it turns out to be a witch.

[MEGAN]

Shut up! You’re ruining my morning mood!

[MEGAN]

My date is much better than you anyway. He’s handsome, kind and gentle too. Not like you!

Megan sighed and covered her face with a pillow and screamed at the top of her lungs like a teenager who had just had a fight.

"Why is he so annoying? Is he trying to tease me because he has a girlfriend? Heh, I can do that too! Let’s see if we meet again, I’ll show off my boyfriend in front of him!" she said in exasperation.

However, for some reason she immediately fell silent. Like something was really wrong and the strange feeling from last night came back when she remembered Samuel who had a girlfriend.

Her eyes dropped, she squeezed the pillow and buried her face into it.

"Stupid Sam."

At the same time, Samuel was leaning against the balcony wall of his room. His eyes kept staring at the screen of his phone which showed the selfie that Megan had sent him a few minutes ago.

Visible in his eyes, there was something he couldn’t say but could hear loudly from what he was doing right now.

The man let out a long sigh and saved the photo to his favorite gallery.

"The world is very strange indeed."
