I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!-Chapter 52: Towards The Top
Thirty Minutes Later
Raiden looked at the arena, restored to brand-new condition after being destroyed by the foot of Yuna’s Terran, and at how fast they worked, and could only wonder in awe of the capabilities of different types of Terra Beasts.
The competition soon resumed, as Raiden stood there watching all types of Terrans compete with each other, it opened his eyes. But soon he got bored with it. In his eyes, the only ones who had somewhat of a potential in fighting with him were the seeded contestants, but alas, he won’t be facing any until he reaches the final round; they all were stacked in the second bracket.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, for the next round of the final 16, let us welcome our competitors once more, it’s Raiden and Roland!!"
"Finally, it’s our turn, let’s go, Woolie," Raiden called out as he started walking towards the stage. Just as he climbed up, a voice sounded out.
"I give up!!" Roland spoke with panic and fear written all over their face.
Hearing this, Raiden turned speechless. This was another thing he noticed.
Ever since his competition finished, all the other competitors seemed to be keeping their distance from him and looked at him from time to time with fear.
Was he really that scary??
"Wow, in a shocking turn of events ladies and gentlemen, the opponent has chosen to give up!! But then again, it is not that unexpected. With the power Raiden’s Team has shown so far, only the seeded competitors ever stand a chance against him!! Anyways, let’s give it up for Raiden and Woolie!!"
The audience cheered loudly, especially the girls, their screams piercing the air.
Raiden put on what he thought was his best smile, nodded at his opponent, before waving his hand at the crowd, who cheered even more loudly. They weren’t bothered by the bloody scene in the afternoon. If anything, it made them more hyped.
They all were adults in a war-torn world, and everyone had seen worse. What happened in the afternoon was tame by comparison. If anything, his vengeful nature just made them like him more, especially when it was Jacob who spoke rudely at the beginning.
Just like that, Raiden walked back to the stand and sat there with Woolie, watching the competition while getting bored.
"Yo! You were so awesome and brutal in the afternoon, man! I am a fan!!" Toby approached, cradling his Terran, who was sporting burns on top of his head.
"Hahaha, thank you. How about you, though? How did your match go? Did ya win?" Hearing Raiden’s words, Toby turned speechless.
"Did you forget who my match was against?? The School Council President. The strongest Battle Master of this year. Do you honestly think I had a chance?? Aren’t you overestimating me too much?? Even my mum doesn’t trust me that much."
Now it was Raiden’s turn to be speechless after hearing his words.
"Alright, alright, my fault."
"That’s better. But be careful in the future man, especially against Leon and his family." Toby warned in a low voice.
"Leon? Do you mean Jacob?" Raiden asked.
"No, I mean Leon. I don’t know if you remember, but I told you that Leon’s father works in the underworld. In fact, he controls it here in this city. And Jacob’s father? He works for him. He’s one of the most trusted advisors. He will come after you and your family, definitely. If you can, get out of the city and disappear. That’s the safest solution." Toby warned goodheartedly.
Hearing his words, Raiden nodded, his mood a little solemn. From what he had seen, his sister was safe here at school under Yuna, but himself? Not so much. He lived alone in the wilds, a perfect place to commit a crime.
"And with that, we have ourselves a winner!! Let us get ready for the next round, it’s your favourite dark horse of the year, Raiden!!" Harry announced loudly.
"Thank you for the warning, man. I’ll see what I can do. You are a good friend, fatty." Raiden patted his shoulders as he stood up to go on the stage once again.
"Who are you calling a fatty?! I am just healthy!!"
Raiden just waved his hand without looking back.
"...Oh, what’s this?? We are getting some new news about Raiden’s opponent. He forfeited the competition, making Raiden the winner by default!! Let’s have a loud cheer for our uncrowned dark horse!! Ladies and gentlemen, we will take 10 minutes break before we resume the competition once again!!"
Hearing this, Raiden paused in his footsteps, feeling awkward. He had exited in such a cool fashion, wouldn’t it look awkward if he walked back inside?? So he directly left the venue, walking towards the commentators’ booth.
Harry, who spotted Raiden walking their way, instantly felt wary before he picked up both the mics and clutched them close to his chest, while giving a look that said, ’Don’t you dare!’
Seeing this, Raiden didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
"Hey guys, I was hoping to talk to you. Especially you, beautiful big sister. Your hair looks so good!!" Raiden praised generously.
"Really?! Thank you. You are such a sweet boy." Hermoine smiled happily.
"Tch. What do you want, brat!" Harry commented from the side, glaring daggers at him. He personally didn’t like the boy too much after he snatched his mic last time.
"Nothing much. I just came over for a chat. Don’t mind me. I have a question for you guys. What do you think of my Woolie? Is he strong??" Raiden picked a confused Woolie and put him on the table in front of them.
Woolie:???
"...He is strong, very, very strong." Harry replied reticently.
"And cute too!! The cutest!" Hermoine hugged him, causing Woolie to struggle.
"Woo Woo!!" Who is cute?! I am Emperor!! A strong Emperor!!
"He is strong, right?! Would you say he is the strongest Woolie you’ve ever seen?"
"...What are you getting at?" Harry asked.
"Well, if he is really strong, and you think he is the strongest Woolie you’ve ever seen, would it be a stretch to call him Emperor Woolie?" Raiden continued to speak.
"You want us to call him Emperor Woolie?" Harry asked speechlessly.
"Done! Our cutest Emperor Woolie!!" Hermoine buried her head in Woolie’s soft body, causing him to complain, but the magnanimous Emperor Woolie let her go, due to her calling him Emperor.
Seeing his co-anchor agree even before he could say anything, Harry gave a resigned sigh.
For the next ten minutes, Raiden hung around the duo, talking to them and using his flattering skills to get into their good books.
"Let me tell you, Raiden, you might see us soon after this competition here." Hermoine spoke mysteriously.
"See you? Where?"
"Hehe, that’s a secret."
"Alright, you should go back now. The competition was starting. See you real soon." Harry waved. He had a good impression of this kid now.
Raiden nodded and went back towards the competitor’s box.
"Welcome back, people!! Let us kick off the next competition with a bang!! Please welcome the dark horse Raiden and Emp—what’s this?? Unbelievable!! Raiden’s opponent has given up once again!! He moves to the Top 4 uncontested!! Can he maintain this streak!!"
10 Minutes Later
"...his opponent gives up once again!! We have ourselves the first finalist!! Give it up for Raiden!! This final match between the Dark King and Queen of Verdant Hollow is about to begin!!"
