Chapter 53: Morgana Sol

"Raiden Ashford, right? Your little sister worked with me in the student council. I always thought she was a brilliant student. It seems her brother is the same." A girl with wavy red hair spoke.

Standing tall at 6’2, even taller than Raiden, she gave off pressure and a regal bearing, making anyone who met her gaze lower their head instinctively. Along with these features was a youthfulness that couldn’t be hidden.

On her shoulder was perched an eagle-like, aqua blue bird. It too had a royal aura around itself, like it was looking down on all creation. It was grooming its feathers, paying no attention to its surroundings.

"Haha, thank you for your praise, President. But you seem familiar. Have we met before?" Raiden laughed casually before replying. He couldn’t sense where he had met her, but he could swear he had talked to someone like her before.

"I am no longer the President or anything. Please, call me Morgana. And I believe it’s our first time meeting each other. Maybe we’ve come across each other in school." Morgana replied with impeccable manners and a smile on her face. She was curious about this civilian who made it this far.

But Raiden had stopped paying attention to her talking long ago. He was too busy thinking about where he had met her. He could swear he had seen her before.

"It’s finally the moment you’ve all been waiting for, people!! The final fight, the fight that will decide the champion!! On one side, we have Raiden Ashford, the one who has risen from the Ashes and became the biggest dark horse with his trusted partner, Emperor Woolie!! And on the other side we have—"

"I remember you now!! You are that dommy mommy from Alliance!!" Raiden’s voice echoed out in the crowd, effectively grabbing the attention of everyone in the audience.

Raiden also seemed to realise what he had done wrong, as he quickly clamped a hand over his mouth. But the harm was done.

"You!! Pervert!! Trash!!" Morgana gritted her teeth while blushing, as she glared at Raiden. Unlike the decent impression from the beginning, it was flipped. She swore she would have her grandpa hang him upside down after she won.

With a huff, she marched towards the stage, fire in her eyes.

"Ahem, against Raiden, we have Morgana Sol!! She has gone through the entire round unchallenged, with no one even daring to fight against her!! The only time we saw her take action was against another seeded contestant, Leon, where she ended a match with a single move!! It is truly a competition among the giants!!"

"Enough talk!! Start the match!!" Morgana interrupted Harry as soon as she saw Raiden take his place opposite to her.

The referee didn’t want to get caught in her anger, so with a single gesture, he said.

"Begin!!"

"Cinder, burn them to Ashes!!"

The phoenix rose from her shoulder and grew in size in front of Raiden, turning from a small pet-sized eagle to a 2-meter-tall majestic bird.

"Chirp!!~" With a resonant sound, Cinder unleashed a blue coloured fireball as big as Woolie.

"Woolie, go around it." Raiden instructed calmly. The phoenix didn’t seem that special to him.

That was until he saw the fireball hit the spot where Woolie was standing, melt into a puddle of goo, and create a giant hole there.

Raiden got quite a fright seeing this. He was sure Woolie couldn’t take a hit like that head-on!!

"Cinder, follow him! Fire Tackle!!" Morgana ordered.

"Chirrp!" The phoenix transformed into a bolt of blue lightning. It dived straight for Woolie, a sapphire blur that defied the naked eye, trailing a wake of scorching heat.

Raiden knew he couldn’t outrun this one. Might as well take it head-on!

"Woolie, Quick Attack, Horn Attack, take it head on!!"

"Woolie!!" Woolie’s eyes lit up!! It wasn’t a fan of running around anyway. He liked to tackle everything head-on.

Woolie horns started to grow on his forehead as he started concentrating power. He shattered the earth beneath his hooves, erupting into an impossibly fast charge.

BOOM!!

The collision was deafening. The ground buckled, turning the point of impact into a jagged crater as a thick cloud of dust enveloped them.

"Chirp!" With a pained cry, the phoenix broke out of it first, flying into the air, its sapphire blue coat looking worse for wear.

A second later, Woolie emerged from the settling dust. His face was stained black with soot, and his prized wool coat was singed and smoking, but his eyes remained locked on the sky at his opponent.

Seeing this, Morgana frowned. The opponent was able to take one of her moves. She didn’t expect to see such competition here in the arena. So she changed her strategies. Physical Attacks weren’t the strong suit of a Phoenix anyway.

"Fly high, Cinder, out of its reach!!" Morgana’s voice rang out like a command from a throne.

"Now, bloom—Sapphire Fire Flowers!"

Cinder flew high into the air before shooting a flaming projectile even higher into the air.

CRACK, BOOM!!

The fire projectile exploded into hundreds of parts, as small, sapphire flowers shaped with 5 petals started drifting down the sky.

Woolie watched this beautiful sight with wonder in his eyes.

Raiden, on the other hand, felt like cursing. Watching these flowers falling down from the sky like a mesmerising sky painting, he only had one thought in his mind.

’What bullshit is this?! This is what you call a Bronze-level Terra Beast?!’

"Woolie, don’t just stand there, remember your training! Dodge!!"

Just as he finished speaking, the small flowers hit the stage.

Boom!! Boom!! Boom!!

Woolie: (⊙o⊙)!!

Watching those flowers explode violently, Woolie snapped out of its stupor and started running between them with finesse, but the phoenix in the sky didn’t relent.

It fired 3 more moves into the sky, practically filling up the sky space with deadly yet mesmerising flowers.

Soon, the space for Woolie to dodge became smaller and smaller as the stage itself started catching fire.

Seeing this, Raiden knew he had no other choice. He hoped to save it for the main competition, but—

"Woolie, use Discharge!!"

"Woolie!!" Finally!

Woolie’s eyes started flashing violet with raw power, as the blue flower appeared directly in front of his face.

"Woo!~"

A violet flash of light exploded in the sky as both sapphire and violet colours collided violently, and the sky exploded.
