Chapter 188: The Weylines are Blocked

After Theoron left, he did what he was told and he called his generals.

He’d checked on some of the prisoners they’d taken from the packs, both shifters and vampires.

He’d spent hours torturing them enjoy the sound of their screams and the smell of their blood. It was how he released his pent up aggression and anger, the emotions and reaction’s he couldn’t direct at Ezelreth.

He was beginning to regret his alliance. He was starting to truly see the evil this man was. The death he carried with him, like he was the very essence of it in flesh.

He punished the prisoners the way he wished he could punish Ezelreth.

He had since made himself scarce around the pack, sticking to the dining hall and the prisons and the training grounds. He kept his horde of monsters tucked away, starving them, waiting for the next chance to set the loose.

When the prisoners died, he changed them, adding them to his army of Turned.

Rogues had been gathering new victims for Ezelreth, pulling them in through weylines until one day a rogue that went out got locked out.

There was no way to contact them, no way to open the gates and let them in.

When the guards realized this, they rushed to King Theoron to inform him of the gate blockage.

Bursting through the doors into the main hall two men stood before Rogue King Theoron gasping and panting. They clutched their chest as they tried to catch their breath

"King Theoron, the gates!" The first one sputtered.

"They’re stuck!" Panting the second one said.

"What are you two talking about? Spit it out boys!" Yelled one of the members of Theoron’s rogue council.

"The Weygate, your majesty, it’s blocked and our men, they’re stuck on the other side!" They both said nearly at the same time.

"They’re WHAT?" Theoron howled, the window of his pack house shook from its volume.

"Our men are stuck on the other side of the gate, your majesty, we can’t reach them, we can’t get to them." Their panic was infectious and spread throughout the room. The people present looked from face to face unsure of how to respond.

"Where’s Ezelreth?"

"Last I saw in their bedroom." The men were unsure of how to reference Ezelreth, considering he was a man in a woman’s body.

The guards nodded and obeyed rushing to the room were Ezelreth was staying.

Inside the room Ezelreth was reading. He was updating himself on the world he was in, the changes the world has undergone since his time dwelling on the surface.

A knock on the door interrupted him and he growled in response.

Answering the door his first words were "Make it quick, or I’ll break your hands for disturbing my peace.

"The weygates, your excellence, they’ve been blocked, the king requests your presence."

"Impossible." Ezelreth stormed through the pack house with a purpose.

"What the fuck are they talking about? Explain, Theoron." Ezelreth demanded an explanation.

"My men are stuck. The weyline is unbreakable, we can’t get out and we can’t get them in."

"Fuck!" Ezelreth howled, storming out of the main hall.

"Where are you going?" King Theoron yelled to Ezelreth’s shrinking back.

"I’m going to see what the fuck is going on." He growled just loud enough for everyone to hear.

Violet’s small feet still somehow managed to crack the ground under each step. The walls shook and the windows vibrated.

Reaching one of the weygates, he tried to open it. But nothing happened.

No movement in the gate, no smoke, no response. Like the gate had never existed. Like he was powerless.

"This can’t be happening." Ezelreth paced back and forth in front of the gate.

’How?’

Violet creeped in from the back of her mind. Standing mentally before him she crossed her arms and smirked at him.

Ezelreth didn’t miss the condescending, oh too prideful look on Violet’s face.

"What do you know, whore?"

She shook her head and laughed.

This set him off, rushing across the floor of her mind he grabbed her by throat and raised off the ground.

Violet gasped as he closed his fingers around her neck. But she didn’t show any signs of fear. No, she looked at him with an even bigger mocking smile.

"You’re gonna lose." Her voice scratched against the crushing pressure of her throat under his grip.

"Shut up, bitch. Tell me what you know." Ezelreth growled.

Violet choked, struggling with her words, there was no air to run out of, but the pain didn’t lesson because of that.

She could feel bruising, even if nothing manifested.

"She found a way." Violet voice cracked as she choked.

"She found a way to mess with your plan." She continued.

He tossed her aside. Violet grabbed her throat massaging it. Her smile never leaving her face, even as she coughed and cleared her throat.

"This is only the beginning for you, Ezelreth. She will come for you, and she will make you pay."

Violet pushed herself off the floor of her mind and faced him.

"My daughter, Ezelreth, is unlike anyone you’ve ever met. She ruthless, courageous, strong and powerful. Her first life she wasn’t trained from birth to defeat a demon. In her first life, she wasn’t born with the power of vampires and the power of a goddess. She was mortal with a goddess given gift."

And then Violet snapped, she cackled loudly "The best part is, you don’t even know how fucked you are. When Odette gets her hands on you, she will end you once and for all. She will crush your soul and burn it for eternity, sending you to oblivion!"

Her laughter shook something inside Ezelreth, for a moment. Just a moment. Fear flickered across his face.

And Violet, she didn’t miss it. She took that fear and ran with it. Ran deeper than he expected from her.

"She is nothing like the first MoonChild. She’s stronger than you could ever be. Stronger than the body you’re currently occupying. You won’t survive this Ezelreth."

She was done yet.

"And when that time finally comes, I’ll do everything in my power to help her take you down."

"Even if it kills me."
