I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha-Chapter 190: Fix This
~Ambrose~
It had been less than a week since the council meeting. Artemasia, Odette, and the witches were working a spell that would seal the weygates from entry or exit. King Asher and I decided to team up and train our species side by side. We had two sessions a day, I started a dawn, he started at dusk. We decided once a week, we’d merge the classes and do a late night training session. I would train the vampires, and he would train the wolves.
It’s been increasingly difficult, though. Shifters and vampires were enemies for far too long, this training together idea wasn’t going well, but I didn’t have much of a choice. King Asher and I would have to get them to work together. We will all die if you don’t work together to stop Ezelreth’s army.
At first the fighting among our warriors was horrific, injured vampires and shifters were sent to healers by the dozen. Wounds inflected by the two different species would typically take longer to heal than of regular weapons.
This couldn’t go on much longer.
King Asher was losing his patience and so was I. We needed a solution and fast. We didn’t have the time to waste anymore on petty vengeance and personal disputes.
This was about our people. My packs, his clans
There was a lot of unspoken animosity between the us. But we both had one person we shared love for. One person we would both die to protect.
Odette.
We had a shared goal, defeat Ezelreth, save our people and bring back Queen Violet, Odette’s mother.
It was late at night after an intense failure of a training day. I decided it was time King Asher and I talked king to king about the alliance and the war. Plus, Odette missed her family and had been talking about fixing her relationship with Delilah.
Figured a meal after our too long of day was over would work.
Odette and I went to the Vampires estate behind my palace, still hidden by magic.
When we arrived outside the hidden estate her cousin Delilah stood at the door waiting with open arms to greet Odette. Onyx growled low in my head.
He still hasn’t forgiven Delilah for betraying Odette.
They hugged, not awkwardly, but not affectionately either. The tension between both girls was still there.
Everyone at seated at the table waiting for us when we arrived.
I noticed the witch Arya and the bastard Kalvin weren’t here.
Good, because I’d probably knock his teeth out for what he did. I still haven’t gotten even with the little prick. "The shit-head’s father took him back." I explained.
"Really? I wonder you if Artemasia and Arya are learning to get along? We’ve all been spending a lot of time together lately." Odette asked.
"Fuck no. Artemasia just complained yesterday about missing her peace and overseeing Arya’s face every day." Ilaughed at the mere idea.
"She could be masking." Odette suggested.
I shrugged. "Either way, they’re working on the seal and they’re making headway."
"I guess."
It felt a lot less forced now, it seemed her uncle Oliver had started opening up to me more, Rosa and Delilah already liked me enough. Lilith hated me, I don’t think that will ever changes. I heard she even hates her own children. Jeremy was holding in all his impulses. I could see his annoyance and dislike of me written all over his face. However, thankfully, he simply ignored my presence for the entire meal. King Asher had accepted me, but only because of Odette. He respected me protective attitude toward her. How I put her above everything, even my pack.
I heard Delilah was in charge of the dinner menu planning, when the first course came around, Odette smiled.
"I know, gnocchi soup made with carrots and clams is your favorite soup." Delilah answered the question Odette’s face was asking.
The second course came and when Odette saw the tray’s contents her eyes lit up with excitement.
"Where did you find starfruit all the way out here?" Odette squealed, clapping her hands in celebration. She was so cute when she got excited for little things.
"I had some help with a portal..." Delilah looked away.
"Keep your secrets then." Odette winked. The two girls laughed a real laugh.
The next three courses were exactly like I expected them to be. All of her favorite dishes. The dessert being the best of all. Simple. Lava cake with strawberry and vanilla bean ice cream.
Odette melted at the table.
I found the main course to be my favorite, venison with macaroni and cheese accompanied by grilled asparagus. It was an odd combination; I was surprised by how well the meat and cheese went together.
When dinner was done I was the first to stand and looked over to King Asher.
"King Asher, I’d like to request a private audience with you. If I may."
"I will not deny the alpha king a meeting in his own territory." King Asher stood up and excused himself.
The formality in my request told him this was official business.
"Excuse me." King Ashe stood and went to the office room and sat on two couches opposite to each other.
"We can’t keep losing warriors to injury over petty squabbles. We need a plan. We need to fix this and get them focused. Threats aren’t working and beating will only take time away from training for healing." I started the conversation off.
"I agree, it’s beginning to annoy me. What is it you suggest, Alpha King?"
"What if we partner people? Force them to mix, but in small numbers. We can take them up the mountain to camp for a few days, use magic to box them in." I suggested. "The mountain is pretty ruthless with a constant unending storm. We can create beasts with the help of some witches. Force cooperation. Make the healers work on the other species when injured, and work right next to each other."
I leaned back on the couch and continued. "Forcing them to rely on each other to survive and to have each species accountable for injury might decrease the want to wound and encourage the need to cooperate."
This was the best solution me and Beta Damon came up with.
"That’s not a terrible idea. We could come up with a plan tonight and put it in action tomorrow. Come the following day we can send them up the mountain in groups of 4. Would a week be too long? I’d like the beasts the witches conjure to be equipped with venom that won’t kill but will greatly wound both vampires and shifters. We need two healers and two fighters. Same species for each category match up."
"Do you think a week is long enough?" I questioned.
"I think it’s all we have to spare. Anything more would be pushing for time we don’t have."
"Fair point."
We stayed in office discussing our plan for way too long and by the time we finished working out the details it was late and I had to wake early for training.
