***Author’s note: Dropped a new character. Go check it out! ***

~Narrator~

Ezelreth was told a summary of the witches by the general’s wife. The Ares Coven would be their safest and most likely bet. They were a coven of greedy witches and wizards. They were known to dabble in old magic, the kind of stuff that should arguably be banned. And is in some covens.

They were a fierce and power coven; they would definitely have the power to break the spell that bastard MoonChild casted.

He couldn’t believe she was capable of doing that. He hated to admit it, but he had underestimated her.

But that would be the last time he did.

The group came across a gas station. They looked hungry and that Ezelreth cared about these soldiers’ feelings or comforts, he couldn’t afford weak shifters.

"Get food and lets go." Ezelreth heard Violet’s stomach growl, signaling her body was hungry. Grabbing a few candy bars and made her way to counter. When the attendant asked about payment.

Ezelreth smiled, Violet’s face twisted horrifically as her hand shot out and Ezelreth gripped the mans face. Draining every ounce of life from him. His body crumbled. His skin was ashen and being pulled too tight against his bones. His eyes became dull, lifeless and hollow. He was now one of the Turned.

Ezelreth felt refreshed.

"You’re disgusting." Violet spat at him from the back of her mind.

"I don’t care. He’s a worthless human. And the world would be better without them. That’s my aim Violet. To wipe out all of mankind and all vampires who betrayed me, their creator and betrayed their god, my father." Ezelreth laughed maniacally.

Violet said nothing else. There was no point. He would do what he was meant to do, and he will die again by the hands of her daughter as predicted by fate.

Ezelreth wasn’t worth the energy, Violet told herself. She would save it for when the time came.

The shifters grabbed the keys from the attendant’s pocket and started up the car. Their hands filled with snacks. This was a rare treat for them; they were going to make the most of this adventure. Ezelreth fetched his monsters from the weygate and commanded his Turned to climb into the trunk.

They drove off from the gas station. Destination, Ares Coven.

When they arrived, the sun was high in the sky and his monsters, tucked away in the trunk hid from the sunlight.

They parked in front of a massively dense forest. The smell of pine freshened the air. The shifters changed into their wolf forms, waiting for orders, their senses on high alert.

Together they walked into the forest, there was no turning back now. The light from the sun had disappeared behind the thick flush canopy made by the trees. The forest was oddly quiet.

Too quiet, it made everyone, but Ezelreth, nervous and on edge. It was unnatural for anywhere to be this devoid of sound.

Every crunch of leaves beneath their feet and crack of twigs breaking echoed loudly among the trees.

Ezelreth just marched forward unphased, but the wolves growled nervously at each sound. They weren’t accustomed to such unsettling auras.

Ezelreth just scoffed and rolled his eyes.

He could sense it suddenly, the magic that charged the air.

There was a forcefield here blocking them from entering.

"We’re here." He muttered to no one in particular.

Suddenly the curtains of the veil rippled and a tall figure in a hooded robe approached them.

"Dark magic I smell." The old woman’s voice croaked.

"You smell ancient magic, though it’s easy to confuse the two." Ezelreth stepped forward, Violet’s voiced echo with a hint of madness underneath.

"Darkness is all you see and the air you breathe, it is dark magic you bring here do not play games with me DarkChild." The woman spoke with the kind of confidence only power could back.

"Fair enough, Crone. May you grant us entry, or will you face my wrath?" Ezelreth spoke such a terrifying threat with the soft sound of Violet’s voice.

The old woman cleared her throat and said "There is no reason for such threats. You may enter, DarkChild."

They started to follow her through the gate, but she stopped us, "They do not enter here." She pointed to the mindless monstrosities dragging their feet behind Ezelreth.

He walked over to his creatures and commanded they stay in that spot.

Bound by obedience they didn’t move. Despite the gnawing hunger in their hollowed stomachs, they were incapable of defiance.

"Fine, let go." Ezelreth frown, displeased with the request. He rolled Violet’s eyes wanting to get this over with.

Once inside the forcefield they were greeted by a dark village, there was no sunlight below the canopy and homes made stone and blackened wood, something straight out of a horror film. With haunting floating lights illuminating the path. The trees creaked as loud as old doors. Animal carcasses and dried herbs hung from the different houses. The place was crawling with darkness.

’This is definitely the place I’ll find witches willing to strike a deal.’ Ezelreth thought to himself.

They walked to a large, blackened tree with a wide cavern opening, beckoning them to enter at their own risk. The wolves shifted uncomfortably in their animal form. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Passing through the trees open mouth the smell of old musty earth filled the air. In the center of the room was a pit that stretched downward, seats like steps outlined the circle, growing wider with each rising level. At the bottom sat two women facing each other. Their dark hoods casting a shadow that masked their face.

A fire erupted between the two hooded figures at the base of the room, it whipped violently as it rose, it looked ready to engulf the ceiling. Hushed rhythmic chanting echoed.

Shadows danced across the walls as if telling a story. One Ezelreth knew all too well.

"You come at last, DarkChild. We’ve been waiting for you."
