Lillian tilted her head like a curious rabbit. Her ears twitched and her eyes glowed playfully, "Are we really just friends, though~...?"

Marionette raised an eyebrow, then planted the side of her fist into her palm, "Ah. Are we officially dating yet?" She asked in stoic excitement.

"Get a kiss from me first, and then we'll talk about that." Lillian giggled, seeing Marionette deflate into disappointment.

They soon left the classroom and wandered down the corridor.

"So, what did the Student Council Head speak to you about?" Marionette asked.

"Eh... Just catching up, you know." Lillian shrugged, "She was quite surprised I got into this academy."

Marionette blinked at her, confused, "Were you not meant to?"

"I think my parents were planning on sending me somewhere else." Lillian stated, then froze, "Ah... I haven't contacted them in a while..."

"You might want to at some point in this year. They might get worried." Marionette smiled, teasingly, "I'm sure they know how troublesome you are to deal with."

"Oi. You don't seem to have any trouble dealing with me."

Marionette side-eyed her blankly and responded with:

"... Who knows..."

Lillian laid on her couch, the grimoire she found in the Trial in hand. She had just finished all her classes today, and Marionette seemed to be nice enough to allow her to have a day off from training.

She said something about changing up their schedule.

Lillian shivered a bit, sensing a bad premonition of what it may turn into.

She shook her head, ridding herself of the thought, and turned her attention back to the grimoire. She felt like she was making progress, but lately, she has been feeling that it would be much better for her to just cheat and get a translator.

The girl sighed. She had already got this far into studying this mysterious tome, she might as well keep on going. And she was almost done with the entire thing as well.

From what she has studied so far, this tome just highlighted the process of growth with the Violet Parasitic Tree. Just as much as it was interesting to read, it was as useful as well.

It documented the traits that the tree had. Perhaps in the near future, she could refer back to this tome for inspiration for her abilities.

She flipped through the pages. Not only did it act like some experiment's test log, but it also acted as a Diary.

She flipped to a page and began to read it.

- "Day 13... The tree has yet to even reach a********d despite what has been fed to it. I just have to be patient. It will prove useful in the upcoming battle, without a doubt."

- "Day 16... The tree had grown a m***e taller since the last time I saw it. It also seemed to have latched itself onto what used to be a Carapace Hunter. By taking over its body, it seemed to have gained the ability to digest f***h through the monster's organs and jaws. This is good."

- "Day 20... The tree's insides had become more flesh-like or just filled with blood, perhaps from the monster it was latched to. The others and I have grown fond of the tree. Enough to give it a name... We just have to think of one first."

- "Day 23... We have decided to name the tree; Morbasker. The reasoning being how it wants to bask in the sunlight, more... I say we, but it was really my idea. The others didn't have any better ones. Hopefully, we can bring it up to the surface soon."

- "Day 24... Morbasker accidentally ate one of our items. The tip of its roots had started to secrete a dangerous poison even for us. Its body had even taken on a darker shade of brown. I'm not sure how, but it must've formed another core."

- "Day 25... With each day that passed, the "dirt" hill that Morbasker grew on grew taller and taller. Knowing that these used to belong to the residence of the Catacomb is... Mortifying to say the least. Luckily, their minds were already long gone, credits to the True Da****ss."

Lillian continued to read through the tome, which could only be described as more of a diary. She looked over some words, noting the ones she didn't know. Although... She might be able to guess what they were.

Just as she was about to turn to the next page, her ears twitched at her name being called.

"It's done, Lillian."

She popped her face out from the pages, looking up. The voice belonged to Marionette, and it seemed to have come from the kitchen. She grimaced.

'Ah, that's right... Marionette is the one cooking this time.'

She remembered the Assassin mentioning that about practising cooking.

Lillian placed the tome to the side and got up. She reached the kitchen, sticking her head through the doorway. Her eyes then met an apron-wearing Marionette, who was washing her hands.

She was still in her uniform, minus her blazer, which she hung to the side.

The Rabbit couldn't help but be drawn to the stoic "chef". She looked really good in an apron.

"You can go sit at the table, Lillian."

Lillian broke out of her daze, finding Marionette staring at her with a warm gaze as she dried off her hands, took off her apron and hung it.

"Has anyone said you looked really good in an apron?"

"..."

Marionette tilted her head at her, tapping her chin, "I believe not. I'm not known for cooking much, believe me or not." She then paused, staring at Lillian intently.

"Are you saying I look good in an apron?"

"Heh. Absolutely." Lillian then grinned, winking at her, "Sexy, even~..."

Marionette widened her eyes, surprised at the Rabbit's flirt, before narrowing them briefly. She thought about a response, and when she eventually thought of one...

Lillian watched as Marionette narrowed the gap between them, wrapping an arm around her waist and bringing her in.

"Sexy, hm?" She repeated, blinking teasingly at the white-haired girl, who stared back with a playful look.

"Always~..." Lillian giggled.

"But not enough for a kiss?" Marionette raised her free hand and placed her index finger on Lillian's lips.

The Rabbit pursed her lips, blinking bashfully at her. Her hand was soon moved away with the help of Lillian's hand.

"Don't be so upset, Mari~... You might get it, soon." Lillian giggled, cheekily, patting the top of the Assassin's head, who just rolled her eyes at her, softly.

Marionette brushed the hand off her head and moved away from the girl. She moved towards two plates and clutched their white porcelain rim.

She glanced back to Lillian and stated:

"I'll bring it over to the dining table."

After making their way over to the table, Lillian stared down at the meal before her. It was a nicely plated steak with a delicate brown sauce dripping over it, with a side of greens.

She stared at it curiously. Did she even have steak in the fridge? Or did Marionette use her own ingredients? She didn't really bother asking.

She sliced into the steak, which was cooked to a medium-rare quite well. Better than what she could do. She even felt some high hopes about it. But after taking a bite of it along with the sauce, it... Didn't taste, right...

The steak was cooked brilliantly. Nothing wrong with it. The sauce was the only issue. It just... Tasted strange. It wasn't inedible, though, fortunately.

Marionette watched as Lillian ate, only asking after she had a few bites:

"How is it? Is it satisfactory?"

"The steak is cooked great!"

Marionette nodded, but then scrutinised the girl's face, feeling as though she were holding something in.

"Were there any issues?"

Lillian's lips stretched into a thin line, she then said with a wry smile:

"The sauce... Tastes weird."

"Oh. I see." Marionette took a bite of her own meal and nodded, "It does. Not quite what I was imagining. That's upsetting..."

"D-don't worry!"

Marionette glanced up, watching as Lillian took another bite. She felt warm about the fact the Rabbit was willing to eat her cooking, despite its... Strange tastes.

As Lillian continued to slice the steak and pop it into her mouth, Marionette was just staring at her — with her elbow resting on the table and the side of her face in her palm.

Lillian noticed her stare and tilted her head cutely at it.

"What's up? Aren't you... Going to eat."

Marionette nodded, smiling at her, "I will. I just like the show currently on."

"Show...?" Lillian raised an eyebrow before smirking, "I'm a show, huh? Am I your favourite as well?"

Marionette responded in a teasing tone, "Who knows~..."

Once they finished eating, they watched the news together on the couch. Well, it was only Marionette watching. Lillian was too invested in the diary she had been reading beforehand.

As they watched, however, the Assassin played with the hair of the Rabbit, whose head was on her lap. Lillian didn't mind what she was doing, considering it was normal at this point.

Instead, what she did mind was the fact that the page she was looking at was unfinished.

The words were messy, the page had countless splashes of ink. The author was no doubt in a hurry of sorts. From the words that were left on the page, she was able to decipher:

"Day 35... We have fallen ill..."
