"Good, I don't need to worry about my retirement any longer. With this land in your hands, you should be able to fulfill your role."

Silas turned around, his expression softening into a small smile—one of relief.

"Once you graduate from the Academy, I'll officially hand down my position to you, son."

'No, thank you,' Luka thought to himself, barely restraining the grimace that threatened to surface.

He had no interest in this land, nor did he care for the responsibilities that came with it.

After all, his worries lay elsewhere—on the main character and the core storyline of the game, not some extra land that players only visited once or twice for the Dragon Cave.

This place was practically a dead zone, a minor footnote in the grander scheme of things.

And Luka sure as hell wasn't about to waste his life governing a fortified settlement that barely had any relevance to the bigger picture.

Still, he wasn't foolish enough to outright reject his father's words.

Getting on Silas' bad side wasn't exactly on his to-do list.

Instead, Luka plastered a wide, beaming smile onto his face—forced and insincere but convincing enough.

"I can't wait for that day to come, Father. However, you are still young, so you should continue to protect this land for many years to come!"

Silas chuckled, nodding his head in agreement. "Indeed, you're right, my s—"

His words cut off abruptly, his eyes widening as his entire body tensed.

His mouth remained slightly agape as he stared out the window, out into the vast open land beyond the settlement walls.

Luka furrowed his brows, confused for a split second before instinct had him looking as well.

The earth trembled.

Then, without warning, cracks splintered across the ground, jagged and deep.

The very land beneath groaned and split apart, sending up clouds of dust and debris.

And then, in the midst of it all, something began to manifest—

A dungeon.

Then, like a dam breaking, monsters began pouring out.

Monsters of all kinds—some grotesque, others familiar—spilled forth in a relentless tide, their snarls and roars piercing the air as more and more swarmed together, forming a horde.

"Shit, a dungeon outbreak!" Silas roared, his body snapping into action as he rushed to grab his spear.

His once-relaxed demeanor vanished.

The entire settlement burst into movement.

Warriors scrambled to arm themselves, the clanking of armor and the shouts of orders filling the air outside.

A sense of urgency spread like wildfire, but Luka merely clicked his tongue in mild annoyance.

'Well, shit... I didn't know about this.'

Playing through the game, Luka had never bothered to pay attention to minor details like this.

This area had always been irrelevant, just another forgotten corner of the map.

But now, faced with the reality of it, he found himself staring at an opportunity rather than a threat.

An outbreak meant monsters—monsters meant experience points!

And experience points meant leveling up!

Luka's lips curled into a smirk as he took a step forward, already feeling the adrenaline rush through his veins.

Perhaps this place wasn't so useless after all!

Not only did he secure his future overpowered dragon, but he was now about to rack up a significant amount of experience points.

Without missing a beat, as he watched his father leave—flinging the door open in a hurry and rushing down the hall...

Luka followed.

He passed by the worried maids, who were scurrying about in a frenzy, their faces pale with alarm.

But unlike them, he was in no rush.

Instead, he veered toward his room, pushing open the door and heading straight for his desk.

His glasses lay there, right where he had left them.

Luka picked them up, sliding them onto his face with a muttered, "I'm not going to forget these again..."

His gaze flickered toward the bed, where Snow lay, utterly unfazed by the chaos outside.

The little dragon slept soundly, curled up in a relaxed heap, completely ignoring the loud commotion echoing throughout.

Luka allowed himself a small smile as he stepped closer, carefully pulling the covers over Snow, ensuring he was as comfortable as possible.

Once satisfied, he turned on his heel and strode out of the room.

Out of nowhere, a maid was running down the hall, panting, as she carried a bundle of weapons in her arms.

Luka raised a hand, stopping her in her tracks. "Excuse me," he said smoothly.

The maid halted immediately, despite the sweat beading on her brow.

"Yes, young master?" she asked, her voice breathless, her hands tightening around the weapons she carried.

Luka's eyes landed on the bow.

He pointed at it. "Mind if I have that? I intend to assist in defending the fortified settlement."

The maid hesitated for only a second before nodding.

Without a word, she handed over the bow, then gave a quick, respectful bow of her own before dashing off once more.

Luka ran his fingers along the bow's polished wood, feeling its weight in his hands.

"Now then... let's see just how much XP I can farm from this mess."

"Get in position! They're getting closer! Ready the damn hwachas!" Silas bellowed.

He pointed to different positions, barking orders to his men as they scrambled to fortify the defenses.

Meanwhile, Luka hummed a small tune under his breath, trailing behind his father but keeping a comfortable distance.

His eyes landed on a wooden bucket brimming with arrows, and without hesitation, he began stuffing them into a quiver he had snatched earlier.

'Nobody's going to miss these... hopefully,' he mused, loading up on as many arrows as he could carry.

Once satisfied with his haul, Luka scanned the area, searching for a way up the walls.

Weaving through the chaos of warriors running back and forth, he reached a small tower and slipped inside.

Ascending the staircase, he paused halfway, peeking through a narrow slit in the stone.

The horde was closing in.

'Sheesh, this is a small dungeon break... In the game, they were at least ten times bigger than this.' Luka shook his head in disappointment but quickly pushed the thought aside.

'No use dwelling on it. This was still an opportunity.'

Resuming his walk, he emerged onto the wall and was immediately met with a cool sight.

Cannons fired, their thunderous blasts sending monsters flying, limbs torn from bodies as they crashed into the ground.

The Hwachas unleashed a storm of arrows, piercing through the horde in relentless waves.

All the while, mages began to cast various elemental spell skills.

Luka's eyes gleamed.

'Time to get some XP!'
