Immortality Starts From Making Money.-Chapter 359: The Strange Game.
News of the football game spread like wildfire through the lower district, catching the attention of many from surrounding districts.
The Blood River Gang and the Black Spider Gang were working tirelessly to promote the game.
According to Mo Jian, the more people who came to watch the match, the greater their fame would become.
To them, this was a win–win situation.
Their men moved from street to street, from one gambling den to another, using word of mouth to spread the news.
Young masters from weaker clans who usually visited the lower district were also invited.
Now, in most of the lower district streets, everyone was discussing the strange game.
At the top of a restaurant, a group of young masters and young misses from weak clans gathered, lavishing their clan’s small money.
"What do you think of the strange game promoted by the Blood River Gang?" a young master with an average appearance asked.
Seated beside him was a girl with heavy makeup. She snuggled close to the young master as he squeezed her breast.
No one cared about his actions, as they began to talk about the strange game.
"Humph! A mortal game—how could it be interesting?" a young miss responded, taking a sip from her wine. Her appearance was slightly better than that of the other girls in the group.
"I spoke with one of the Black Spider captains, and he urged me to watch the game," another young master added. "He promised the game would be unlike anything we’ve ever watched."
"Hahahaha."
The group burst into laughter. T
hey all believed this was a ruse to lure gullible people to attend their so‑called special game.
"Even though we all know they’re merely lying, I suggest we attend the game. Besides, we have nothing to do anyway," another young master added.
The group nodded.
They were the trash of their clans; their only hobby was to spend their time partying and throwing their little weight around.
"Agreed. This is also a chance to exploit some money from the two gangs," a voice added with a mischievous grin.
"Hahah. Right." They all laughed. They understood the meaning behind his words.
Just as the group of wastrels were discussing, a boy entered the room and rushed toward them.
"What is it?" a young master asked in a low, irritated voice. "Haven’t I warned you never to disturb me when I’m with my friends?"
"Y-Young Master... I came with important news," the boy said quickly and fell to his knee.
Although their clans were the weakest in the city, against commoners they were still like a colossal mountain that others looked up to.
"So, what is this important news?" he asked, turning to look at his attendant.
"Ah—yes," the boy nodded and quickly took out a pamphlet from his spatial pouch.
Curious, the young master received the thin book and began to peruse it. The more he read, the more confused and shocked he became.
"Why did you bring this book?" he asked, his voice taking on a serious tone.
"The two gangs are distributing..." the boy replied quickly.
"What is going on?" one of the young misses asked when she saw the seriousness in his tone.
"Do you have more of this book?" he asked. "If you do, give it to my friends." He commanded.
Quickly, the boy rose to his feet and began to distribute the pamphlets. When the group read the pamphlet, they were stunned.
For a moment, no one spoke as they tried to grasp the meaning of what they were reading.
This was unlike anything they had ever seen.
"T-This..." one of them opened his mouth, but the word stuck in his throat.
"Why does the game seem so complicated?" a girl said, raising her head to look at the others.
A boy nodded. "You’re right. It looks complicated but also different."
"So the two gangs were not bluffing or trying to trick us into spending our money," another said.
No one spoke, but this was their thought.
"I can’t see how this game is being played. I must attend the game," a girl said quickly. Others nodded.
Previously, they had not thought much about the strange football game, but now, with the various complicated tactics, rules, and gameplay they had seen in the pamphlet, they were genuinely curious.
Meanwhile, on the street, talk about the strange football game increased with every passing moment.
Many who had been skeptical about the game were now genuinely curious. A game that required twenty-two players to play at once was not something they had ever seen.
Besides, it had many rules and tactics that were unfamiliar.
The most common games were Go or battle arenas, apart from gambling games.
But now...
Inside a restaurant, Mo Jian stared at the two gang leaders without any expression on his face.
"Have you distributed it?" he asked.
"Yes, Young Master," the Black Spider Gang leader responded quickly.
Previously, he had doubted the game, but now he was genuinely won over. Not only him, but the Blood River Gang leader was also won over.
"The effect was immediate. Many who did not believe in the game are curiously asking us about it," the Blood River Gang leader added with a bright smile.
"Good." Mo Jian nodded. "Remember what I tell you: without spending money, you can’t make money. This is a chance to change your life. Everything depends on you." He stared at them.
The two nodded.
"Young Master, we understand," the Black Spider replied.
"Remember, both of you are not friends. You’re rivals. How far you go depends on you." Mo Jian added.
"I’ll provide you with boots and jerseys for this match. After that, you will have to pay as well. Remember to distribute banners and clothes to your people to support your players."
"Also, tell everyone they can bet on the match. The arena has a betting chamber where they can place their money and bet," he said seriously.
"Don’t compare this betting to what you run in your dens. This is different. So make sure to have a lot of people bet. The higher you bet, the greater the return."
"The most important part is that your team earns ten percent of the profit from the betting pool," he added, throwing in the final bait.
"Really?!"
The two gang leaders widened their eyes, their gazes burning with greed.
Apart from the fame they would gain, the inflow of money made their hearts pound heavily.
"Don’t worry; we will make sure almost all of our fans bet," they both said in unison.
Mo Jian nodded but did not speak again. After exchanging quick goodbyes, the two leaders departed.
They could not wait to start their next plan.
Looking at their departing backs, Mo Jian had a faint smile tug at the corner of his lips.
Now, he couldn’t wait for the matchday to arrive.
