Chapter 100: Successfully Escaped from Pursuit

They listened carefully. Joe briefly explained that he was willing to be used as bait to entice the warriors of the Shadow Dragon clan to leave their post. That way, Aiden and the others would have the opportunity to go to Clovis. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

Joe left in his dragonkin form, heading north and into the vast forest. There, Joe would perform one of his important tasks to attract their attention.

Aiden nodded, telling Aurora and Rachel to hide from being seen by the guards. Not long after, a huge explosion happened there with a thunderous sound and a dazzling purple light.

BLAST!

The explosion shocked not only Aiden, but also the soldiers at the border post. As Aiden peeked through the bushes, seven people had gone to check on the situation there, while eight people were still guarding the post.

"AAAKH!"

Shouts rang out from that place, a clear sign that Joe was defeating the guards of the border post.

Some of them ran away, telling their friends that there was a crazy Dragonkin raging in the forest.

"H-Help us! That dragonkin is crazy! He could destroy the border post," said one of the wounded guards, asking for help from those at the border guard post.

Having no choice, they sent five other guards to the spot to help defeat the rampaging dragonkin.

Aiden was a big help with Joe, his strength breaking the concentration of the post guards.

Five people left to help, leaving only three guards at the post. They seemed to be on alert after learning that there was an unexpected attack close to the border guard post.

They thought that the Dragonkin must have something to do with princess Rachel’s disappearance.

"Are we going to attack now?" Aurora asked.

Aiden cleared his throat. He reached back and activated his fire spear magic. With that power, Aiden was confident he could defeat them easily.

Aurora and Rachel saw this and smiled widely, happy that they would start fighting again.

The man lunged forward and unleashed a red scythe attack targeting them. They were stunned, never expecting such an attack before.

They reached out and resisted the force with their skills. However, that was only the beginning. An icy blue light flashed brightly behind them, Aurora completely transformed into an ice dragon that spewed cold forward.

Rachel also came out and took out her darkness whip. The battle in front of the Horald Kingdom’s border guard post was getting wilder and more complex, they were faced with two attacks they never expected.

In the north, they were busy fighting the crazy dragonkin, while in front of the post, they were fighting Aiden who kidnapped Rachel. Now, they’re really backed into a corner.

Aurora blasted them with her dragon tail. Luckily, they can’t do the dragon transformation because they aren’t the original descendants of the shadow dragon nobility. Even so, their magic and strength were much better than human mages.

Two guards were bounced away and injured by the force of Aurora’s dragon tail. Now, only one last guard remained guarding the border post.

Aiden swung his spear sideways, sending the golden red scythe forward with full force.

It worked! His attack had defeated the guard and knocked him backwards into a faint.

Realizing no one was guarding the border area, Aiden and Rachel climbed onto Aurora’s back. Just before leaving, Joe ran over with an injured body, chased by many guards who were about to arrest him.

"Aiden! Wait for me," Joe replied.

Aiden turned his head. He realized that this plan could entirely succeed because of Joe’s sacrifice. He used his power as a dragonkin to attract the attention of the guards and defeat them.

"Rachel! Transform," Aiden commanded.

Rachel cleared her throat. She dismounted and began to focus on transforming into a shadow dragon which shocked many people, including Joe and the rest of the border post guards.

"That dragon... is she Princess Rachel?" some of the guards asked.

"Two beasts that have been tamed. You’re absolutely right, Aiden. We both have to fight!" said Joe.

Joe climbed onto Rachel’s back and held on tightly to Rachel’s shadow dragon scales. After confirming them, Aiden told Aurora to leave immediately.

Aurora and Rachel flew off strongly, accompanied by a strong gust of wind that was able to push the post guards away.

They looked shocked; there was nothing they could do to chase after them.

"Inform the commander of the border post. Princess Rachel is going to Clovis!"

Rachel and Aurora continued to fly through the forest until they were in the Clovis kingdom. Aiden could breathe a sigh of relief, at least they were temporarily safe from the pursuit of the Shadow Dragon Clan’s palace warriors.

"Where are we going?" Joe asked.

"We have to rest for a while in Alcron before we go on our mission," Aiden replied.

Joe was silent. This was the first time for him to leave the kingdom of Horald and arrive in Clovis.

According to the rumors he knew, Clovis was a human kingdom where beasts were always discriminated against by humans.

Aiden smiled. At least he could get there and be ready for his mission again. He also couldn’t wait to put on the gloves ordered for him, the ones with the Infernus Heart gem inside.

Up ahead, there were at least two villages that paralleled the road route from the Wasteland.

Aiden realized that Aurora and Rachel were probably exhausted. He told them to transform again in the forest and turn into humans again.

Two lights shone brightly, an icy blue light and a dark black light. Aiden smiled. He saw that Rachel’s progress was impressive. Her body didn’t feel tired even though she had been flying in dragon mode for three hours.

"Where are we? Is this Alron City?" Joe asked.

Aiden shook his head. He said that this was a village close to the Wasteland, quite far from Alron City. According to the calculations, they would get there with a day’s ride on a horse-drawn carriage.

He stepped with them into the village. As usual, they were welcomed kindly by the villagers, not even a few of them asked about the origin of their destination.

"We’re from the Wasteland," Aiden replied.

"Ohh, are you adventurers who managed to survive?" a villager asked, and Aiden nodded.

"Woah! Congratulations, Sir, that’s a big accomplishment."

"Thank you."

"Is there anything I can help you with?" the villager man asked.

"Yes, we’re planning to return to Alron City. Do you know when the next horse-drawn carriage will arrive?" Aiden asked.

The man paused for a moment, then said that the next horse-drawn carriage would come at six in the evening.

Right now, it was ten o’clock in the afternoon, which meant that Aiden and the others would have to wait a little longer in the village, either resting or relaxing inside the tavern.

"Alright, thanks for your information," Aiden replied.

"Sure. No problem!"
