Chapter 99: Border of Horald Kingdom

Aiden sighed and rolled his eyes to the side. He went back inside and ignored Joe completely. In his opinion, accepting Joe’s challenge for a rematch was nonsense.

The man went back to sleep and ignored Joe completely. Joe, shocked, called back to Aiden from outside the stone dome house. Aiden tried to sleep fully and wasn’t bothered by it.

He thought Joe would give up when Aiden no longer responded to him. But Aiden was wrong. He continued to call out to him loudly until the morning of the next day.

The night was hard for Aiden. He stayed awake because Joe still wanted a rematch. When others woke up refreshed, Aiden crawled out with crimson eyes covered in dark circles.

"Aiden? You look terrible," the other resident explained.

"You tell that to Joe."

Joe was still there, leaning against the stone domed house, losing his dragonkin transformation and sitting back as he stretched his legs forward.

By now, Aiden was fully outside the stone dome house, soaking up the fresh morning sunlight that warmed him up after a long cold and noisy night.

Seeing Aiden awake made Joe rise. He stood up straight and pointed his purple spear at Aiden, right before Aiden’s face.

"Aiden! Let’s fight," Joe explained. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Gosh!"

Aiden pushed the purple spear aside and strode alone toward the village tavern, occasionally yawning from lack of proper sleep.

Aurora and Rachel appeared in the ball of energy coming out of Aiden’s body. The figures of the two girls woke up refreshed, undisturbed by anything during their time in Aiden’s soul consciousness.

That place, although uncomfortable due to sleeping on the hard flat floor, was much better than sleeping under the cold and suffocating stone dome house.

"Where are we going, Aiden?" asked Aurora, stretching her body by raising both hands.

"We’ll have breakfast, then we’ll go," Aiden explained.

"Alright. I’ll order my favorite food," Aurora replied.

Seeing Aiden walk away ignoring him again made Joe even more annoyed. He reappeared the dragonkin form on his body, emitting a purple dark magic aura throughout the village until it managed to spark Aiden’s attention again.

Before entering the tavern, Aiden’s attention was diverted to the side, seeing Joe who was completely furious at being ignored by Aiden.

"Are you deaf, Aiden?! I challenge you to a fight with me! Your victory yesterday was cheating!" Joe snapped.

"I’m tired. I couldn’t sleep because you kept calling me all night. Can we end all this nonsense?!" said Aiden, his face serious.

"End it? I won’t stop chasing you until you’re willing to fight me!"

’His strength is stronger than mine. If I’m going to win the fight with magic, it’s going to take a lot out of me,’ Aiden replied.

’It’s best not to be provoked by him. I don’t know what it means to keep asking me to fight,’ Aiden explained.

Again, Aiden chose to ignore him again and went to eat at the tavern. Even so, Joe continued to follow him until he attracted the attention of the people there. They began to refer to Joe as vengeful.

Aurora ate her favorite chicken dish, while Aiden only ordered the usual menu. Just like before, there wasn’t any flavor in Aiden’s mouth, it was bland and bad.

Unlike Aurora, he seemed to be eating the chicken dish with gusto, even increasing it to three courses.

Rachel told Aiden that she wanted to eat too. Aiden still had the beast essence he got from the battle yesterday, enough to fill Rachel up.

Finished with their matters at the tavern, Aiden and the others stepped into the stone field. He had Rachel sit cross-legged while Aiden flew the 10 A-level beast essences he had for her. Slowly, the dark-haired girl began to absorb some of the beast essences.

"How did it go? Do you want to fight me?" asked Joe, coming close to Aiden.

’He won’t stop until he’s defeated and seriously injured. This sucks!’ complained Aiden.

The man was still controlling the energy of the A-level beast essence to be absorbed easily by Rachel.

One by one, the beast essence shattered and split in two, leaving three A-level beast essences unabsorbed.

Rachel opened her eyes and said clearly that she was done. Aiden cleared his throat, putting the beast essence back into his magic pouch.

"Let’s fight!" said Joe, pointing his spear forward.

’There’s something wrong with this guy!’ Aiden complained.

Although Joe continued to challenge him, Aiden didn’t have much time. He had to leave the village immediately and continue the journey to the Horald Kingdom’s border. Today, they should have crossed the border and arrived in Clovis.

After saying goodbye to the dwarf man who was the village chief, Aiden and his two girls walked away from Lunon Village. Joe squinted, confused about Aiden leaving and not responding to him.

"You can go back to that stone house again, Joe," said the dwarf man, Joe shaking his head.

"I don’t need your cramped house. All I need is Aiden," Joe explained.

Desperate, Joe left the village and followed Aiden. After walking some distance from Lunon Village, he realized that Joe had followed him and challenged him to a fight, again.

"What happened to him? Is he brainless?!" complained Aurora, getting annoyed.

"Ignore him. We’d better focus on the kingdom’s borders."

Aurora and Rachel cleared their throats in reply, continuing to walk beside Aiden. The three followed the dirt road in the middle of the forest, through the vast green fields, across the river, until they reached the western border gate.

Aiden crouched down, hiding behind a bush. His guess was right, the Shadow Dragon Clan’s troops were standing guard at the kingdom’s border, almost fifteen in number.

"I expected that. They’ll realize you’re gone," Aiden replied to Rachel.

"Then what should we do?" asked Aurora, confused.

"Aiden! Let’s go—"

Aiden stood up and moved quickly to gag Joe, making him fall down and stop talking. Aiden told him not to say much if he wanted him to respond to his challenge.

Joe responded by nodding. Aiden began to remove his mouth and let him free. The man looked forward, seeing the border gate filled with people from the Shadow Dragon Clan’s palace.

"Are you going to cross the border?" asked Joe, softly.

"Yes. Do you have a plan for that?" asked Aiden.

"Of course. I know how to distract them."

Aiden turned to Aurora and Rachel. Both girls were silent as they didn’t fully believe Joe’s words. However, due to the urgency of the situation, they had to agree and let Joe speak.

"All right. We hear you!"
