Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 128: Allana Apology
The trip continues from Lunor City to arrive in Dourstad. The charioteers took the right-hand route at the first intersection, as before.
Since they set out at night, there were not many horse-drawn carriages crossing the road, not even a single one. It was quiet and cold, with only the sound of the wind blowing across the vast treeless plain.
"Are we going to be okay here?" asked one of the summoners, a woman.
Aiden cleared his throat. Aiden stood guard on the right side of the carriage, while Rachel was on the left. They kept an eye on the surrounding area through the small window on the carriage.
"We’ll be fine," Aiden replied.
Aiden’s words were enough to calm them down. Sure enough, nothing bad happened to them during their journey.
From the front, the charioteer spoke through the small window that connected the carriage to the charioteer’s area.
"Sir, Dourstad City is ahead," the charioteer said, Aiden clearing his throat.
The first carriage entered through the city gates, without any inspection. The guards let them in on Allana’s orders. Allana told them that there were two carriages with passengers who were none other than their friends.
The two summoner girls stepped aside, taking in the beauty of the city up close. However, the priest girl was still sitting silently, not watching. It was enough to confuse Aiden with her attitude.
The two carriages stopped in front of a stately mansion that was undergoing repairs. Aiden chuckled, that day’s battle had cost the Hurd Family money to repair their residence. Aiden didn’t feel guilty at all.
"Hello, all of you! How was your trip here?" asked Allana, stepping out of her house in a casual suit, shorts and a long-sleeved black T-shirt.
Neil smiled and greeted Allana, clearly seeing the woman walking towards the two horse-drawn carriages parked in front of the Hurd Family residence.
"How was it? Did you manage to get an escort team?" asked Allana, Neil nodded.
"I did. You can meet them."
Aurora, Amber, and Joe stepped out of the first carriage. How shocked Allana was with rounded eyes to see a face that was familiar to her.
"You? Wait, aren’t you—"
"Looks like we meet again, Allana," Aiden replied, opening the door.
Aurora, Amber, and Rachel gasped. The expressions on their faces were fierce and sharp, staring at Allana. All three drew their swords and lunged forward, about to kill Allana for the incident the other day.
Aiden moved quickly in a flash of flames, standing right in front of the three while spreading his spear sideways, blocking the swings of the three dragon girls’ magic swords.
A clash of iron and magic took place in that place, the energy boom was so strong accompanied by a huge gust of wind that Neil and the other members had to shield themselves.
The magic fluctuations stopped, Aurora, Amber, and Rachel stopped attacking. They seriously questioned Aiden’s reason for protecting Allana, even though she had stabbed and poisoned him.
"What? Stabbed and poisoned Aiden?!" gasped Neil and the others.
Allana really hadn’t expected that she would form a group with Aiden, especially since the incident the other day where Aiden almost killed Allana.
The woman didn’t know what to do. She knew Aiden’s identity, but she suspected that Neil knew nothing about Aiden.
’I’d better not reveal his identity. He could easily kill me and my friends,’ Allana explained.
Aiden looked at Allana, staring at her intently as if intimidating her. In the end, Allana looked down and turned her face away, reluctant to meet Aiden’s gaze.
"What did she say exactly?" asked Neil, curious.
"It was—"
"Just a small misunderstanding, you guys don’t need to bring this up again. She and I have resolved it."
Neil paused, then nodded while expressing his pleasure that Aiden and Allana had resolved their issues. This way, there wouldn’t be any problems during the journey.
Aiden looked sharply at Aurora, Amber, and Rachel. He told the three dragon girls to calm down and not complicate matters. Aurora again said that Aiden had to avenge him, and Aiden nodded.
"I’ll find a way to make her pay for what she’s done. However, today we are their escort team. Attacking them will cause our mission to fail," Aiden replied.
Aurora and the others were silent to each other, then breathed a long sigh of relief while sheathing their swords again. The tension was resolved, and Aiden didn’t have to worry about the incident.
Aiden turned his head toward the Hurd family residence. He smiled as Allana continued to watch him, as if Aiden was laughing at something.
"What’s wrong?" Allana asked.
"It looks like what I’ve done has cost you quite a bit," Aiden said.
Allana looked back, clearly seeing her house in obvious repair. The woman responded with a shake of her head, puzzled.
"From this, we can understand that we should not judge anyone, not even you," Allana replied.
The woman ordered the servants to go take them to the selected house. As Neil had planned, they would leave after spending one night in Dourstad.
Neil and the others followed the servants. Aiden was included. But Allana asked Aiden to stay with her for a while. There was something she wanted to talk to Aiden about.
Aiden was silent, and so was Aurora. Aiden told Allana clearly that he would stay with her if Allana allowed Aurora to join the talk.
Allana turned to look at Aurora, she knew who Aurora was and she didn’t mind letting Aurora come along at all. Aiden nodded.
"I wanted to apologize for hurting you earlier. When I see you, the humiliation that happened two years ago comes back to my head," Allana replied.
"However, you seem to have improved a lot, even surpassing me to be comparable to my mother. When you threatened me with death, I was very afraid at the time, as well as giving in."
"But you did something else. You threw me back to my mother and spared my life. That shocked me, my mother was the same way."
"She’s a woman who hates being pitied. Yet, for that incident, she felt grateful to be pitied by you," Allana explained.
"You reminded my mother of Lord Henry. She said that your demeanor and abilities felt like those of a young Henry," said Allana.
"So, what were you trying to say exactly?" asked Aiden, having had enough of their nonsense.
"Just an apology."
"I promise, I won’t do the same to you again."
