Chapter 45: Rune Magic Mark

***

Four months later.

Aiden’s eyes were closed amidst the snow falling on his area. He was trying to learn the ultimate magic spell from the level 3 fire magic spellbook, Crimson Fire.

Aurora and Sylas watched him from the top of the mountain hill, paying close attention to Aiden’s abilities.

"Are you sure he can use the ultimate magic?" Aurora asked.

"I’m sure he can. He’s learned all the magic spells in the level 2 fire magic tome, so he should be able to do this," Sylas explained.

Not long after, Aiden’s eyes opened wide and he rose from his seat on the rock.

From his right hand, Sylas and Aurora saw red magic runes covering it and ready to distribute the magic energy in Aiden’s body into crimson magic manifestations.

[Magic Element: Crimson Fire!]

Aiden swung his hand sideways, creating a large crescent-shaped blazing attack towards the front.

Several dead trees were split open and burned, a hill of rock shattered with a huge explosive sound when hit by the fiery crescent.

The quake caused by Aiden’s magic clash was felt all the way to Aurora and Sylas’ place. Aurora clapped her hands and shouted congratulations to Aiden for his hard work, Sylas responded with a nod.

"That’s good. He can definitely use Crimson Fire," Sylas said.

Aurora went down from the top of the hill and arrived near Aiden. She saw Aiden kneeling wearily with his breath caught in his throat, he had used enough level 2 and 3 fire magic spells today to almost completely deplete his MP.

"Congratulations, Aiden. You’ve completed all the magic spells in those three tome," Aurora said.

"Thank you, Aurora," Aiden said, smiling broadly.

"If you think you’re done, you’re wrong, Aiden," Sylas replied.

His figure suddenly appeared in a flash of golden light directly near Aiden. Sylas touched Aiden’s back, feeling his magic power weaken from the excessive use of magic in a day.

’He’s been working hard,’ said Sylas.

"What do you mean?" asked Aiden.

"Never mind. You’re tired today, you should get some rest, Aiden," Sylas explained.

Admittedly, Aiden was quite exhausted from today’s magic practice. The feelings he felt were hunger, headache, and sleepiness. Aurora also saw that Aiden was exhausted.

"Alright," Aiden replied.

Aurora led Aiden into the cave to rest. She would take care of him there while he recovered his body and MP.

Sylas came to the cave and stood near the exhausted Aiden. He explained that he was returning to Byrone to buy some food, so in a day or two, he wouldn’t be coming back.

"Alright. Be careful there, Master Sylas," Aiden stated, Sylas nodded, he knew how to protect himself.

After saying goodbye, Sylas left the place, leaving only Aiden and Aurora. Aurora helped Aiden’s recovery with her ice elemental magic, slowly Aiden felt that his MP and body condition were improving.

Aiden looked to the side, Aurora’s beautiful face was focused on recovering his condition.

He had asked Aurora several times about the existence of the Chronos Fire Dragon beast Essence, but she didn’t know.

It was natural for her to say so, it was because she was directly raised by Aiden that she didn’t get any information about the dragon race.

’Looks like I’ll have to go wandering to find out about that beast essence,’ Aiden replied.

’I won’t be able to complete my mission if I’m stuck in this place forever,’ Aiden said.

Slowly, Aiden’s entire body was fully restored. Aurora smiled and sat down next to Aiden, her delicate hands caressing Aiden’s face as he lay still on the stone table.

"How is it? Are you feeling better?" Aurora asked, and Aiden cleared his throat in reply.

He tried to get up on the stone table, Aurora helping Aiden. Her attitude was caring and attentive in Aiden’s face, but drastically different when she was talking to strangers.

"I’m glad to see your magical progress, it’s something to be proud of," Aurora replied, holding the back of Aiden’s hand.

"With your current abilities, it seems that you don’t have to fear anything anymore," she added, her face getting closer to Aiden’s, causing him to gasp.

A blush spread across Aiden’s face at Aurora’s gesture. Aurora smiled bitterly, then chuckled in response to Aiden’s awkward response.

Not wanting to make Aiden uncomfortable, Aurora sat back down while releasing her grip from Aiden.

"But you still have a long way to go, you have many things to learn," Aurora said.

"You’re right. I can’t stop here. I need to improve further," Aiden emphasized, drawing Aurora’s attention to him even more.

"What do you mean?" asked Aurora.

"Stop this eternal snow magic, we’re traveling," Aiden told her.

Aurora smiled widely, filled with joy. She had been waiting for Aiden to say that for a long time, because if Aurora had asked, she was afraid that her suggestion would go against Aiden’s will.

Now, Aurora knew what Aiden wanted. Traveling and seeking new magical knowledge on his own would make Aiden stronger than training with a master.

It was also a long time since she wanted to get away from Master Sylas. In Aurora’s opinion, there was something wrong with the old man despite his earnest training of Aiden.

Even so, Aurora noticed a golden pattern on Aiden’s forehead. A few weeks ago, Sylas had attached the magic mark as a form of protection to Aiden’s body in case of injury and so on.

However, from the magic mark, Master Sylas could also track Aiden’s whereabouts, making Aiden feel less free. Aurora had to do something with it.

"Please stay still and don’t move, Aiden. I want to do something with you," Aurora commanded, leaving Aiden confused and nodding in response.

Aiden sat cross-legged with Aurora standing before him. From Aurora’s hand, she brought forth a light blue ice elemental magic rune, the magic rune continued to spin and started to channel its magic onto Aiden’s forehead.

A circle of golden magic runes suddenly appeared before Aiden’s forehead. Aiden asked if Aurora was trying to strengthen the magic runes given by Sylas, but Aurora answered differently.

"This magic rune mark makes your whereabouts easy for him to track. I’m trying to remove it," Aurora replied.

"Remove it? But Master Sylas said that the magic rune mark can—"

"Protect you? I can do that too, you don’t have to rely on the old man," Aurora interrupted.

"I removed it because it could track your whereabouts, that’s all."

Aiden fell silent. What Aurora said was entirely true; one way to maintain Aiden’s privacy was to destroy Sylas’ magic rune markings.

From Aurora’s eyes, she saw Sylas’ golden rune markings begin to crack and show signs of destruction.

Within a few seconds, the magic rune was destroyed and left no mark on Aiden’s forehead.

"It’s done," Aurora explained.

Aiden touched his forehead, not feeling any significant difference from the destruction of the magic rune mark. But Master Sylas was different.

When the old man was shopping at the market, his steps halted and his head turned back, gazing north towards the two mountains.

’My magic rune mark was destroyed. What are you doing, Aiden?’
