Chapter 56: S-Level Dungeon

"If you don’t help me, I doubt I’ll be able to defeat the Dragon Undead on my own," declared Noah, still standing before the cave entrance.

It was true, Noah had previously invited Aiden and Aurora to go help him defeat the monster. Yet, Aiden hadn’t expected that Aurora would be so frightened that she’d be reluctant to enter the place.

This situation was a dilemma for Aiden. He could not leave Aurora alone, but he also could not betray Noah’s trust in him.

"Aurora," Aiden called out, and the white-haired girl lifted her head to look straight at him.

"What are you feeling? What’s happening there?" Aiden asked.

"I don’t know. I just see a maroon magic aura from there, as well as a foul odor I do not like," Aurora replied.

"Smell? There’s no smell here," Noah interjected.

"I smell it, you humans won’t understand my condition!" snapped Aurora.

Aiden tried to calm Aurora down; her sensitive and unstable temper could be bad for her, especially if she let slip that she was an Ice Dragon. That would be her nightmare once and for all.

"If you don’t want to come, can I get some of your ice power?" Aiden asked.

"If it can keep me out of this raid dungeon, then I will give you half my abilities," Aurora replied.

Shocking! A thread of magic energy appeared and connected between the two. Aurora sent half of her total power to Aiden, an icy blue light shone brightly as Aurora’s magic energy was well absorbed into him.

He looked at his hands, the blue magic was clear and had successfully synchronized with Aiden’s fire elemental magic.

Aiden raised a small flame in his hand, visible as small icy thorns surrounding the flame.

"Oh, you’re a mage?" asked Noah, confirming.

"I’m a mage," Aiden explained.

"I thought you were a hunter or a knight," Noah chimed in.

"Does that make you doubt it?" asked Aiden.

Noah was silent, he did not respond to anything as he had yet to see what Aiden was capable of.

Still, Noah had seen Aurora’s abilities and if the girl had given her powers to Aiden, then Aiden’s abilities were not his true ones.

"Dysia, you stay here with Aurora," Aiden pointed out, surprising both Dysia and Noah.

"Wait! She’s our healer, how can we go to a dungeon without a healer?" Noah asked.

"So, if there’s no healer, you’re not going, huh?" asked Aiden, stepping past Noah.

Dysia was still silent, confused about who to listen to. Noah looked at Dysia carefully, then decided to let Dysia stay at the cave entrance to keep the frightened Aurora company.

Noah stepped away from the cave entrance to catch up with Aiden. Aiden had already left first down the dungeon stairs.

"What exactly happened?" Dysia asked Aurora.

"I do not know. I feel like those Dragon Undead are forbidding me to enter," Aurora replied.

The girl beside Aurora really did not understand her attitude, whether about her relationship with Aiden or the Dragon Undead in the dungeon.

Still, Noah’s orders were clear to her that she needed to stay in front of the cave accompanying Aurora who was terrified.

Inside the dungeon, Noah was finally able to make his way to Aiden. There were 78 intersections in total that could lead them to dangerous chasms, traps, or monster lairs.

Without Noah, Aiden would only die before making it out of the dungeon.

"Where do we go now?" asked Aiden.

Noah picked up the white slip from his dungeon mapping. At the first intersection, there were two directions leading to different places. From his map, the correct path was left.

"Left," Noah replied.

Aiden nodded. He and Noah stepped onto the left-hand route while maintaining their alertness. They continued through several intersections based on Noah’s map.

"Stop," Noah told him, holding Aiden back.

He stopped walking and looked to the side, at Noah. The man seemed to pick up a rock and point it forward, the active trap system making the roof in front of them collapse.

"A trap," Noah explained, Aiden realizing he was so dependent on Noah.

They continued on their way at every intersection they came across, until they arrived at intersection 51.

"Impossible," Noah complained.

"What?" asked Aiden.

"There should only be two routes, why are they three?" asked Noah.

There were three routes leading to different places: the left, the center, and the right route. Aiden stepped closer to all three routes in turn, trying to confirm with Noah again.

"Are you sure we’re not heading on the wrong path?" Aiden asked, and Noah shook his head.

"I’ve checked several times. We’re on the right path."

"This is weird," Aiden explained.

"Should we just go back?" asked Noah, worried.

Aiden shook his head, it would all be a waste if they returned to the surface with nothing. That left 27 more intersections until they reached the Dragon Undead’s chamber.

Unfortunately for Aiden, he had too much faith in Noah’s mapping to not prepare anything.

If he had made any other preparations, perhaps he would have brought many small birds to release at each intersection.

Now, there were only two of them. The only option was to rely on intuition and luck.

"We’ll choose our route, then fight our bad luck," Aiden revealed.

"Are you crazy? This is an S-level mission, our probability of being killed is very high," Noah explained.

"Forget it! If you really want to go down, then go down. I will come out, especially since there’s no healer here," Noah declared.

He stepped back into the previous intersection. Aiden was silent, continuing to watch the back of Noah’s body as it slowly left this place.

’Coward! He asked me to come, why did he choose to retreat?" Aiden asked, complaining.

Aiden stared ahead, he had to choose one of the three intersections to find the right route to the lower floor.

According to Noah’s explanation, the correct route was to the right. As a result, Aiden chose this route.

The longer he walked, the more he heard the sound of monsters roaring from the end of the dungeon hallway. After he arrived, Aiden saw a large minotaur monster holding a bloody axe.

In the large room, there were not only minotaurs, but also goblins. Among them, there were the bones of humans killed by them.

"I finally met you, you damn monsters!"
