Infinite Dragon Beast: Taming Ice Dragons with SSS Ranked Talent-Chapter 58: Pyramid Inside the Dungeon
Noah was so panicked, he never thought he would get lost in a dungeon that transformed into an illusory maze with different routes.
With a situation like this, the map Noah had was useless.
"How many supplies do you have?" asked Aiden.
The man patted his magic pouch and showed his supply of MP and HP potions, totaling 10 each.
’I don’t need HP potions,’ revealed Aiden.
Aiden took out the HP potion he had and let Noah have it. He thought Noah would need it more than him.
Now, they had to figure out the best route to take. Noah appeared from the route in the middle, they couldn’t go there because there was a possibility the route would make them walk around in circles without direction even more.
Among the three remaining routes, Aiden decided to go to the route on the right. Noah stopped Aiden, wondering if Aiden’s choice was correct.
"Is that really the route?" Noah asked.
Aiden let go of Noah’s hand that was clasping his, his hands wet with cold sweat, a sign he was nervous.
"Better to explore it than not at all. Do you think it would be better if we split up?" Aiden asked, Noah shaking his head.
In a situation like this, where danger lurked unnoticed, the option to split up was a bad idea to die for.
Noah was reluctant to split up with Aiden, after all it was better to fight together for life than each other.
"Of course not. I don’t want to die," Noah explained.
"Then we’ll go this way," declared Aiden.
He stepped out first followed by Noah from behind. They entered the dungeon hallway while keeping a close eye on the surrounding area. Noah only hoped that there wouldn’t be any traps lurking in this hallway.
A few steps into the hallway, Aiden felt a small vibration under his feet. He felt like there was a trap mechanism activating once they were fully there.
Noah saw Aiden stop walking, but he didn’t sense anything wrong.
"What’s wrong?" Noah asked.
Aiden looked back, seeing a wall of sharp spikes speeding up from the start of the hallway towards them. It created a feeling of tension between them.
"Shit!"
"The trap is active," Aiden replied.
Noah looked back, and what Aiden had said was true. A wall of sharp spikes was speeding up like it was about to impale Aiden and Noah on it.
Aiden sprinted away from Noah, Noah did the same. He activated his special ability as an assassin, increasing his speed by 50%.
’He’s fast!’ Aiden complained.
From Aiden’s eyes, Noah had already sprinted away from him. Now and then, he glanced back and saw the sharp spiked wall almost approaching him.
"Aiden, this is the end of the hallway," Noah shouted, waving his arms.
Seeing the end of the passage, Aiden quickened his pace to avoid the spiked wall.
It worked!
Aiden jumped forward so fast that he rolled on the ground. He made it out of the trapped passage and arrived at another intersection with two routes. Noah helped Aiden up.
At first glance, Noah saw Aiden had a small injury from the earlier incident. But his eyes saw that Aiden’s blood had stopped flowing and the wound had closed fast, the regeneration of the wound was remarkable.
"It was really scary, and exhausting," Aiden explained.
"Now, we have to face another route that might be even more dangerous," Noah said.
Noah looked ahead, as did Aiden. There were two different routes, both of which they had to choose from.
To Noah, there was no significant difference between the two routes. However, through Aiden’s magic aura, he sensed the difference.
’A stench like carrion? Then the fragrance of flowers? And a strong, dark magic aura. Is this what scared Aurora?’ Aiden asked, looking at the left route.
"You chose the wrong route earlier. Now—"
"We’ll take the left route," Aiden replied, interrupting Noah’s words.
"What? Why?"
Aiden couldn’t tell him. He wasn’t sure what was behind the left-route; it could be worse than before.
But since the oddities were the same as Aurora’s explanation, Aiden needed to know the inside of the passage on the left.
"Are you sure about that?" asked Noah.
"I’m not sure, but I want to go there."
"We’ll split up if you don’t want to come," revealed Aiden.
"Wait! I don’t want to split up, are you crazy?!" complained Noah.
Not wanting to keep arguing with Noah, Aiden decided to go alone to the place. Noah was confused. He was absolutely sure that the route to the right was the safe one, but he didn’t dare go alone.
"Damn you, Aiden!" Noah complained. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"I’ll kick your ass if we go the wrong way again," Noah threatened.
In the end, Noah decided to go with him. They met up and continued to walk the hallways of the dungeon.
So far, there were no traps active, Noah began to think that the left route might be the safe one.
From up ahead, Aiden and Noah saw a bright crimson-red light. The appearance of the light was something Noah had never seen before, which made Aiden curious as well.
At the end of the hallway, they came to a large place similar to a throne hall. Towering black pillars held up this place, several monster and human bones were scattered on the right and left of the hall.
Aiden stopped walking, Noah did the same. Ahead, there were hundreds of steps leading to the top of the pyramid in the throne hall.
From below, they could not see the details of what was on top of the pyramid.
"Stop it, Aiden. We should leave before it’s too late," Noah replied.
"This place is the reason why Aurora is afraid. I have to know what it is," Aiden insisted.
He released Noah’s grip and started walking up the steps of the pyramid. Noah didn’t dare to do so, not only because he saw hundreds of bones, but also because the atmosphere in the crimson throne hall did not make him comfortable.
"Damn! Is he trying to die?" asked Noah, still watching Aiden continue to walk up.
Only halfway up, Aiden was startled by the appearance of the Dragon Undead guarding this place. Noah shouted, remembering the moment when his friends were killed by the SS-level monster.
"T-That’s a Dragon Undead!" said Noah, his words stammering.
Aiden squinted and looked ahead. The huge dragon before him had no flesh or other organs, only bones controlled by evil magic.
If the Dragon Undead had come to this place to prevent Aiden from arriving at the peak of the pyramid, then Aiden could be sure it was a valuable item in the entire land.
Still, the Dragon Undead would not let Aiden take it. Aiden had no other choice.
"You’re the one guarding this place? No wonder a lot of humans died," Aiden said, immediately responded to the dragon monster’s loud roar.
"But not me, I’m immortal!"
"Come here, I will show you what my true power is."
