Chapter 77: Wait For Fiona

The dragon roar stopped, Aiden turned his head and looked at Rachel. That girl, although belonging to the dragon clan, didn’t know where the dragon roar came from.

The most important thing for them was to collect the beast essence of the black monster that attacked them earlier. Aiden stretched out his hand, collecting dozens of those beast essences using his mind ability.

[DING! Congratulations, you got the item:]

[+47 Level B Beast Essence]

[DING! Congratulations, you got +EXP]

[+940 EXP]

[EXP: 13830/15000] [+940 EXP]

’There’s only a little bit left for me to level up. Well, maybe I can get a lot of EXP when I arrive at the Wasteland,’ Aiden explained.

"Aiden," Rachel called, softly.

Aiden glanced to the side, seeing both her eyes glowing black as if her body was being consumed by her dark elemental energy. This could be serious! Rachel could lose control and kill humans.

Aiden hurriedly handed over the entire beast essence to her. Rachel smiled as she looked at Aiden occasionally.

"Absorb it all," Aiden asked.

Rachel nodded. Using Aiden’s mind ability, he blew away the beast essence and let it all float around Rachel.

The girl closed her eyes, drawing out her black threads of dark energy to touch each one of the beast essences.

Aiden stepped back to let Rachel finish everything. Sure enough! One by one, the beast essence was absorbed into Rachel’s body as its food source.

The old man with the white beard came out of the house. Not only him, but the other men also did the same.

It was the first time for them to see a night in the village without any terror from forest monsters.

"Sir, you managed to kill them," the old man said, Aiden turning to him.

"You’re too complimentary, old man. They were indeed easy monsters to kill," Aiden explained.

"But I must admit, this is the first night in this village without terror from them," the old man said, Aiden smiling, feeling good about it.

They began to focus their eyes on Rachel, who had been endlessly absorbing magic energy and souls from the beast’s essence. They asked occasionally about what Rachel was doing.

"The beast essence contains magic energy useful for mages. She’s absorbing it," Aiden replied.

Saying that was enough for Aiden to convince them, especially since they were just common middle-aged and elderly people. They wouldn’t understand anything about magic energy and mages.

"Is that so? We’ll help protect her while she absorbs the energy," the old man explained, followed by the other middle-aged men in the village. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

About 10 minutes passed, Aiden watched as Rachel’s eyes opened and no longer showed the black light, unlike before.

Aiden smiled, it was a sign Rachel’s dark energy appetite had been suppressed using the energy from the beast essence.

Of the 47 beast essences floating around her, Rachel consumed 15 of them. The 15 beast essences lost their red glow, then shattered into two pieces and fell down.

"This is enough, Aiden," Rachel explained, Aiden nodded.

He reached out to gather the remaining 32 beast essences back into his palm. Aiden kept the rest in his magic pouch, just in case Rachel complained about being hungry again tomorrow.

"Is that all?" the old man asked, Aiden nodded.

"Alright. Things are much better, you can rest," said the old man.

Aiden said goodbye, and so did Rachel. They walked back to the inn and arrived at their room. When the door opened, he saw Aurora standing there looking out the window.

"Looks like it was fun killing those black monsters," Aurora revealed.

"Indeed, they didn’t make any significant attacks on us," Aiden explained.

Aurora turned her head, looking at Rachel. The white-haired girl instantly asked about Rachel’s condition, to which Rachel replied casually.

"I’m full, Sis," Rachel explained.

"That’s good, let’s go to sleep," Aurora stated, willingly sharing the bed with the two of them.

Aiden smiled with relief at their closeness. At first, Aurora had always been aggressive to Rachel.

But, as time went by and trust was built between them, Aurora’s aggressive attitude softened into a form of attention from her.

It didn’t take long for Rachel and Aurora to fall asleep on the bed. Unlike Aiden who was still standing behind the glass window. The man was still wondering about the dragon’s roar earlier.

’The Wasteland is so mysterious. If my guess is correct that one of the dragon clans controls it, then I have no choice but to rely on Aurora or Rachel,’ Aiden explained.

The next day.

Aiden woke up to find that Aurora and Rachel were not in the room. Aiden was shocked and rushed out of the inn.

’Where did they go?" Aiden asked.

Since last night, Aiden had become famous in the village. The few villagers greeted him with smiles, they filled the village streets to start their activities.

Aiden closed his eyes, then activated his magic to detect their presence. The two-magic synchronization was very useful, it allowed Aiden to connect with them through a single magic thread.

From the village, he saw Aurora and Rachel sitting in front of a vendor selling accessories made of river stones and clay.

The location was a bit remote, but close to the inn. Immediately, Aiden went there and met up with them. Aurora turned around, showing him the bracelet on her hand.

"Look, Aiden. It’s cute," Aurora said, innocently.

"Huft. I thought that’s where you guys were going," Aiden explained.

He saw that the middle-aged woman sold many things besides accessories, such as kitchen and dining utensils made of clay. Her skills were impressive.

Aiden saw Aurora wearing a sparkling river stone bracelet, while Rachel wore a necklace of the same material. Both of them bought it, but haven’t paid for it yet.

"That makes four bronzes, Master Aiden," the seller explained.

The man sighed, then patted his magic pouch. He took out four bronzes and gave them to the seller.

Aiden and the others left the place. Just as they were near the inn, he saw some people getting out of a horse-drawn carriage.

When Aiden noticed, Fiona wasn’t in the group. Aiden was silent, perhaps he should wait until tomorrow for Fiona to arrive.

"Is the woman with the eagle not coming yet?" Aurora asked.

Aiden shook his head, "It looks like she’s a bit later than us."
