Chapter 91: The Horald Kingdom

***

The next day.

Aurora, Rachel, and Amber took turns guarding the room where Aiden was resting. The village healer had tried her best to heal Aiden, either using simple massage techniques or herbal potions.

Still, there was no sign Aiden would recover. The healer’s temporary guess was that Aiden had been injured by a magic attack and could only be healed by magic energy. Aurora nodded.

Today, it was Aurora’s turn to guard Aiden in his inn room. Both of her hands continued to stretch forward, emitting ice-blue magic energy absorbed by Aiden.

Amber had gone to accompany Rachel to hunt monsters in the forest, while Fiona had gone to Alron City to deliver the results of their mission.

"Aiden?" greeted Aurora, softly.

"When are you going to wake up?" she asked again, still streaming her ice-blue magic energy forward.

Aiden was still lying on the bed while receiving a supply of ice-blue energy from Aurora. Among the three elements of the three dragons, the single best element to perform recovery was the water element or similar that had a good correlation.

The ice element was one of them. According to what was explained in the book, the recovery process of injured mages with water or water-related magic would speed up the recovery process, about 10-15% faster than usual.

Even so, there was no sign that Aiden would wake up. To Aurora’s concern, this incident was exactly the same as when Aiden had finished meditating at the top of the fire fountain hill at Astralis Magical Academy.

At that time, Aiden had been asleep for ten days since the synchronization of the two magics was completed. When Aiden woke up, he had the momentum to level up quickly.

This was based on the fire elemental magic energy that might have been absorbed by Aiden’s body while he was at the top of the fire fountain hill.

However, things were different now. Aiden had fainted due to injuries from the use of his eye talent and regeneration ability. Even if he recovered, Aiden would not gain anything.

Aurora stopped her activities, letting Aiden lie down for a while as she recovered. There was still no significant change, but Aurora believed that Aiden would recover.

Rachel and Amber arrived. The black-haired girl said clearly that she had eaten her fill of forest monsters, Amber was seeing Rachel eat monsters as food for the first time.

"She’s a Dragon of the Shadow Dragon clan, her element is darkness, isn’t it natural for her?" asked Aurora, flat-faced.

"Are you also—"

"No! I eat fish and chicken," Aurora replied, interrupting Amber.

Amber glanced behind Aurora to see Aiden still lying helplessly. Amber walked from near the door to stand right next to the young man.

"Will he recover tomorrow?" asked Amber, her face filled with worry.

Aurora shook her head. Originally, she had thought that Aiden would recover quickly according to her calculations. However, she was wrong. Aiden’s condition was much worse than she had imagined.

"I don’t know. We can’t force him to recover," Aurora replied.

"W-What if Azar sees that Aiden hasn’t woken up yet?" Amber asked, afraid.

"You try talking to your brother, forcing Aiden to wake up is impossible. We can only keep trying to recover him while hoping he recovers quickly," Aurora replied.

Amber paused, then nodded a few times when she heard Aurora’s advice. Tomorrow is the day when Azar, Prince of the Fire Dragon Clan, will come to the village to pick up Aiden and Amber.

If he came and saw that Aiden hadn’t recovered, then he would certainly force Amber to go home and potentially ruin the beast taming contract between the girl and Aiden.

Aurora was feeling exhausted, she needed to go to one of the restaurants to fill her stomach. She said that she would be back at night, when Rachel’s turn to guard Aiden began.

The next day.

Time went so fast, they didn’t expect the dreaded day to arrive, especially for Amber. Amber squinted her eyes when her magic aura detected a group of mages walking from the south. There was no mistaking it, it was Azar and the Fire Dragon clan soldiers.

Aurora, who was recovering Aiden’s condition, went to meet Amber at the main street of the village.

Amber, Aurora, and Rachel were on the main street of the village, staring south where Azar continued to walk closer with the 20 fire dragon clan warriors who came with him.

"Azar," Aurora whispered.

Azar seemed indifferent, not responding to the greetings from the villagers. The man’s steps stopped when he was right in front of Amber. There, he didn’t see Aiden.

"Where’s Aiden?" Azar asked.

"About Aiden, we still can’t recover him," Aurora replied.

"What?!"

"Didn’t you say that you could recover him in two or three days?" asked Azar, pointing at Aurora.

"His condition is much worse than what I thought. You should understand since you were the one who attacked him so severely!" scolded Aurora.

The two responded by emitting a powerful magic aura to the place, Azar emitting a fire element magic aura while Aurora emitted an ice element magic aura.

The clash between the two made the village so chaotic, many villagers walked away from them, afraid of being affected by their clash.

"Calm down. I have a solution," replied Amber, Aurora still staring at Amber’s sister.

"Solution?" asked Azar, stopping the fire elemental magic aura.

"That’s right. I’ll go back to the Fire Dragon clan first and tell Father everything!" said Amber.

"About Aiden. I don’t want to force him since he hasn’t fully recovered yet," Amber replied.

Aurora stared ahead, watching Azar’s face as he seemed to dislike Amber’s proposal. She looked back, staring at Rachel. Luckily for her, Rachel seemed to understand the look in Aurora’s eyes.

"If you go back, then Aiden has to come!" said Azar.

"No! If Aiden comes, they won’t let him stay there safely."

"That’s the risk for meddling in the Fire Dragon clan’s affairs!" threatened Azar.

"How about it, Ice Dragon?" asked Azar, giving Aurora a stern look.

Aurora paused, then smiled a grin with a serious face. He tried to raise his hands forward, Azar and the other knights looked alarmed.

"I will not hand Aiden over to you!" said Aurora firmly.

"Transform!" Aurora shouted.

In an instant, an icy blue light flashed in the village, startling many of the displaced villagers. Completely shocked with their mouths agape, they witnessed a dragon in the center of their village.

ROAR!

Aurora roared forward to intimidate Azar. Azar smiled, feeling challenged by Aurora’s roar.

Elsewhere, a bright shining black light transformed Rachel into the form of a shadow dragon. Clutching Aiden in her mouth, Rachel flew away from the scene.

Aurora stayed behind, continuing to withstand the attacks from Azar who was relentlessly charging towards her.

As the battle raged in the sky, the moment sent out its own alarm signal in the nearby cities, warning of an emergency quest. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Just as Rachel was leaving, her attention was drawn to the west, as if there was a force pulling Rachel to go there. As a result, she decided to take Aiden to take a shelter in the Kingdom of Horald.

Aurora saw Rachel’s departure to the Horald Kingdom’s border. Quickly, she rushed to go after Rachel while continuing to block the power from Azar.

Azar brought up his fire spear, then shot the spear forward with the intention of hurting Aurora and Rachel. However, a ball of dark energy appeared from the direction of the Horald Kingdom.

"How dare a Fire Dragon attack one of us?!" said someone.

Two soldiers in black armor appeared and parried Azar’s attack. Azar gasped and stopped walking. Black armor, black horns, and black wings. Azar had guessed it, they were the Shadow Dragon Clan.

"The Shadow Dragon Clan!" said Azar.

"Leave her alone if you don’t want the relationship between the two dragon clans to be ruined!" said the man, pointing at Azar.

"If you let her in, then the Fire Dragon Clan will have no choice but to invade your kingdom!"
