Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Dead Language

The red beam blasted through the basement, splitting the remaining few shadow creatures in halves.

Carter hovered his hands over them and drew the blood out of their cold rotting corpses. The shadow fabric disappeared and they died.

The blood of the Undead affected Dracula in some way. Carter could feel that the skin was being influenced. However, whether it was good or bad, he didn’t really know for sure.

Carter felt that this hidden power was a type of corruption. Once the corruption reached maximum, there would be a change to a skin.

’Should I be worry? The Black Blood turned corpses into Undead. Dracula isn’t an Undead. He was just a half-human half-Terror being. True Dracula is an Undead...’

Carter wasn’t worried. Instead, he was excited. He wanted Dracula to acquire the power of the Undead and became a true Undead Vampire. He could easily achieve that by sacrifice an Undead Skin to Dracula.

But he had a hunch. He felt like if he could allow Dracula to naturally evolve into an Undead, he would get a pleasant surprise.

’People used to say ’Never underestimate your instinct.’ Let me see what you will become after being corrupted completely.’

Carter placed his hand on an Undead and began his process of converting them into shards.

’72 Undead Shards. Pretty good. I can actually create more Undead Variations now.’

Carter’s large body shrunk. His wings disappeared. And his horrific face became the pale man with dark hair.

Carter looked to the end of the basement, where the glowing Necroglotticon was.

’That thing isn’t ordinary’

He came and picked up the book. The pages were empty. There was nothing on it at all. However, Carter could still feel the power surging within it.

[ELDRITCH KNIGHT EQUIPPED]

Carter turned back to the white swordsman and checked the book. He still couldn’t read it and its power did not align with the Eldritch Knight.

Then he transformed again.

[SHADOW APOTHECARY EQUIPPED]

The skinny doctor appeared again. This time, there was a reaction.

[Necroglotticon detected]

[The item is compatible with Shadow Apothecary]

[Absorb?]

’You’re giving me a difficult option here, Skin System. I need this thing to get the Blood Sausage Fruit.’

[Absorption will not destroy the item]

The System replied immediately.

’Well... If that’s the case, absorb!’

The green energy went inside Carter.

[Shadow Apothecary has learned Dead Language]

Dead Language: You are able to use and understand the language of the dead, undead, and undying.’Pretty cool. If I can actually find an undead that hasn’t lost its mind yet...’

[ELDRITCH KNIGHT EQUIPPED]

Carter returned to the white swordsman and exited the basement.

The fifteen minutes time frame had passed long ago. But Charles and Peter were still standing in front of the Barret Museum. They didn’t leave.

"Do you think..." Peter said.

"I don’t know, Peter. But I hope not." Charles looked up to the sky.

Charles didn’t believe in God. He never did. And he was not going to change. But if he was, he would be praying for Zeneros.

Carter kicked the door open. His white robe glimmered under the moonlight.

"Zeneros!"

Charles and Peter approached him.

"Are you alright?" Charles asked with a concerning tone.

Carter nodded and showed them the Necroglotticon. "Is this what your friend wants?"

Charles took the book and examined it.

"This is it! We’ve found it!" Charles said.

Peter sighed in relief. "That’s great. Now we just need to find proper Holy Water. There must be a church somewhere that have it."

"Holy Water? Water that can rebel evil, right?" Carter said.

"Yes. Why do you ask?" Charles said.

"I’ll might be able to help."

Carter had a theory. The Holy Fire Bracer on his wrist produced Holy Fire. It wasn’t Holy Water but both of them had ’Holy’ in its name.

He was thinking whether he could find a way to transfer the power of the Holy Fire to water.

"Find me a pot." Carter said.

Charles pocketed the Necroglotticon. He had a huge pocket in his trench coat and it was perfect for that.

They returned to the area with the Mindless Infected. It was easy to find an abandoned fireplace with a usable pot on it.

"Should we light the fire or...’ Peter said.

"No need." Carter shook his head. He turned to Charles, "You have any bottle of water on you?"

Charles nodded and gave Carter a canteen. Carter pulled all the water into the dirty pot.

He then swiped the Prisoner over to the metal bracer. He did it with restraint to create only a small fire wave over the surface of the water.

The Holy Fire caught onto the water and stayed floating on the surface.

"It’s working!" Charles said.

"Not quite." Carter nodded. The Holy Fire was purifying the pot and any filth within the water. But it didn’t transfer the ’Holiness’ to the water.

Carter pulled off the Holy Fire Bracer and placed it inside the pot.

’Scraping over it created Holy Fire, how about dousing it in water?’

The water glimmered and became shinier. It looked like it was made by the moonlight and stars.

Carter went to find an Infected and dragged him to the fireplace.

"Don’t kill me! I didn’t do anything!" The Infected begged.

"Shut up and drink!"

Carter poured a little water into his mouth. The water immediately sizzled when it touched the Infected.

"It burns! It burns!" The Infected ran away. Carter let him.

Carter poured the remaining water into the canteen and gave it back to Charles.

"I’m not sure if this is Holy Water, give it to Dr. Hugo."

Charles frowned and took it. "Are you sure this is what we need? That man reacts like it was poison."

"Holiness repels all evil. It does not mean it will save the innocent. But maybe Dr. Hugo can find a way to use its characteristics and figure out a cure. Either way, you will have to ask him." Carter smiled.

He jumped onto the roof. "My role here is done. Farewell, my friends."

Charles and Peter waved at him, "Farewell, Zeneros."
