Chapter 378: Three Great Protectors

[Next Day.]

[The Green Fields - Unknown Realm]

"What did you just say?" Sunny asked, staring at Ezekiel. The revelation hung in the air, heavier than the gravity of the planet. Earth... was reachable?

"Explaining will take time... And losing time might lead to something you can’t handle. So..."

Ezekiel didn’t wait for a response. He snapped his fingers.

BOOM.

Instantly, an oppressive pressure descended on the whole field. It wasn’t just wind; it was pure, condensed aura. It slammed into Sunny like a physical hammer, forcing him to his knees with a gasp, his hands digging into the soil to keep from being flattened completely.

"You?! What are you doing now?!!" Sunny yelled, straining against the invisible weight, staring up at Ezekiel who stood unaffected.

"Did you forget the reason you’re here?" Ezekiel asked back, a slight, disappointed frown on his face.

Sunny blinked, sweat stinging his eyes, staring at him in surprise. The pain cleared his mind of the shock about Earth. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

"Yes... I chose you," Ezekiel continued, his voice echoing with divine authority. "Sunny Draco, make sure to use my powers well, I don’t care how you use it. You can even destroy the whole Worlds, no one will dare stand in your way. Ahem."

He coughed, momentarily breaking the god-like persona.

"Well, that old man will... Although he can’t beat me, he can deal with you." He said, staring at Sunny with a small, cryptic smile.

"My way and his way are kind of different. He likes taking things slow, but I prefer fast; so instead of giving you my strength and sealing it up... I will give you everything. If you can survive the energy is all up to you, if you can’t. You lose everything and die right here... So Sunny Draco, will you take this risk? Remember, you are still a human." He said, his gaze piercing through Sunny’s soul.

Sunny’s mind raced. The ’old man’... likely the System or the entity behind it. Ezekiel was offering a shortcut, but one paved with death.

"If I refuse, you’ll still kill me and take over my body right?"

"Correct." Ezekiel answered with an indifferent tone. To a God, the life of a mortal was a flicker; only the vessel mattered.

"Gaining my powers also means gaining my memories, you will become a god in one straight push. But only if you survive."

Sunny stared at his palm, his gaze unreadable. He thought about the enemies he had faced, the overwhelming power of the creatures in this realm. If he relies on the system, he will surely get stronger, but with all the pieces of information he got, there will be an enemy far stronger than any other waiting in the void...

Who will fight that enemy?

Sunny wasn’t ready to retire and let his children fight such a dangerous battle. He would rather stand in front of them in any future battles.

Yes, he could die. He could lose everything, and even the chance of seeing his family again. But what use will he be without having considerable strength to protect them?

He clenched his fist, the veins popping on his arm, and raised his head to Ezekiel.

"I am ready." He said. The fear was there, but the resolve was stronger.

"Hmm... Ok then, get on the boulder." Ezekiel said, gesturing to the prominent rock in the center of the field.

The crushing pressure vanished instantly. Sunny gasped, inhaling deeply, and slowly stood up. He placed the bottle of wine—the absurd catalyst for this entire journey—on the ground. He climbed the boulder, the stone rough beneath him, and sat down on it cross-legged.

"Get ready Sunny Draco... This is the biggest step you have taken in your life! 50-50 chance you will survive."

Ezekiel closed his eyes.

At first, there was silence. Then, the ground began to tremble. Not an earthquake, but a vibration from deep below.

The soil of the green field cracked open. Bony hands clawed their way to the surface. Next came skulls, then ribcages. In seconds, skeletons started rising from the ground; and in seconds, the whole field was filled with skeletons warriors—an army of the dead, standing in silent reverence.

Ezekiel opened his eyes again, but now, they were completely black. No whites, no pupils—just the infinite void.

"Ezekiel, the God of death, life, shadows, nothingness, darkness and reality! I hereby bestowed unto you, Sunny Draco my full strength, laws and memories!"

He chanted, his voice vibrating in the very atoms of the air.

As he spoke, his physical form began to blur. His body started disintegrating into particles of pure black and gold light, followed by the billions of skeletons of all shapes and sizes, which crumbled into dust and swirled upward.

BOOOOOM!!!!

A red storm appeared above Sunny, a vortex of raw power. The breeze picked up, blowing in all directions, flattening the grass. Sunny blinked, struggling to keep his eyes open against the gale. He looked down at Ezekiel one last time.

The moment he saw those void-black eyes, his consciousness snapped. He instantly fell unconscious, slumping forward on the rock.

"Start!" Ezekiel yelled, his voice the last thing remaining.

He instantly shattered into dust, flowing into the sky, all the skeleton dust following behind like a river of bone returning to the source.

DROP!

A heavy, viscous red drop fell from the clouds, landing on Sunny’s cheek. It was followed by another.

And the next second, it started raining blood.

__

[Abyss Mountain]

The lightning snake spirit, currently in her human body, sat atop a distant peak. She slowly raised her head to the sky, watching the crimson deluge begin.

She exhaled softly.

"You have lived for so long, Lord Ezekiel, finally, you can have your rest... Your successor will carry on." She said, her voice tinged with a mix of sadness and duty.

She slowly stood up, her clothes instantly soaked and her body covered by blood due to the rain.

"I should move closer to him." She said, and vanished in a streak of silver light.

SCREECH!!!!

The sound tore through the valley.

All the spider monsters, who had been held back by the divine aura of Ezekiel, shot out from the shadows. They stared at the blood rain, sensing the disappearance of the predator that had kept them at bay. Their thousands of eyes locked onto the unconscious human sitting on the boulder.

With Ezekiel gone, their bondage was loosed. Hunger replaced fear. They all shot forward with deadly speed, a tidal wave of black legs and clicking fangs.

WHOOSH!!! X3

BOOOOOM!!!

Just as the wave was about to crash onto the boulder, three colorful attacks smashed into them from the sky.

A blast of Silver lightning, a shockwave of Golden force, and a rain of Blue energy blades. The impact was catastrophic, shattering those in front of the horde into ashes.

The whole army of spiders came to a stop, confused by the sudden overwhelming force. They stared at the three figures that appeared in front of Sunny, standing as an impenetrable wall.

"Seems we are back together." The lightning snake said. She was holding a sword made from pure, crackling silver lightning, her eyes glowing with high voltage.

"You know it, Jenner."

To her right, a lady with long golden hair and eyes cracked her neck, then her knuckles. The sound was like stones grinding together.

"Haha! As the heaven of force! I have been dormant for so long!"

Rebecca grinned, a feral look in her eyes, and tied her black belt tighter on her golden karate outfit. Her aura distorted the air around her like heat haze.

"I so want to kill these things. What do you think, Sadie!!" She asked.

To Jenner’s left, a young man with blue hair and cold blue eyes moved his gaze from Rebecca to Sunny. He seemed bored, a sword made of blue energy resting casually on his shoulder.

"So he is our new Ruler... Not bad." He said, assessing Sunny’s unconscious form.

He turned to Jenner. "But why are you here Jenner? Is he also your master?" He asked.

The lightning snake looked over her shoulder at Sunny, feeling the bond deep in her soul, and slowly nodded her head: "Yes."

"Fascinating... So the heaven of lightning, the heaven of force and the heaven of Swords are all below this kid! Not bad... Not bad at all."

Sadie smirked. He threw his sword into the air. It didn’t fall; instead, it hovered, and they instantly multiplied to ten, forming a deadly halo behind him.

"So the great three protectors are back together! Hahaha! Let’s have our fun!"

He vanished.

Without hesitation, the swords shot forward, lashing back and forth, moving faster than the eye could follow. They were killing the spiders like they were weeds getting rooted off the ground, leaving clean cuts through carapace and rock alike.

"Hey!!! Heaven of swords!! Have some respect!!" Rebecca yelled, annoyed that he started without her.

She shot forward, the ground cracking under her launch, her fists glowing with a blinding golden light.

"Leave them to me!"

She leaped into the air, defying gravity, and delivered a punch on a massive spider. The contact didn’t just break the shell; the force of her attack shattered the spider into paste, sending a shockwave through its body that kept moving, killing all the spiders behind it in a cone of destruction.

Jenner stood still near the boulder, holding her lightning sword, the tip pointing to the ground. While the two were going wild in the distance, she stood still in place, the final line of defense.

"AHHHHHHH!!"

Sunny suddenly screamed in pain, his body arching on the rock.
