Chapter 400: Dragon Linage!

"Ok, that is taken care of." Jinx said, casually dusting her hands as if she had just swatted a fly rather than obliterating a biological nightmare. She turned around to Sunny, her expression expectant.

"What were you going to say?" She asked.

Before Sunny could answer, a wet, hacking sound broke the silence. Zach coughed up more blood, his body trembling as the poison finally overcame his adrenaline. He turned his fading eyes to Sunny, waiting for judgment or salvation.

Sunny looked at the dying Lord, then raised his head to the sky, his golden eyes piercing the clouds.

"Ladon... You can come down now."

WHOOSH!!!

The wind didn’t just blow; it screamed. Ellen and Jinx blinked in surprise, shielding their eyes against the sudden gale. They hadn’t expected that the huge ancient dragon would come along for this trip.

In a blink of an eye, a true eclipse descended. A huge darkness covered the whole Dragon Faction capital, blotting out the sun completely. Ladon hovered above the city, and his size alone was twice the landmass of the capital itself. He was a continent floating in the sky, a creature of myth made flesh.

His appearance instantly alerted all the Dragon Faction. wailed, and chaos fell in the city as millions of dragons panicked under the shadow of a predator they couldn’t comprehend.

"Calm down fellow dragons, I am not an enemy!"

Ladon’s voice sounded all over the land, vibrating in the chest of every living being like a thunderclap. He moved away from the city proper to avoid crushing it with his displacement and landed on the open plains outside the walls. He moved his colossal face towards the city; even the dragons in the city were horrified by his ancient, scarred face and eyes as black as the void.

Hearing the name Ladon, Zach used all his remaining strength. He forced himself to his feet, his legs wobbling, clutching the pulsing black orb in his hand like a lifeline.

"You? You are Ladon?" He asked, staring up at the head that covered half the horizon.

Ladon stared at him, his gaze heavy with centuries of history. He lowered his gaze to the orb in Zach’s hand.

"I knew it." He said, his voice rumbling like an earthquake. He turned his massive eye to Ellen, then Jinx, and lastly at Sunny.

"My Lord, that Orb belongs to my father... That is his heart."

"Huh?"

Jinx, Ellen, and even Zach were stunned, their mouths slightly open. Sunny, however, simply nodded his head. He already knew all this—the lineage, the history—which was why he had brought Ladon along in the first place.

"If I am correct, this city. It’s one of your family bloodline, just like the ones in the lower world, right?" Sunny asked, staring at Ladon.

Ladon nodded his head, the movement creating a gust of wind.

"The Lord is correct. All dragons bloodlines started from the Abyssal Dragons. In the past, hundreds of years ago. We all lived in harmony, until the Great Mother appeared and wiped out half of my race. Those that survived scattered all over the place, and started their own nations."

He lowered his gaze to Ellen, his expression softening as much as a giant dragon’s could.

"All these while, I wonder why I felt this much closeness with this Kid. Now I know." He turned his gaze back to Sunny.

"These two girls are bath of my direct lineage... Meaning, they are my family." He said.

"....?!!!"

The whole Faction city was dumbfounded. From the nobles hiding in their towers to the guards on the walls, all were speechless, staring at the huge head in shock. The banished children were not just hybrids; they were royalty of the highest order.

Sunny stared at Jinx, then at Ellen.

"That is why I brought you here... I knew these two won’t take over this rule, so it’ll be given to you." Sunny said calmly, staring at Zach, offering a solution that solved the succession crisis.

"Wait!!" Jinx yelled, stepping forward and staring up at Ladon.

"If we are your family, then why can we take on our human appearance while you can’t?" She asked.

Ladon’s eyes dimmed slightly.

"That is because Lilith’s cut it off... We, the Abyssal dragons, we were the ones who stood back and fought her... We failed." He moved his gaze over them, recounting the tragedy.

"She not only took that away, she also sealed us in the lower world realm." He turned to Sunny with gratitude. "That’s where the Lord found us."

He exhaled a puff of smoke from its nose, the gray cloud momentarily obscuring the view.

"When we arrived in that world Elemental Prism started hunting us down! Saying we are some kind of calamity. Even Lilith said this... We have no idea what they were saying. When they started attacking us, we simply fought back."

Sunny didn’t wait for more explanation. He snapped his fingers, and the dark orb flew out of the stunned Zach’s hand. It floated through the air, vibrating with resonance, moving towards Ladon.

"Absorb it, and I’ll tell you the reason why they attacked your race and almost got you wiped out."

Ladon blinked, his eyes filled with shock. He looked at the heart of his father, the source of his lost power. Without hesitation, he absorbed the orb, merging it with his body.

WHOOSH!

The air screamed as spirit energy collapsed inward. Everyone watched as black smoke covered all his body, swirling like a tornado. The massive silhouette began to shrink, compressing miles of flesh and scale into a human form.

The next moment, the huge dragon vanished.

A man with shoulder-length black hair appeared before them, hovering in the sky. He was dressed in a black robe, and his eyes were as black as night—the true form of the Abyssal King.

He slowly landed in front of the group, looking at his hands, feeling his face. He looked at himself in shock and disbelief.

"The reason Lilith attacked your race is because of this."

Sunny waved his hand. The air shimmered, and a holographic image appeared before them. It depicted a terrifying scene: a huge black dragon, who looked exactly like Ladon in his beast form, but its eyes were glowing red with madness. It was burning the whole Supreme World into ashes, tearing reality apart.

".....?!"

Ladon was flabbergasted. He stared at the projection of himself as a world-ender.

"I will never do that, our race isn’t evil." He said, his face filled with confusion and denial.

"That is indeed your race, but the corrupted ones... The Abyssal dragons are a lot stronger than any dragons. And once corrupted, they could create unbelievable amount of destruction on any world... That’s why Lilith and Elemental Prism attacked you. Instead of waiting for the seedling to grow into an unstoppable tree, why not uproot it when it’s still a child?" He said, staring at Ladon to see his reaction.

He continued, his voice neutral. "I am not saying their approach is a good thing. They should have at least reach out to your leader and discuss this."

Ladon’s expression shifted from horror to anger, and then to understanding.

"Actually... Lilith did. She even asked us to be under her so she could watch our growth, but my father refused." He said. He clenched his fists, realizing his father’s pride had cost them everything.

He looked up at Sunny. The God Wolf had restored his form and his dignity. Without hesitation, he dropped to his knees, bowing his head to the floor.

"My Lord!!! We swore our lives to you! And I give you my word, none of my race will ever turn against the Lord! If that happens, kill us on spot!! We will readily accept it!" He yelled, his voice echoing with absolute sincerity.

Sunny nodded in satisfaction. He walked towards him and placed his hand on Ladon’s shoulder, signaling him to rise.

"Don’t worry about that, with me here. The enemy won’t have that opportunity." He said with absolute confidence.

He looked over his shoulder at the dying man.

"Old dragon. You can finally let go... Leave your faction under my command."

Zach smiled. A burden he had carried for centuries finally lifted. He turned his fading vision to Ellen and Jinx.

"The second reason I called you two here is to ask for your forgiveness." He said, staring at them, his eyes pleading. "Please fulfill this old dragon’s last wish."

Ellen slowly nodded her head, her face soft. "I wasn’t angry with you to begin with." She said with a small smile.

Jinx sighed, scratching the back of her head. "Yeah... We already moved past that. I also forgive you. Don’t worry, we will help and also look after the dragon faction and our people." She said, acknowledging her heritage for the first time.

"Thank you, all of you." Zach said. He stared at everyone—his granddaughters, the true King of Dragons, and God Wolf.

As he spoke, cracks of light appeared on his face. His skin started peeling away into particles of pure spirit energy.

"Oh, God wolf... Cough! Try to get back the sword, I don’t know why she took it, but it still has the powers of three of our bloodlines."

With that said, his physical form gave way. All his body shattered into light, flying away into the atmosphere, returning to the flow of the world.

Sunny stared at the light drifting upward, and exhaled.

"I wish I can." He muttered under his breath.

Although he couldn’t track the weapon immediately, he knew what the enemy was planning, and it would take them years just to get things ready. He would rather spend time with his family than chasing some people across dimensions right now.

"I actually thought we will bury him." Jinx said, rubbing her neck with a dry smile, breaking the somber mood.

Sunny stared at her, and shook his head lightly at her bluntness. Then, his expression sharpened. He raised his head to the empty sky, sensing a presence that had been lurking since the beginning.

"Are you ready to show yourself, Lilith?" He asked in a flat tone.
