Infinite wealth In A New World-Chapter 416: Kill!!!
[Dark Alley]
The alley was a festering wound in the city’s architecture, narrow and slick with grime. Esther, cornered, turned around to face the man and his nightmarish hound.
"Come on! Run!" He yelled with a smirk, relishing the hunt. "You have nowhere to hide!!"
"Really?"
The lady’s voice sounded steady. She slowly raised her hand, her actions calm and steady, and removed the mask on her face. Her eyes were revealed—two burning orbs of crimson.
"You?!" The man recoiled in genuine horror, recognizing the ocular signature. "You can’t be--"
Esther smiled sweetly. With a flick of her wrist, a Golden Card—a Legendary grade—appeared. But instead of summoning a beast to fight alongside her, the card shattered into golden dust that swirled and merged directly into her body.
"You are amongst the Originals!!" He yelled in shock.
Two magnificent white feathered wings burst from Esther’s back, scattering light into the dark alley. Her nails elongated into razor-sharp claws, and her aura spiked, displacing the stagnant air.
"Now, tell me the location of the Ghosts. This is your only way out." She said, admiring her lethal claws, though her heart hammered against her ribs.
’Why do I feel something is off?’ She thought.
"Hahaha!!!"
".....?!"
Esther was stunned. The man wasn’t cowering; he was laughing. He clutched his lower abdomen, tears of mirth gathering in his eyes.
"Have you gone mad out of fear?!!" She yelled, her face contorted with rage and confusion.
"Do you truly think insignificant people will dare attack one of your bases, kill some members, and chase after you?"
He raised his hand to his jaw. To her shock, he dug his fingers into his skin and pulled. The flesh tore away like wet paper, revealing a face she knew all too well from the wanted posters and nightmares of the Resistance.
"You!!"
"Fufufu!! Finally, I get to take down one of the Originals." The ’man’, who had been in disguise from the very start, spoke with a chillingly feminine voice, licking her lips in anticipation.
"Patricia... Known as the Second Ghost!" Esther hissed, dropping into a defensive stance. Her plan was to catch a low-level henchman for information, not to encounter one of the apex predators of the Ghost Organization.
"Why don’t we get serious?" Patricia snapped her fingers. Five Golden Cards appeared before her, humming with immense power. They shattered into lights, coalescing into five grotesque birds with wide, unblinking eyes and gaping maws.
"Potoos?!!" Esther was stunned, instinctively creating distance. These weren’t ordinary birds; they were sonic nightmares.
"My loves... Why don’t you sing a song to our guest?" Patricia said with a cruel smile.
BU-OH, BU-ou, bu-oo, bu-aw!!!!
The sound wasn’t just noise; it was a physical assault.
"AHHHH!!!"
Esther dropped to her knees, clutching her ears as blood began to trickle through her fingers. The birds kept wailing, sending localized sound waves capable of shattering bone within a ten-mile radius.
’Shit!! Even with my Legendary Grade Beast Fusion, I can’t withstand the strength of five Legendary Grade summonses simultaneously.’ She thought, gritting her teeth against the agony splitting her skull.
"With your looks and fusion, I am sure you’re Esther," Patricia said, staring down at the woman writhing on the pavement. A pleased smile appeared on her face as she watched the blood flow.
"I was busy searching for Originals to kill or recruit, and I end up with you... Come on, why don’t you join me? Just agree, and you’ll be spared from all this misery." She stretched forth her hand towards Esther, an offer of salvation wrapped in thorns.
"I am waiting."
"You!" Esther forced her gaze up, her red eyes burning with defiance.
"Your organization kills people and wipes out cities without sympathy!! Do you think you’re the good guys!! I will never join you!" She yelled, spitting blood at Patricia’s feet.
"Oh well... That isn’t a surprise. The Originals who refuse us always end up dead. Seems I will have to kill you now." She lowered her hand with a shrug.
"It’s a pity... I wanted to savor this feeling." She lightly shook her head. The birds stopped their wailing for a brief second to inhale for the killing note.
"Five of you, use---"
BOOOOM!!
"...?!"
Patricia looked behind Esther at the dead-end wall. The brick didn’t explode; reality itself did. The space tore open, and a gateway appeared, swirling with energies that made the Legendary beasts whimper.
"Huh?" She was stunned.
"So this is the realm."
Jinx stepped out from the gateway. She was dressed in a sleek black outfit topped with a long coat, her appearance entirely human, yet her presence felt heavier than the gravity of the planet.
".....?!!"
Patricia and Esther were frozen, staring at the woman who had appeared out of thin air. Shock piled upon shock as three more people stepped out—two boys and a girl—and the gateway snapped shut behind them, vanishing as if it never existed.
Lucian blinked, his golden eyes scanning the scene with disinterest. He looked at Esther on the ground, then at Patricia.
"What a drag... I didn’t know we will encounter two women. Now who should we ask?" He asked, scratching the back of his head.
"Just shut up!" Treasure yelled at him, ignoring the bleeding woman and the monster birds.
"Hey! I am older than you!!" Lucian yelled back.
"Yeah right! Just five minutes older!!" Treasure countered, pointing a finger at his chest.
"Here they go again." Destiny sighed, rubbing his temples, while Jinx stood aside, arms crossed, watching the show with amusement.
’Who are these four? They came out of a spatial rift, but they don’t have a single trace of mana? Are they just ordinary people? But the way they appeared... I must be careful.’ Patricia thought, her instincts screaming danger despite their lack of magical signature.
"Who are you, morons?" She asked with a deep frown.
Hearing her, the two siblings who were busy arguing froze. The air temperature dropped instantly.
"Uh oh." Destiny and Lucian took a synchronized step back. Even Jinx followed suit, knowing what was coming.
"What did you just say?" Treasure asked. Her voice was quiet, but it carried the rumble of an impending earthquake. She turned her rage towards Patricia.
"You heard me? Yelling like kids... Don’t you know it’s annoying?" Patricia sneered, confident in her five Legendary beasts.
"How dare you?!" Treasure started walking towards Patricia, her eyes flashing with a terrifying light.
"No!! Don’t get close to those birds!" Esther yelled. She scrambled up, trying to shield the foolish girl.
’No! She is just a human! If those five use that skill again! I must save her.’ Esther forced her broken body to move, diving in front of Treasure.
"You’re truly a moron! Patoos!! Sonic Wailing!!"
BU-OH, BU-ou, bu-oo, bu-aw!!!!
The alley shook violently.
"...?!"
Treasure stopped. She stared at the woman standing in front of her—Esther—whose wings were spread wide, desperately trying to shield her from the sound waves. She blinked, watching Esther’s trembling body and the fresh blood flowing from her ears.
"Hey? What happened to you?" Treasure asked in genuine confusion, stepping around to face Esther.
"Huh? You... Why aren’t you affected by the sound?" Esther asked, bewildered, her voice barely a whisper through the ringing in her ears.
Treasure looked over her shoulder at the birds, annoyed by the noise but physically unaffected due to her superior constitution.
"You’re right, those sounds give me the creeps... I should kill them, but first."
She turned back to Esther and placed both her palms on the woman’s ears. A gentle green light flared. Instantly, the ruptured eardrums and internal bleeding healed.
"This? What are you?!" Patricia asked in shock, taking a step back.
’This is strange... She doesn’t have any mana, then how is she resisting the attack from five Legendary Grade summonses??’ Patricia’s mind raced.
"I said shut up, I am busy here!" Treasure snapped.
She removed one hand from the stunned Esther’s ear. A Red Card materialized in her hand. It didn’t look like the cards of this world; it pulsed with a primal, bloody light.
She crushed it.
"Kill those birds."
Whoosh!!
The red lights swirled together, condensing into a humanoid soldier ant clad in crimson armor, standing five feet tall. It held no weapon, for its body was the weapon.
"What the?!!" Patricia was stunned, feeling the suffocating pressure radiating from the single summon.
"That Card... It’s stronger than a Legendary Card! How is that possible?!" She yelled in panic. She waved her hand frantically, summoning ten more Golden Cards. Ten more Legendary monsters appeared, bringing her army to fifteen.
"Kill them!!"
Treasure commanded simply, removing her hand from Esther’s fully healed ears.
SCREECH!!!
The Crimson Ant let out a shriek that tore through the sonic wailing of the Potoos. It vanished.
It moved with speed that defied the laws of this realm.
"Kill it!!!!" Patricia yelled.
But the command died in her throat.
WHOOSH!!!
The ant reappeared behind her and her entire army. It stood still, blood dripping from its mandibles.
"...?!!!"
