Chapter 418: New Alliance

"They are either killed, or got caught up in some explosion and died..." Destiny sighed, a rare look of frustration crossing his face. "Although they’re my spies and creation, I can’t feel the presence from our realm. Meaning, whatever happened here or to them, I don’t know... I only know about the ones who survived."

"Oh." Treasure nodded, staring at her brother with new respect. "I know you’re smart, but this is in another level. Preparing ahead..."

"And..."

"Huh? There are more?" Treasure was speechless.

"Thanks to my spies, I know almost everything about this realm and the Originals... But." He turned to Jinx, his expression serious. "I have no idea of our target." He said.

Jinx nodded her head, accepting the gap in their intel. She moved her gaze to the bed. "Are you done pretending?"

Esther opened her eyes. She had been awake for minutes, listening, her heart pounding against her ribs. She stared at the three in the room, a slight frown on her face. She heard half of what they talked about—worlds, spies, insects—and it just kept confusing her.

"Now... Do you mind telling us your name?" Jinx asked, crossing her arms on her chest, her stance demanding answers.

"I am Esther Marriott," Esther said, sitting up slowly. She watched their faces, expecting recognition.

"Wait, did you just say, you’re from the Marriott family?" Treasure asked, appearing in front of her in seconds.

The speed was blinding. Esther flinched. ’What the?! These guys don’t even have Mana, to others, they’re only ordinary people, but their strength and skills can even rival a SS rank summoner!’ She thought in horror. They moved like monsters in human skin.

"I am Jinx, She is Treasure, and he is Destiny... The last guy, well, he is Lucian," Jinx introduced the group casually, ignoring Esther’s internal panic. She added:

"Take us to your father, the current head of the family."

"My father is not the current head. My grandfather is, and..." She moved her gaze on the four, realizing she was outmatched. "I am sorry, I can’t take you right now."

"Huh? And why is that?!" Treasure asked with a frown, her patience wearing thin.

"I have been in City X for two days... I am not here for fun." She got to her feet, wincing slightly. "I was given an order to protect this city, and I won’t leave until I achieve that." She said, her voice firm despite her fear.

"Protect it from what? Look out the window, everything is good!" Treasure yelled at her, pointing at the window where the sun was shining on a seemingly peaceful street.

"Does she always like yelling?" Esther asked in confusion.

"Kind of," Destiny answered dryly.

Jinx shrugged, focusing on the core issue. "This mission, what is it about?"

"It’s Very important... Ten cities have fallen in the hand of the Ghost, specifically from one man."

"One man?" Destiny frowned, intrigued.

"Yes, he called himself the executioner... He controls a lot of legendary grade cards and one Mythical grade. That makes him dangerous; Very dangerous," Esther explained, walking towards the table where her gear had been placed. She reached for her daggers, finding comfort in the cold steel.

"One Mythical grade?" Treasure was confused.

"Sister... There are five Grades in this realm. Which are. Common, Rare, Elite, Legendary, and Mythical. The colors are, Green, Blue, Purple, Gold, and Red respectively," He said, reciting the data he had gathered.

"Correct. A mythical grade summon is impossible to get, some says it’s a myth, but somehow, Executioner got one, and even with his SS rank strength, he could fight an SSS rank Summoner," Esther explained, clipping her daggers to her belt.

"Wait, is it a red card?" Treasure asked in confusion.

"Yes." Esther added.

"Are these the cards?" Treasure waved her hand casually.

Instantly, the room was bathed in a suffocating crimson light. Twenty red Cards, glowing with immense, unstable energy, appeared in the room, floating above her head like a halo of blood.

".....?!!!!!!"

Esther froze. She was paralyzed by a mixture of horror, disbelief, shock, and surprise. She stared at the twenty cards, her eyes darting from one to the other. She saw an Ant card radiating ancient power, then an armored dragon snake that looked like a world-ender, then at a red armor knight. In short, all summonses were in red armor, pulsing with Mythical energy.

Esther moved backward until her body hit the table, the wood digging into her spine. "How... How can you, how did you have twenty Mythical summonses, and you can control them all!" She yelled in shock, her voice cracking. The concept defied the laws of her reality.

"There is nothing special about it. We all have twenty of this each, all the same summons."

"Twenty Each!! That... That means you three, have... Have--"

The realization was too much. The sheer magnitude of power in this small motel room overloaded her senses. Esther’s eyes rolled back, and she collapsed to the ground, shocking the three present.

"....?!!!"

"What the hell?!" Treasure was dumbfounded, looking down at the woman.

"We don’t have time, you do know that, right?" Jinx asked with a frown, her arms crossed on her chest.

Esther opened her eyes groggily and sat up, her gaze immediately locking onto the cards still floating in the air, then at Treasure. The fear was gone, replaced by a desperate need to understand.

"Who are you guys exactly?" She asked.

"We already told you our names... The second thing you need to know is that, we aren’t from this realm," Destiny said calmly.

"Yep." Treasure waved her hand, storing back her cards in her spatial storage. The red pressure vanished, leaving the room feeling empty. She turned to the door. "And where is Lucian?!" She asked.

"Come on... Let’s go." Jinx turned and started walking towards the door, her coat flapping behind her as she stepped out.

"Let’s go." Destiny and Treasure followed behind her, while Esther stood up, dusting herself off and hurrying to catch up.

____

[Outside the motel.]

The street was gritty, the air filled with the sounds of a city struggling to survive. Esther moved her gaze around the rundown area, the peeling paint and the dirt all over the place.

"A question, why didn’t you guys look for a nice hotel?" She asked, staring at the three in front of her. They looked like nobility, yet they slept in a dump.

"You were unconscious then. Taking you to a big hotel will surely draw attention," Destiny said, looking at her over his shoulder.

"Oh, that makes sense." Esther nodded her head.

"Besides, we don’t have money," Treasure added cheerfully.

"You don’t have money? Then how did you pay?" Esther paused, a sinking feeling in her stomach.

"We took the money on you and paid everything to the owner," Treasure answered.

"What?!! I have ten thousand dollars on me!! You gave all that to that man?!!" Esther shrieked. That was her operational budget for the month.

"Quiet down... The money also helps buy him, at least you did something even when unconscious," Destiny cut her off coldly.

’Geez... Why is he suddenly so cold?’ Esther thought in confusion, biting her lip.

BEEP!!!!

A loud, piercing horn blasted through the air. She turned her head to the sound, and what she saw next, froze her in shock.

"What the??!! Are you kidding me?!!!" She yelled.
