Chapter 424: Karma

[On The Roof — Tens of Miles Away]

"What the??"

Madurai and Angelina were speechless, staring at the empty land where a massive factory had stood seconds ago. The wind howled across the gap in the cityscape, the only sound filling the sudden void.

"I can’t believe this? Or, is this a summon’s skill?" Madurai muttered in shock.

"Did? How... What?" Angelina was so stunned she couldn’t complete a single sentence. Her mind, usually sharp and devious, struggled to process the sheer scale of the disappearance.

"Hunchback Poison doesn’t have such a summon, so it must be them!" Madurai closed his eyes, extending his sensory mana like a net across the district. He searched for a heartbeat, a mana signature, anything.

"I can’t even sense him? It’s like... he was erased along with the whole building."

"You mean, Hunchback Poison is dead?" Angelina asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"That’s the only explanation." Madurai opened his eyes, the red glow dimming as exhaled:

"Those four... They aren’t simple. For now, let’s focus on our other objectives. Fighting them head-on is suicidal..." He clenched his fists, the realization bitter.

’I knew the Second Leader hid something from us... At least, she should have given us some warning, or advice.’ He thought, and shattered into smoke, carried away by the wind.

"This is really frustrating. We just lost the Tenth Ghost member... This haven’t happened in a very long time." Angelina muttered. She cast one last look at the empty lot, then shattered into a flock of black feathers, dispersing into the sky.

[Lucian’s Domain — The Void]

BAM!!

The reality shift was instantaneous. The entire factory building appeared inside an infinite dark space. Outside the building, hovering on an invisible floor, stood Lucian, Jinx, Treasure, Destiny, and Esther.

Esther was encased in a shimmering blue barrier, her eyes wide as she looked at the abyss surrounding them.

"You actually wanted to destroy the whole city? Are you that mad?!" Jinx asked with a slight frown, staring at Lucian’s back. Her arms were crossed, her posture reprimanding.

"Well... You stopped me, and I had to change skill," Lucian said, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "Instead of erasing it, I just pulled it in here. Sorry about that."

"Wait!!" Esther yelled, Jinx’s words finally registering in her shock-numbed brain.

"You wanted to destroy the whole city?!!! Are you that ruthless!!!" She screamed at him, banging her fist against the blue energy wall. "Get me out of this barrier, let me deal with him, let me out!!!"

"If I let you out from that, you will die instantly," Jinx pointed out calmly.

"Huh?" Esther froze.

"Look around you." Jinx gestured to the darkness. It wasn’t just an absence of light; it was a hungry, crushing pressure.

"This place is known as Lucian’s Domain... He has a very special power, and that power permeates every inch of this place. The moment I remove that barrier, the atmosphere alone will grind you down."

Jinx turned to look Esther in the eye. "You will watch your skin get peeled off slowly, then your muscles, your blood vessels, and finally your bones... All this while you’ll still be breathing. Do you get me?"

Esther shivered, the blood draining from her face. The description was so specific, so clinical, that she knew Jinx wasn’t exaggerating.

"Can... Can someone escape from this?" she whispered.

"None have," Jinx answered.

"Then why are you three alright?!" She asked, pointing at the siblings standing casually in the void.

"Anyone who has tasted his blood won’t be affected by the energy... That doesn’t mean we’re invincible in here. This isn’t our world to begin with," Jinx explained.

’These guys are getting more interesting by the second,’ Esther thought, moving her gaze to Treasure and Destiny.

’Do these two also have domains?’

"Don’t worry, you will be fine," Treasure whispered, leaning in with a conspiratorial grin. "And don’t think about all that. Honestly, to me, Lucian’s domain isn’t even torture. Just wish that you never enter Destiny’s Domain... That is the true definition of hellish torture."

Esther blinked, turning to the silent, black-haired boy. He stood with his hands in his pockets, looking at the factory. She swallowed hard.

’Becoming their enemy is truly the worst karma.’

"Sorry about that. Won’t happen again," Lucian apologized, staring at her over his shoulder. He turned his head back to the captured building floating in the void.

"Truthfully, this is a drag, but Let’s get back to business..." He said.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"

A blood-curdling scream erupted from inside the factory. Hunchback Poison was experiencing the domain firsthand.

Esther felt a chill run down her spine. The sound was raw, filled with agony beyond comprehension.

"Old man. You have one minute to give me the location of the Beast... I don’t need any big information, you know what I am referring to," Lucian said. He didn’t shout; his voice simply reverberated through the entire dimension, omnipresent and commanding.

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"

’My god,’ Esther thought, staring at Lucian’s broad back. He wasn’t even moving.

"I will talk!!! Please, I will talk!!!! Please!!!!" Hunchback shrieked, his spirit breaking.

"Start."

"The Ghosts don’t know the location of the Beast!! But we believe the Old Master in the South Pole will know!! They’re currently heading there with their flying beasts!"

"Where is the exact location of this Old Master?" Lucian asked.

"We don’t know!! They’ll start searching once they arrive!!" He yelled, desperate for the pain to stop.

"Ok. I heard something about the Commandments. Are they working with you?! And do you know their goals?"

"No!!! We are enemies! They are also after the Beast!!"

Lucian looked over his shoulder at Jinx. She nodded her head, confirming the intel aligned with their suspicions.

"Esther’s grandfather will tell us the rest. We can go now," Jinx said.

"Ok." Lucian nodded his head. He clenched his fist.

"Done. He’s dead."

There was no fanfare. The screaming simply stopped.

Lucian snapped his fingers. The next moment, the group and the factory building vanished from the domain space.
