Chapter 129: I’ll go die outside right now

Paros watched Rory’s guarded expression as she faced him, and felt a faint tightening in his chest. She seemed to like him less and less.

Yet just last night, she had...

Thinking of what happened the night before, Paros pressed his lips together and looked at Rory with a serious expression.

"I came to tell you that I don’t want to dissolve our match anymore."

The moment those words fell, Vincent, Yuel, and Jasper all turned sharp, dangerous gazes toward Paros.

Paros ignored them and focused on Rory. "I want to bond with you."

"No." Rory rejected him without the slightest hesitation.

"Why?" Paros hadn’t expected her refusal. He frowned, clearly confused. "But last night, you clearly—"

Before he could finish, Rory cut him off. "What happened last night is not a reason for me to bond with you."

Just because Vincent and Jasper beat him half to death last night didn’t mean he could use that as an excuse to cling to her.

What kind of fantasy was he indulging in?

Rory didn’t know why Paros had suddenly changed his mind and no longer wanted to dissolve the match, but she was firm in her decision.

"I won’t agree."

"But I offended you. I have to take responsibility." Paros had just said this when his communicator suddenly rang.

He didn’t want to check it—he still wanted to say more to Rory—but right then, Ethan Gabriel’s communicator rang as well. Ethan glanced at the message, and his face changed instantly.

"Dragon Lord, something’s happened in the Fire Domain and the Thunder Domain."

Damn it.

Paros had no choice but to stop pressing the matter. He looked at Rory apologetically.

"Rory, I have to head back first. Once I’ve dealt with this, I’ll come find you again."

With that, Paros immediately left with Ethan.

Jasper watched Paros’s retreating figure and asked in confusion, "Ever since the Fire and Thunder Domains were conquered by Paros, they’ve been quiet. They’ve never dared cause trouble. What could possibly have happened?"

Yuel thought for a moment before explaining, "Xarion has left the Snow Domain, and Paros isn’t in the Water Domain either. Two Rank Eleven powerhouses are gone at the same time.

"The Insectoid Clans probably got wind of it and decided to stir up trouble."

He paused, then added, "Judging by how anxious Paros looked, this doesn’t seem like a small matter."

Yuel then glanced at Vincent.

Although the Four Great Domains were technically independent and not under imperial control, they were still interdependent.

If something truly went wrong in the Domains, the Empire couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.

Vincent calmly poured Rory a cup of tea before speaking. "Even if Xarion and Paros are both absent, the Four Domains aren’t defenseless. If help is really needed, the imperial council will be notified."

"For now, it’s not something we need to worry about."

Then Vincent looked at Yuel. "And you—are you done with your work yet? You’ve been back this long. Aren’t you planning to return?"

So now that you have a Female Master, you’re just abandoning your duties?

At that, Yuel finally had some confidence. "You’ve got the nerve to say that?"

He pointed at Vincent and Jasper. "This is how you two take care of our Female Master? Both of you lost control, trashed the house, and even let a shameless dragon barge in and cause trouble."

"If I hadn’t come back unexpectedly, who would’ve looked after her? Who would’ve cleaned up your mess?"

Vincent fell silent instantly.

Jasper lowered his head, feeling guilty.

Yuel snorted coldly, then walked over to Rory and softened his tone. "Rory, don’t bother with them. I’ll take you back to rest."

After all the chaos last night, and then dealing with the Snow Domain first thing this morning, she definitely hadn’t rested well.

Rory looked at Yuel, who finally seemed to have regained the upper hand, and nodded while holding back a smile.

"I am a bit tired. I’ll go back and catch up on sleep."

Finally—this was his moment. Watching Yuel leave with Rory, Jasper ground his fangs together.

That guy was really getting arrogant.

He turned to Vincent. "Even if Yuel and you are equals in rank, in this house, he should still listen to you, shouldn’t he? You took the position of first partner—this is how you manage the others?"

Letting someone point at you and scold you without even talking back? Since when did Vincent become this good-tempered?

Vincent rubbed his temple, a headache already forming. "Didn’t you notice Rory was siding with him too? What was I supposed to say in front of her?"

Besides, he really had been at fault last night. It wasn’t surprising that Yuel seized the chance to lord it over him.

Jasper said nothing more and hurried after Rory.

Vincent remained seated on the sofa, fingers lightly tapping the armrest made of fragrant waterwood, lost in thought.

Meanwhile...

The moment Rory and Yuel stepped inside, they were greeted by the sight of a corpse hanging in the living room.

"Hiss—!"

Rory sucked in a sharp breath, completely startled.

Yuel immediately stepped in front of her and shouted at Xarion,

"Xarion, get down here. If you want to die, go die outside!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Was this guy really sick in the head or what? Hanging himself inside the house?!

After yelling, Yuel immediately took out a leaf and handed it to Rory.

"Rory, my leaves don’t just heal injuries—they also calm the mind."

"It’s fine, really." Rory waved her hand. She’d just been shocked by the image for a moment—once she processed it, she wasn’t scared anymore.

Hearing Yuel’s shout, Xarion immediately dropped to the floor.

The rope was still looped around his neck as he weakly walked over, looking at Rory with genuine sincerity.

"Sorry, Female Master. I scared you. I’ll go die outside right now."

Seeing him half-dead, rope still around his neck, about to head out, Rory’s eyelid started twitching violently. "Come back here. If you go hang yourself outside and scare someone else, what then?"

At that moment, Rory finally understood why the Snow Domain group had run away so fast.

Xarion stopped and turned back to her, speaking very seriously.

"Then I won’t hang myself. I’ll go jump into the lake instead. That shouldn’t scare anyone."

"There’s an artificial lake out front. I saw it earlier."

Yuel pressed his fingers to his temples, a headache brewing. "Xarion, behave yourself. If you keep fooling around and scare Rory again, I’ll have you take your dowry and roll straight back to the Snow Domain."

Rory was speechless. Was he really this eager to die?

That artificial lake was full of beautiful fish and aquatic plants that Yuel had carefully cultivated.

She absolutely wasn’t letting Xarion ruin it.

Suppressing her violently twitching eyelid, Rory said, "Xarion, how about you go back to your ice crystal coffin and sleep?"

Quietly. Peacefully.

Go lie in your coffin and don’t bother anyone—or cause trouble.

Xarion hesitated, then nodded.

"Alright."

He removed the rope from his neck and staggered back to his room, obediently returning to his ice crystal coffin to sleep.

The room Vincent had arranged for Xarion was on the first floor.

Rory watched him go in and close the door.

Everything seemed resolved—yet for some reason, her eyelid twitched even harder.

Her heart felt uneasy, as if something big was about to happen.
