ISEKAI? More like I See Crap!-Chapter 57: Trouble Over Dinner ( )
Chapter 57: Trouble Over Dinner ( 57 )
As the captured man was being dragged away, he suddenly lashed out—
BAM!
He punched one of the guards holding him, knocking the man back.
Then—
He broke into a full sprint.
"The criminal is on the loose! Capture him!"
The guards immediately chased after him.
The man gritted his teeth, cursing under his breath.
"Fuck, fuck, fuck! I have to get out of here! I must inform the lord that the girl he’s looking for is in this town!"
"That’s him! Capture him!"
The man whipped around, pulling out a hidden crossbow.
He fired.
A guard barely managed to dodge, the bolt whizzing past his face.
"That guy is dangerous! ALL GUARDS, ATTACK!"
The town guards rushed in, swords drawn.
But the man wasn’t focused on them anymore.
He scanned the crowd—searching.
Then—
His eyes locked onto her.
Ellyn.
She was sitting inside a restaurant, smiling at some random guy.
The man’s mind raced as he remembered what the lord had said.
"Kill anyone near her."
His fingers twitched.
Then—
He lunged forward, pulling out a hidden poisoned dagger.
His target?
The man who sit next to her.
Hazuki was just finishing his food order and stretching lazily.
Ellyn turned, her eyes widening in horror.
"UNCLE!!!"
Hazuki looked up.
Without even reacting to the danger, he grabbed his ale from the table.
And casually lifted his leg.
Then—
With zero effort, he brought his foot down.
SMACK!!!
The man’s head SLAMMED into the table—
The wood instantly shattered, splinters flying everywhere.
The entire restaurant fell silent.
The assassin’s body twitched once... then stopped moving.
Hazuki took a sip of his ale.
Then—
"WE’RE EATING HERE!!!"
Ellyn blinked.
The guards who had been chasing the man stopped, staring at Hazuki.
One of the guards scratched his head.
"Uh... well, that was easy."
The other guards quickly rushed in and restrained the unconscious man.
Meanwhile, Hazuki sat back down, still sipping his ale.
"Damn, can’t even eat in peace..."
Ellyn just stared at him, speechless.
Hazuki grumbled as he took another sip of his ale.
The waiter quickly brought over another table and set down a new plate of food.
Hazuki nodded in appreciation—then SLAMMED his ale mug onto the table.
"The fuck is wrong with people like this?!"
The restaurant was still silent.
The guards were hauling away the unconscious assassin.
The customers just stared.
But Hazuki?
He was too pissed off to care.
"Can’t they wait to start a fight AFTER someone finishes eating?!"
He gestured at his fresh plate of food.
"Damn, where are their manners?!"
He clicked his tongue, shaking his head in disappointment.
"Fucking retards, walking around in cloaks like they’re some kinda ikemen, all cool and handsome."
He gestured dramatically.
"’Oooooh~ I wear a cloak! I’m so mysterious! Fear me!’"
Hazuki rolled his eyes.
"Get a damn haircut, loser."
Ellyn covered her mouth, giggling.
The other customers whispered among themselves.
One of the guards passing by muttered, shaking his head.
"Damn... Wheelbarrow Guy really doesn’t give a shit, huh?"
Hazuki huffed and picked up his fork.
"Now, can I please eat in peace?!"
"Owner! More ale!"
"Coming right up!"
The restaurant quickly returned to normal.
The other customers resumed eating as if nothing had happened.
Meanwhile, Ellyn sat there, smiling and staring at Hazuki.
Hazuki felt a shiver down his spine.
"Oi. What’s with that look?"
Ellyn kept on smiling.
"Nothing~"
Hazuki narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"Ugh... whatever. Now eat your meat."
Ellyn grinned.
"Okay~"
Hazuki watched her take a big bite, then casually asked—
"How about adding some veggies?"
Ellyn immediately stopped chewing.
Then—
She turned to him, looking deeply offended.
"NO! We Catfolk don’t eat veggies! How about you eat them!?"
Hazuki scoffed.
"No way! I’m a meat eater! A meat lover!"
He proudly lifted his ale.
"And ale doesn’t go well with veggies!!"
Ellyn huffed.
"Hmph! Then don’t ask me to eat them!"
Hazuki grumbled.
"Fine! More meat, then!"
"Exactly!"
"Uncle?" Ellyn said, still chewing her meat.
Hazuki sighed, shaking his head.
"Don’t talk while eating... it’s rude."
Ellyn pouted, swallowing her bite.
"But you also talk while eating."
Hazuki raised an eyebrow.
"That’s because you were asking me something first."
He pointed at her plate.
"Now eat your food and enjoy it. Just don’t talk too much while eating."
Ellyn tilted her head.
"Oh... um... okay..."
She went back to eating, chewing happily.
Hazuki casually glanced at her.
He watched her eat, her eyes sparkling with pure enjoyment.
For some reason...
Seeing her so happy made him feel—
A little happy, too.
Then—
He froze mid-bite.
His entire body stiffened.
His mind screamed.
"CRAP!! WHAT’S HAPPENING TO YOU, HAZUKI!?"
"You’re not into kids!!!"
"THAT’S A CRIME!!!"
He violently shook his head, gripping his mug.
"Nope. Nope. NOPE. Not thinking about it. No way. Nope."
Ellyn looked up, confused.
"Hmm? Uncle, what’s wrong?"
Hazuki quickly shoved more meat into his mouth.
"Nuffin!!! Eat!!!"
Ellyn blinked, then shrugged, happily continuing her meal.
Meanwhile, Hazuki silently prayed to God in this world.
"PLEASE don’t let me awaken any weird flags!!!"
Ellyn giggled softly, but inside—
She felt restless.
"If one of them already found me here... then more will come."
She wasn’t just worried about herself; she was worried about Hazuki too.
But—
"If I tell him the truth now... what will happen?"
Before she could think further—
"Hmm? What are you thinking, Ellyn?"
She snapped out of her thoughts.
"Hmm? Oh, nothing, Uncle... really..."
Hazuki raised an eyebrow.
"Are you sure?"
Ellyn forced a smile.
"Yes."
"If you say so."
They both returned to their meal.
Yet—
Hazuki found himself staring at Ellyn as he ate.
Then—
"Ellyn..."
Ellyn jerked slightly, looking up in surprise.
"Y-Yes, Uncle!?" she replied, a little panicked.
Hazuki blinked at her reaction but shrugged it off.
"Do you know how to read?"
Ellyn tilted her head.
"Hmm? Yes. Why do you ask?"
Hazuki sighed.
"Nothing... just wondering why I can read the quest board, but there’s a book I can’t read at all."
Ellyn perked up.
"Oh? Let me see?"
Hazuki reached into his bag, pulling out the book the guild librarian had given him earlier.
He set it on the table.
"This one. The guild librarian said this is a book on how to control mana."
Ellyn didn’t reach for the book just yet. Instead, she looked at Hazuki curiously.
"Oh... why do you want to learn such a basic thing?"
Hazuki shrugged.
"Nothing. Just curious. And of course, if everyone has magic, then I want to use it too."
Ellyn smiled, but her ears twitched slightly.
"Hmm? Not everyone can use magic, Uncle."
Hazuki paused.
"Huh? What do you mean?"
Ellyn giggled.
"Everyone has basic control of mana, but most people can only use magic at a very basic level."
She tapped her finger against the table.
"Only certain talented ones can really use magic."
Hazuki leaned back in his chair, rubbing his chin.
"So... you’re saying I might just be one of those people who can’t use magic?"
Ellyn smiled sweetly.
"Maybe~"
Hazuki groaned.
"Damn it... I knew this world was unfair..."
