Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 76: Exposing Scammers on Live Stream
She had never livestreamed before. This account was newly registered by Riley Perry, and with the camera facing outward, no one knew it was her on the stream.
"I had a busy day, and I was planning to treat myself to a nice meal after work. But then I got a sudden phone call. Something about what the person said felt off—it reeked of a scam. So, I decided to check it out for myself."
Just then, a young woman in her twenties came out to greet them. "Miss Perry, Minister Hughes is waiting for you in the private room. Please, follow me."
Live Chat: The streamer’s last name is Perry? You don’t hear that one often.
Are we really about to expose a scammer? This isn’t just clickbait, is it?
Riley Perry: "Alright. Please lead the way."
Soon, the three of them entered the private room where seven men and one woman were seated. There were also two video cameras set up in the room. Riley Perry’s eyes glinted. ’They’ve certainly prepared everything. Are they really this brazen?’
Seeing her enter, the man in the host’s seat smiled. "Come, sit, Miss Perry. We’ve all been waiting for you."
The young assistant quickly introduced him to Riley Perry. "This is our Minister Hughes."
She then introduced the others at the table—all of them managers for the ad campaign. The other woman present was the makeup artist.
Riley Perry was shown to a seat next to Minister Hughes, while Rocco sat down next to the female makeup artist.
Right away, Minister Hughes poured Riley Perry a glass of wine. Rocco wasn’t spared either. "Come on, come on, we’re about to be partners. Let’s have a drink to celebrate first."
Riley Perry looked at the glass of doctored red wine in front of her and smiled. "So, Minister Hughes, have you already decided to sign the contract with me?"
"I invited you here today so we could get to know each other first. As long as there are no problems when we test the product later, we’ll sign on the spot. Look, I’ve even brought the contract."
As he spoke, he actually produced a contract and placed it in front of Riley Perry. She picked it up and flipped through it; the official seal was already stamped. ’Excellent. Another crime to add to their list.’
Riley Perry’s livestream now had over seventy viewers. Someone posted a comment: [Is this a beauty streamer? Looks like she’s about to push some products.]
[Isn’t this a bait-and-switch?]
[Eh, you can just not buy it, right?]
Riley Perry smiled. "It seems I have to drink this wine, then."
"Come on, let’s toast together. To our successful partnership ahead."
Rocco shot Riley Perry a look. ’This wine is definitely spiked! You can’t drink it!’
The next second, Riley Perry raised her glass, clinked it against Minister Hughes’s, and calmly downed the entire glass of wine without leaving a single drop.
A smile immediately spread across Minister Hughes’s face. He then urged Rocco, "Go on and drink, little brother. Miss Perry already drank hers. You’re not going to disrespect me like that, are you?"
Rocco could tell that if he didn’t drink the wine, the two men beside him were ready to force it down his throat. He decided to just drink it.
He downed the glass.
People in the live chat were starting to get suspicious: [Something feels off here. None of the people at this table look like good guys!]
[It’s just a drink. Isn’t this totally normal at a business dinner?]
[I have a bad feeling something’s about to happen. I’m gonna get my dad to watch. He’s a veteran cop; he’s got a sharp eye for this stuff!]
[That voice sounds vaguely familiar for some reason, but I can’t be sure.]
[I’m going to get this a link on the homepage so more people can see it.]
[Whoa! We’ve got a platform staffer hiding in the chat. And probably a high-ranking one.]
Visibly, everyone in the room relaxed. Their gazes grew more and more unrestrained. Riley Perry’s eyes looked hazy and her head seemed heavy. "I... I feel so dizzy. You... you drugged the wine."
Minister Hughes burst out laughing. He glanced at Rocco, who was already slumped over the table, and gloated, "That’s right! We put in a little something that will make you delirious with pleasure."
The viewers in the livestream all panicked: [Holy shit! The streamer’s in trouble, someone call the cops!]
[Does anyone know which hotel this is?]
[I know, I know! It’s The Sunstone Resort in Dragonspire.]
[Called the cops!]
[We’re screwed, it’s over. There are seven guys there! Even if the cops were called, they won’t get there in time.]
Riley Perry clutched her head, her hazy eyes fixed on Hubert Hughes. "Why are you doing this to me? As far as I know, I’ve never offended you. I don’t even know you people."
"You don’t need to know why. All you need to know is that in a minute, the guys and I are going to make you deliriously happy."
As he spoke, the men started to circle toward Riley Perry. The other woman had already gone to turn on the cameras. Riley watched Hubert Hughes’s groping hand reach for her and threatened, "Don’t come any closer, or I’ll fight back!"
Hubert Hughes paid her no mind at all, reaching straight for Riley Perry’s chest with both hands. Riley’s eyes narrowed. She snatched a chopstick from the table and stabbed it down into the back of Hubert Hughes’s hand.
The next second, a bloodcurdling scream echoed through the private room. The chopstick had pierced clean through Hubert Hughes’s hand, and blood quickly began to ooze out.
This scene didn’t just shock everyone in the room; the viewers in the livestream were also badly shaken!
[Heavens, what did I just see?]
[To stab through a hand just like that... she must have had training, right?]
[Oh my god, who IS this Miss Perry? She’s blowing my mind!]
But an even more shocking scene was yet to come.
"Riley Perry, you dare to attack me?! What are you all staring at? Get her!
Beat her half to death, then take turns on her! HISSS—I swear I’m going to fucking kill her today!"
[Riley Perry? Is that THE Riley Perry I’m thinking of?]
[Damn it, no wonder the voice sounded so familiar! It’s our Riley! I’m calling for backup!]
Soon, the number of viewers in the livestream skyrocketed, quickly reaching five digits.
Hubert Hughes’s men finally reacted, rushing toward Riley Perry. These were all street thugs who knew how to fight—not the kind of job an ordinary person would take. But the girl they thought would be an easy target delivered a heavy blow.
Riley Perry showed no mercy with her hands—no, she showed no mercy with her feet. With one kick, she sent Hubert Hughes flying.
Hubert Hughes, who had already been stabbed with a chopstick, was now sent flying by a kick. He crashed to the ground, his face twisted in a pained grimace.
The others, not expecting Riley Perry to be so strong and ruthless, simply pulled out weapons. Riley saw one man pull out a cleaver, and now she held back even less. She grabbed the man’s wrist and, with a sharp twist, a sickening CRACK of breaking bone echoed out. "AHH—!"
CLANG! The cleaver hit the floor. The next second, a kick to his groin sent the man to the ground, writhing in pain and completely incapacitated.
One who thought he was clever tried to grab Riley from behind. But, as if she had eyes in the back of her head, Riley grabbed a chair and swung it backward before he could. The man was sent flying, slammed into the wall, and fell heavily to the floor, knocked out cold.
The remaining men decided to just attack all at once, since they stood no chance against her one-on-one.
But this was Riley Perry they were dealing with. She didn’t even need to use proper techniques; she took them all down with sheer brute force, leaving them in a miserable state.
For a moment, the private room was a chaotic scene of flying cups and bowls. Tables and chairs were shattered. The sounds of crashing objects and miserable howls filled the air.
