Chapter 70: From Yumia to Lucia ( 70 )
Mrs. Faria smiled, watching Ellyn with knowing eyes.
"Why do you want keep that appearance, my lady?"
Ellyn turned away slightly, avoiding her gaze.
"...Nothing."
Mrs. Faria chuckled softly.
"You know, you don’t have to. You could just be yourself—your true form."
She gestured slightly.
"Your real, grown-up body."
Ellyn sighed, leaning back against the seat.
"I will... once we reach our kingdom."
Mrs. Faria nodded knowingly.
"If you say so, my lady."
Ellyn glanced out the window.
The familiar sights of Yumia Town were growing smaller in the distance.
At last—
Her mission was complete.
Even if someone tried to kidnap her now...
Even if they locked her away...
No one would ever be able to take her special ability for themselves.
Not anymore.
Not after the pinky promise.
She smiled to herself.
No matter what happened—
Hazuki was the only one who could ever receive her power.
Mrs. Faria sighed, watching Ellyn closely.
"My lady..."
Ellyn turned toward her.
"Yes, Mrs. Faria?"
"I wonder... what would the king say if he knew that your future husband is a human?"
Ellyn paused for a moment, then smiled.
"I don’t know..."
She gently touched the pinky promise ring on her finger.
"But the Absolute Eye has never been wrong before."
Mrs. Faria chuckled.
"That’s true."
Ellyn looked out the window again, her smile unwavering.
Whatever reaction awaited her at the kingdom—
It didn’t matter.
Because her fate was already decided.
Meanwhile in Yumia Town,
Hazuki squatted in front of the river, staring at his reflection.
He sighed dramatically.
"Damn... if only that kiss happened when Ellyn was an adult..."
The one from his dream—the gorgeous, mature catgirl.
"Eight more years, huh...?"
Hazuki grinned, his expression shifting instantly.
"Heh... well, at least this pinky promise isn’t so bad."
His smile widened.
"Once she turns into an adult... I’ll have a beautiful catgirl wife! Oh yeah!!!"
He threw his fists into the air in celebration.
The surrounding people, who had been peacefully enjoying the riverside, all turned to stare at him.
Some of them whispered.
Some just slowly stepped away.
A mother covered her child’s ears.
A group of adventurers glanced at each other, concerned.
"That guy again... wasn’t he the one who pushed a giant rabbit through town?"
Hazuki felt their judging gazes piercing through him.
He cleared his throat and quickly stood up.
"A-Anyway! No use staying in this town anymore!"
He patted his small bag, then casually walked off toward the public carriage station.
Once there—
"Yo! This carriage, where’s it headed?"
The driver, an old man chewing on a piece of straw, glanced up.
"Lucia Town. One day’s journey."
Hazuki tilted his head.
"Oh! Human town?"
"Yep."
"Nice. How much?"
"One silver coin."
Hazuki grinned, tossing the coin over.
"Alright!"
He hopped onto the carriage, placing his small bag on one of the seats.
Then—
He stretched outside, taking in the fresh air.
The driver looked at him lazily.
"We’ll be moving in an hour. If you need to pee or something, better do it now."
Hazuki nodded.
"Nah, I’m gonna get some coffee and food first!"
Then—
He happily walked off, ignoring the stares still lingering on him.
A beautiful future was waiting for him.
And until then—
He would enjoy the journey.
Hazuki strolled around the area near the carriage, hands in his pockets.
He wasn’t too worried about his bag.
After all—
Who would want to steal it?
Inside were only his cheap, worn-out clothes from the capital, his still-unwashed shirts, and his rugged old towel.
If anything—
The thief would probably return it out of disgust.
"Damn, I wish they had smokes in this world."
He exhaled in frustration, looking around.
Then—
His eyes landed on something.
A man leaning against a wooden post, casually exhaling a puff of smoke.
Hazuki’s eyes widened.
"Yo!"
The man looked up lazily.
"Huh?"
Hazuki pointed at the thing in his mouth.
"Where can I buy those?!"
The man blinked.
"This?"
"Yeah, the tobacco!"
The man tilted his head.
"Ta... bay... ko?"
"Ah, nothing—what is that?"
The man chuckled and held it up.
"This? It’s just dried herb."
"Herb?"
"Yeah. We roll it and smoke it. Helps relax the body."
Hazuki raised an eyebrow.
"So... like a cigarette?"
The man shrugged.
"Dunno what that is, but this stuff’s been around for ages."
Hazuki grinned.
"Ohhh, I see... where can I buy some?"
The man smirked.
"You a first-timer? Be careful, though. It’s not just for relaxing."
"What do you mean?"
"This stuff heals minor wounds. Speeds up recovery, too."
Hazuki froze.
"Wait... you’re telling me this is a healing cigarette?!"
The man gave him a weird look.
"A... what?"
Hazuki clutched his head.
"Isekai logic is so damn weird!!!"
Hazuki keep staring at the thing.
"Damn! Let me buy those!"
The man smirked.
"Sure. Five copper each." freewebnøvel.com
"Wait, you’re selling?"
"Yeah."
"Damn, gimme five!"
The man held out his palm.
"That’ll be 25 copper."
Hazuki grumbled but handed over the coins.
"This little thing costs the same as a cheap meal..."
The man shrugged.
"Well, enjoy."
Hazuki rolled one between his fingers, then paused.
"Errr... can I borrow a fire?"
The man gave him a weird look.
"Huh? You can’t use magic?"
"Errr..."
"Haaah... fine. Here."
The man flicked his thumb, summoning a small flame.
Hazuki leaned in, lighting the end of his new "healing cigarette."
He took a deep drag—
"Uhuk! UUUHUUUKK! UGH!! DAMN IT, THIS IS BITTER!!!"
The man burst into laughter.
"PFFFT—HAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Hazuki gritted his teeth, trying to act cool, but his eyes were watering.
"The hell is this taste?!"
The man patted his shoulder, still laughing.
"Welcome to the world of real smoking, newbie."
Hazuki kept inhaling the smoke, getting used to the taste.
Then—
"Wooo! This is good!"
He grinned, exhaling slowly as he walked back toward the carriage.
The soft, herbal scent lingered in the air—but surprisingly, no one seemed to mind.
Hazuki climbed up onto the carriage, still puffing on his new "healing cigarette."
"Man... this is nice—"
Then—
His vision swayed slightly.
His body felt light.
"Wooo... why does my head feel so damn high?!"
The passenger next to him chuckled.
"First time, huh?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"This stuff has a mild mana-stimulation effect. Makes your body feel light, like floating."
Hazuki froze.
"Wait... WAIT! YOU’RE TELLING ME I JUST BOUGHT A MAGIC DRUG?!"
The other passengers turned to stare at him.
The man just laughed.
The carriage driver clapped his hands, getting everyone’s attention.
"Alright, everyone! Check your things and make sure you’re ready!"
He climbed onto the driver’s seat, adjusting the reins.
"The carriage will be moving in the next five minutes!"
Hazuki was leaning back, a goofy grin on his face.
His head felt light, his body relaxed.
"Oh damn~ my head feels so light~"
He let out a slow exhale, the last wisps of smoke fading into the air.
His body slumped against the carriage wall.
His eyes drooped.
And just like that—
He slowly drifted to sleep.
The other passengers glanced at him.
One of them shook his head.
"First-timers always get like that."
The driver chuckled, snapping the reins.
The carriage jerked forward, rolling out of Yumia Town.
Hazuki—completely unaware—was now on his way to Lucia Town.
Meanwhile—
A mysterious figure stood in the distance, watching the departing carriage.
His expression was unreadable.
The smoke in his hand slowly burned, releasing a faint herbal scent into the air.
He exhaled, smirking slightly.
"Good luck, Hazuki."
He took another slow drag, his eyes never leaving the carriage.
"Don’t worry..."
His smirk widened.
"We’ll meet again soon."
The wind picked up, carrying the smoke away as he vanished into the shadows.
