Chapter 64: Leonidas Moonvale

"W-who are you?" Michael uttered in a fearful voice, abruptly turning around. "How did you know my name?" He asked.

Dorian smirked, "Shut the fuck up, worm." He said in a condescending voice.

Michael’s eyes slowly widened with shock. His gaze lost focus on Dorian, instead staring into nothing specific.

His jaw felt tight, and when he tried to speak, he could not move his mouth. He attempted to move his body, but he quickly found that he had already lost all control.

And then, it hit him. A wave of fear that felt like a tiger had clutched his jugular vein.

The word "defeat" summoned all around him in bloody text, causing his knees to buckle and fold. He fell onto his rear, continuing to imagine these words in the air when they never really existed in the first place.

Dorian walked over to the boy tied up on the wooden board.

’Hmm... there is more to this boy than what meets the eye. Even I underestimated him at first. His soul is almost... unreadable.’ Dorian thought to himself, standing before the young boy.

’I wouldn’t meddle with things like saving others, but since he has potential, I’ll free him,’ Dorian said inwardly.

"Hold it right there..." Michael had somehow found the courage to speak.

Dorian turned, noticing a red aura oozing out of the young man’s body and floating a couple of inches into the air before dissipating.

"Oh? So your ability allows you to put the souls of those from the demon world into not just the bodies of others, but also yourself?" Dorian quickly surmised, seeing the red energy.

Michael smirked, "Exactly." He seemed confident.

However, Dorian didn’t seem impressed whatsoever.

"And unfortunately for you, I have the strongest one of them all within me." Michael’s smirk curved higher with satisfaction, seeing Dorian not retort yet.

"Impossible." Dorian immediately said, "Anyways... I’m not too bothered about you. It seems your ability is weak, since even children with strong wills can overcome it."

He turned, facing the young boy on the board.

’In truth... Michael’s ability is powerful. He doesn’t have the king of hell inside of him like he claims, but he definitely has a high-ranking demon. I think Stars will have some fun dealing with him in the future.’ Dorian thought, swiping his hand across the air.

The chains and ropes tying the young boy to the wooden board were cut free.

The boy slid down to the ground, picking himself back up and wiping the blood off his lips.

"What is your name, boy?" Dorian asked, peering down at the kid.

"My name is Leon..." The boy said in a silent voice.

"Speak your name with pride, boy." Dorian raised his voice slightly, as though a bit irritated.

The boy caught this, quickly straightening his posture.

"O-oh... um, well, it’s..." He paused, clearing his throat. "Leonidas Moonvale... that is my name." He said with a more refined tone.

"I see..." Dorian said.

A second passed, and Dorian noticed a flash of red energy travel through the boy’s pupils.

Dorian’s eyelids flew slightly wider with surprise, ’Oh?’ He then smirked, ’It looks like this boy did more than just fight off that demon that was trying to possess him...’ This was all he thought to himself.

"Don’t just ignore me!" Michael abruptly shouted, "I--" He was interrupted mid-sentence.

"Why do you wish to enter the northern continent? Who told you such an idea was wise?" Dorian turned and inquired at that moment.

Michael was taken aback for a second, but couldn’t find the anger or the will to ignore Dorian’s question.

"W-well... the one told me. The one inside of my body... he told me that in the north, his power will grow. If I can take over the north, I can easily take over this world." Michael said with large eyes and a grin. He almost looked obsessed with the words he was saying.

"Hmm..." Dorian said, "Looks like you are a dog on a leash to all those around you... even the one inside of you."

"W-what?" Michael was thrown off, his smile turning to a frown.

"It might be interesting to see what you can do," Dorian said, turning toward the corpses to the side. "But don’t force your way there in such a vile manner. To do so is to accept that you are weak."

"What are you talking about?" Michael asked, confused.

Dorian stared him directly in the eyes.

"I don’t like men who force their way onto women. Not because it’s the strong praying on the weak... but because a man should know how to court a woman using his own intellect and charm. Only men meant to live low lives of peasantry believe otherwise." These were Dorian’s last words before walking out of the cavern. He did so nonchalantly, and Michael was unable to stop him.

He could move, but he decided to give in to his cowardice and not risk fighting someone who could make him feel the way that Dorian did just a second ago.

The young boy, Leon (Leonidas), also followed Dorian out without a word.

Michael could only stand there and watch as the two left. He ground his teeth with anger, ’Argh... fucking bastards. Who the hell was that guy anyway? I’m still weak in this world, it seems. But as soon as I fish up a demon from the abyss that is as strong as my own, I can use it to dominate anyone I want. Unfortunately, I can’t use my own demon to its fullest extent, since it would most likely consume me...’ He thought.

Outside of the cavern, Dorian and Leon split paths.

After a second, however, Dorian turned.

’His soul had so much ambition that it somehow consumed the demon instead of the other way around.’ He said to himself, quite impressed.

Leon sniffled, tears trickling down his cheeks. It seemed he was thinking of what had just occurred and was still in the process of taking it all in.

’I swore to avenge them... and I will die trying.’ He thought, clenching his fists, ’But...’ He paused inwardly, the most painful part of his thoughts finally hitting him. ’How?’ Tears formed in his eyes at an even more accelerated pace as he asked this question to himself.

"Oi!" Dorian shouted, his hands in his pockets as he held a casual stance.

"Huh?" Leon turned, wiping the tears off his face. "Yes, mister?"

"You want to know a way to get vengeance, right?" Dorian calmly asked.

Leon’s eyes flew open, "Yes!" He shouted without hesitation, "I want that more than anything else in the world!"

Dorian smirked, "Head to Demadur Island. You will find your starry path there." He said before turning, "Also... stop being such a goody-two-shoes. A world where power dominates does not treat those who are pleasers nicely." These were his final words to Leon before exiting the scene.
