Island God: Going From Level 1 To World Ruler-Chapter 65: Intriguing News
Leon was stunned by Dorian’s words, frozen with confusion.
More than anything... he felt a mountain of gratitude.
’I was so stuck thinking about what that horrible man did to my parents, I forgot to acknowledge the fact that I am alive right now because of that man...’ Leon thought to himself, staring at Dorian’s back as he walked away.
’I must trust him. He saved my life... the least I could do is follow his words.’ Unbeknownst to Leon, he was convinced to follow Dorian’s words also because the man had filled the hole in his heart.
The hopelessness Leon felt from not knowing what path to choose to avenge his parents was the part that made him feel the most worthless.
Now, however, Dorian had filled that patch. Who knew if this was the right path... it was a path regardless.
’I will find my starry path, huh? I wonder what he meant by that... starry.’ Leon shrugged this thought off as he turned and exited the scene as well.
Regardless of what it meant, he was sure he would find out eventually once he arrived at Demadur Island.
Currently, Dorian’s mind was strung on a separate issue.
’It seems the southern half of the world may be in danger in the future.’ Dorian said to himself. ’If more Player’s get the idea of venturing to the north, it may become an actual issue. Not many probably know what lies dormant there except for a few other ancient souls on Fell-Terra, so the issue could get out of hand quickly.’
Although his thoughts reflected worry, he was actually smiling. In truth, he wasn’t at all concerned.
’Interesting... how amusing. I wonder how it will all turn out. I wonder if that man was right all along.’ Dorian said inwardly before chuckling to himself, ’What am I thinking. Of course he was right.’
Dorian had made his way back into the city. He walked to the closest tavern, planning on staying for a night before leaving the very next morning to go to his next desired location.
The tavern stood like a tourist site, tall and confidently presenting itself on the corner of a busy street.
The windows were red and made to resemble the number eight or two circles stack atop each other.
The door was a small double door with loose hinges.
Once he arrived at the tavern, however, an odd detail in the atmosphere caught his attention.
For the most part, it was a normal inn. A bar was the first thing you saw when you entered, and the rest of the room was filled with a buzzy crowd of drunk men and women.
Chairs and tables were scattered throughout. The air was of a light brown hue. It smelled like a mix of grape alcohol and the aroma of freshly cooked meat.
One could barely hear what the person beside them was saying due to the commotion and laughter.
However, Dorian could hear each conversation and thought clearly.
Oddly, the resounding topic of conversation seemed to be about one specific topic.
"Are you serious!? When is it happening?"
"It’s already happening huh?"
"I wonder what this means for the remainder of the game."
"Will more be hosted across fell Terra?"
"It was leaked? How!?" 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Early information, huh? Hahaha!"
"Hell yeah, I’m going! Why wouldn’t I? What if I win and get a life-changing prize!?"
People barked in drunken laughter.
Dorian walked to the back and grabbed a stool at the bar table.
As he did this, he continued hearing the noise.
"What!? Multiple Players will probably be gunning for it once it’s announced worldwide!"
"Yeah, that’s way too dangerous."
"But we have a Player too, right!? We should join the battle!"
With this much conversation revolving around the same subject, Dorian decided to ask what it was all about.
He could read thoughts, but not intentions or subconscious feelings. Only what people directly said in their heads.
"Can I help you, sir?" A young lady behind the bar table leaned over and asked Dorian a simple question.
Dorian glanced at her, the eye contact making the lady immediately blush.
"What is everyone going on about? This... event." Dorian asked, his voice deep and masculine.
"O-oh!" The lady snapped up, placing her hands in front of her before beginning to speak. One could tell that she was clearly blushing from nervousness.
Dorian wasn’t phased. He knew how handsome he was; there was no shame in it. Since he hadn’t aged, he was still in his prime in terms of looks.
Of course, most women were bound to adore him... he couldn’t help it, and he was used to it anyways.
"News has been spreading that The Game will host its first-ever major worldwide event. A challenge amongst Players and all else who desire conquest. Something of the sort would be broadcast by the game itself, but for some reason, knowledge of its existence has seemed to have been spread throughout Meniras by an unknown entity." The young lady said with a polite tone.
"Is that so..." Dorian nonchalantly said, "Do you know more details of the description of the challenge?" He asked.
"Mmhmm... It’s a game that will allegedly be hosted in the peninsula of Ygnahril. Thats right, only a few hundred miles south of our own kingdom. That means that the game will be hosted under our jurisdiction. It rewards a Player based on the amount of land they have control over. I heard something about claiming zones and whatnot, but not too much more than that." The young lady said in a soft voice.
"I see... thank you for telling me," Dorian said, his eyecontact unwavering.
The young lady felt a surge of blood rush to her face. "O-of course! It was my pleasure, sir."
Dorian stood, placing a gold coin atop the table, "Give me a room for tonight." He sized the woman up and down with his pupils, "A room for two."
