Island God: Going From Level 1 To World Ruler-Chapter 98: Oga Caverns (Episode 4)
***EXTRA LONG Chapter***
"What’s that noise?" A goblin walking along the street stopped to observe the loud hum.
All other bystanders around him were also frozen. They looked around, as if to identify the noise.
"It’s the communal gong!" A goblin suddenly shouted, "We must enter the audience halls! It seems the king has requested a complete audience from his town!"
"W-what!?"
"Must we go!"
"We have to!"
Word quickly spread around the cove.
"Hurry!" Goblins said as they began sprinting toward the audience halls.
Lines of goblins numbering in the dozens soon turned to hundreds as they all poured into the coliseum.
The entrance was overwhelmed almost instantly as goblins began forming body-ladders and climbing up the edges of the massive establishment to enter.
"W-what have you done?!" Juuo rose up from his seat again and slammed his hands against the railing of his stand. He was furious. "Why have you summoned the city here!?"
Gool smirked, "I want to talk to the best representative of this city!" He shouted. "Clearly, it’s not you. And since there is no one else, the city itself will have to suffice." He didn’t care to talk out of line now.
After all, the king didn’t matter now.
He was going to go try to overthrow the king in a few seconds, so it made no difference.
If he was going to die here due to being captured by goblin forces who decided to listen to their original king, it was going to happen whether he acted nicely or meanly now.
Soon enough, hordes of goblins began filling the seats. They came from several side entrances and also over the walls, pouring in like ants to a nest.
Within ten minutes, over a thousand goblins were present before Gool, Yemo, and Juuo.
More than that, however, hundreds of goblins were on the edges of the building. Since there were no more seats left and even the aisles were taken up, the last of the goblins to show up had made themselves comfortable wherever they could.
"Greetings, everyone!" Gool shouted, his hands raised to the sides as he walked closer to the center of the arena floor.
Everyone’s attention was captured by him. Nearly, that is.
"Silence, rubbish!" Juuo’s voice overwhelmed Gool’s, all eyes pointing toward him instead.
"I did not summon you all here! This miscreant has used the sacred communal gong without my permission!" The king immediately shouted with disdain, "Don’t think you will escape easily from this, Gool! Both you and your odd-looking friend will be tied up and skinned!"
Gool and Yemo’s expressions remained stone cold.
The audience began to murmur with shock in reaction to these words.
"What?"
"Are you serious?"
"Did we come here for nothing then?"
"Tsk... I was busy doing important things!"
...
"Who gives a damn what you have to say!?" Gool retorted out of nowhere. His words were so obscene and dramatic that everyone’s attention was once again swayed over to him.
Juuo only looked on with shock, unable to believe what this goblin was doing.
’What in the world is wrong with him? Has he truly lost his mind?’ Juuo thought, perplexed.
"Look at my face! I’m sure that at least one person in all of your families has seen it once! I am Gool, the one who has traveled this island more than any other being!" Gool established himself, "I have come here today for a grand reason. One that requires the attention of all goblin kin!"
Hearing his name increased the population’s will to listen to him, but only slightly. Still, it was enough for him to say a few more words while the spotlight was on him.
"The reason why Oga Town prospers today is not because of a foolish king like Juuo!" He pointed at the royal stand. "Instead, it is because a new ruler has descended upon Demadur Island. In fact, its name has now changed to Star Island!"
"W-what did you just say!" A goblin retorted, at a loss.
"Is he serious!?"
"I haven’t heard of anything like that."
"When did this happen?"
Gool smirked, pausing for a second. Even Juuo did not interrupt.
The king had convinced himself that he was the reason behind his town’s success, but deep down, he was not sure. Deep down, he was enjoying his life and wanted it to stay this way.
However, the true reason behind the success of his town was obviously aloof to him as well.
"This island has been overtaken by Midas Kyrios Stars, one of many players who have descended onto Fell-Terra, but the highest form of leader you have yet to encounter!"
Gasps reverberated through the coliseum. Juuo was at a loss.
"From Sergalas, the almighty Water Drake, to the mosquitoes of the Jzzri Mountains, and the horrible orcs of the Karak-O mountain range... this entire realm has surrendered unto his glorious name!" Gool’s voice rang loud like an alarm bell.
"Lies!" Juuo’s voice interrupted, as if to not let Gool’s words settle. "This fiend simply wishes to overthrow me! To use this bluff as an excuse to tarnish my accomplishments and become king himself! Who would believe such an outlandish vomit of information? My people are not so easily scared!" He shouted angrily.
The crowd looked to be slightly split up. It was understandable, since the truth was still up in the air. Without solid evidence of anything, no one knew what to believe.
"Hmph." Gool smiled, "While it is true that I wish to be a goblin that one day unites all the races of our kin as one... I have not come here today to establish myself as king. I am simply here to spread what is my master’s mercy. You see, if you all do not bow from my kind words, you will surely bow from the might of his iron fist!" He shouted with a sharp tone.
Juuo felt like he had been slapped across the face.
’D-damn it! Does this player really exist? Midas, huh... if he really controls the orcs and so on, I stand no chance. But... I can’t allow this bastard to steal away my life so easily,’ He mused inwardly.
"Do not believe his lies." Juuo’s tone was low this time. "You have no proof, nor credibility. Why should my people listen to your words? After all, I have made their lives better manyfold!"
The crowd looked over at their king. They didn’t trust Gool, but they knew that under Juuo, their lives had certainly improved.
Yemo looked over at Gool.
’Are you going to let him lie like this? It’s more than just lying... he is selfishly putting his people under his foot for his own gain.’ The tall goblin thought to himself.
"I did everything for them! Their mouths are fed due to me!"
As Juuo continued, his words seemed to sway the crowd.
"Their children live under peaceful conditions and don’t die of disease! Their lives no longer reek of blood, but rather, communion and the growth of our skillsets, how it always should have been!" Juuo roared. "Who are you to take that away from me!? From them!?"
At that moment, Yemo reached his tipping point.
He squeezed both fists as he stared at Gool.
’Say something! Say something to the bastard! Enough of this diplomatic rubbish. Don’t let this false leader pretend he is a righteous and good goblin!’ He thought with anger.
He wanted more than anything for Gool to speak, but for some reason, Gool’s expression was shadowed, and his mouth was silent.
’Argh!’ Yemo grunted inwardly with anger, opening his mouth to speak as his eyes darted to the goblins all around him.
’I’ll tell them how it is! I’ll tell them that they deserve a better leader. A leader like me!’ Yemo thought for a split second.
When he opened his mouth to speak, however, he flinched. He saw the eyes of the goblins in the seats.
They were... somber.
They looked over at Juuo as if they believed the things that he had done. Yet, there was something else. A feeling of wanting to escape could be sensed by a mere glance alone.
’These people... they almost seem like they would rather live worse lives than have Juuo as their king. I don’t think any of them believe he is the reason for the town’s success. They are almost looking for a reason to not believe him. But without being presented the opportunity to do so, they feel trapped.’ Understanding this, Yemo’s throat closed up.
To be able to spark life into the entire race of goblins before him... it was not an easy task.
It was overwhelming, in fact. Yemo suddenly felt like he was attempting to reason with a dragon far larger than him.
’W-what would I tell them?’ He mused, at a loss. His brain spun at a thousand miles per hour.
Would he tell them that they deserve better? Would he tell them that he would lead them? That he would make their dreams come true? That under him, all goblins would be happy?
Just what would he tell them!?
Just as Yemo’s brain reached the tipping point of distress, he saw Gool’s hands move slightly, distracting him for a split second.
"Don’t you dare destroy the lives of my fellow goblin kin only to benefit yours, you fat bastard!" Gool’s voice suddenly rang out like a lion’s roar, capturing the attention of everyone once again.
Yemo glanced at Gool, his eyes widening with shock.
For the first time, he saw Gool’s fists balled, and his teeth clenched. He was seething with hatred and anger.
Seeing this, Yemo was taken aback.
’He... is speaking from the heart. He didn’t have to think about it... No, why would he? He is talking... simply due to his own feelings about the situation.’ Yemo thought.
