Island God: Going From Level 1 To World Ruler-Chapter 99: Oga Caverns (Episode 5)
Yemo was awestruck at what he was seeing.
"How dare you say you have fed them! All you have fed is yourself, you obese grub!" Gool said as the crowd followed him.
He made his way to the very center of the large arena. Yemo didn’t follow him this time. Gool was completely alone, all the spotlight on him.
"These mouths... they need to be fed. These minds of our kin... they are most definitely in need of being used and trained! To develop skillsets is the reason why goblins exist!" Gool’s passion could be heard in his voice.
His charisma captured everyone’s will, as though the goblins were drawn toward him due to his intention alone.
"Listen to me... my fellow goblins. I need you all to put your trust in me. I will not allow any of you to lose these luxuries which this coward pretends he gave you. No... If you follow me, these luxuries will only expand!" Gool’s hopeful eyes lead the powerful words coming out of his mouth.
Then, he glanced at Juuo as if the king had slain his family.
"You hold a grand position, Juuo. One that allows you to control the lives of many goblins. Why use it only for your own gain? Why not make the lives of all goblins better?" His questions were serious yet sincere.
’Wow...’ A goblin in the stands thought, ’He really has a good heart.’
’He is speaking with a great intention!’ Another mused.
’He really means to help us.’
’Gool... the wise goblin.’
’He sounds like a true leader.’
’I wonder if I can trust him... If I can join him!’
...
’He...’ Yemo was taken aback with admiration and shock, ’He is fucking cool!’ He yelled inwardly.
"Juuo!" Gool shouted, pointing a finger at the fat king. "Your time has passed!" He said, his expression stoic and calm. He reached into his side pocket and retrieved what looked to be a small rag filled with a dark red powder.
He threw the pouch at Juuo with full force. As it traveled, it released a shower of Blood Essence dust...
Juuo flinched with fear, stumbling backwards.
However, the bag landed atop Juuo’s stand.
"You missed! You missed me, you fool! Whatever that was, it won’t do anythi--" Juuo was abruptly cut off.
"Shad’ up!" Gool yelled, his pointer finger still aimed right at Juuo. He retracted his finger, opening his palm to reveal a flint and steel set hidden within.
"What I have thrown into the air is a combustible powder. All I need to do is set it ablaze from where I currently stand, and you will go up in flames. So... what is your call, king?" Gool mocked the goblin with a snarky tone.
"W-wha--" Juuo couldn’t even talk. As he saw the red powder covering the air before him as it fell, he found it difficult to breathe.
’I-it must be true...’ He thought, his eyes darting around, ’No! It’s a bluff!’ He said to himself, but then his eyes locked onto Gool’s.
Gool was... a statue. His expression was unwavering. There was no doubt in his mind, nor was there any fear.
It was like he was waiting to light a spark at any moment, completely uncaring about whether Juuo died or not.
’He’s not lying!’ Juuo finally closed his eyes and accepted this fact, his heart beating out of his chest due to fear.
"F-fine! I surrender!" Juuo said, bowing his head as he placed both hands on the floor and showcased a fetal position.
A reverberating gasp echoed through the arena. Yemo couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
’Gool... did he plan all of this!? No... he must have been ready for all outcomes. He thought this through way more than I did...’ He thought, at a loss.
Gool smirked, his eyes darting over to the two lady goblins in the booth with Juuo.
They were both frightened since the very beginning of Gool and Juuo’s talk. And now, they were cowering in the corner for their lives.
He made eye contact with both of them, nodding his head to the left and gesturing for them to leave.
They didn’t hesitate, immediately evacuating the scene.
"Well... It’s great that you surrendered, Juuo. But there isn’t any need for you to be around any longer. You’ve done quite enough." Gool said nonchalantly.
"What!?" Juuo raised his head. But by then, all he could see in front of him was a wall of combusting fire.
A blast echoed through the entire cavern as Gool lit the Blood Essence powder. The powder was immediately lit. It began to get swallowed by flame until it reached Juuo’s stand.
The entire booth was engulfed in flame almost immediately.
Juuo’s loud screams were quickly muffled as he was engulfed by the blaze and silenced.
Gool glanced around the crowd.
At first, everyone looked shocked. But then, silence ensued. No one screamed or had a horrified reaction.
However, they weren’t fully secure either.
’I killed a leader they disliked, so they wouldn’t react. But that doesn’t mean they feel safe yet.’ Gool thought. ’Next, they will look at me.’ He said inwardly.
Just as he predicted, everyone’s eyes started to slowly gaze toward him.
"Hmph." He chuckled slightly. ’Of course, they would look over here. After all, I am the one who promised them so many things. In other words, I am the representation of their new leadership. However, they still don’t know whether or not I am trustworthy. After killing their leader, I might just claim everything I said was a lie to plot my own rise to power. They know no better.’ He said to himself, knowing this already to be a fact.
’But an easy solution to that is...’ Gool didn’t let his thought finish.
"Don’t worry! All I said is still true. There is no reason for me to lie now that Juuo is dead. So, me being confident in what I said should be enough for you all to trust me, at least for now." Gool had a kind smile on his face.
He knew that his reasoning was good.
"T-thank you!" A young boy from the crowd shouted, his eyes filled with tears. "Thank you for getting rid of that horrible goblin!"
Gool and Yemo were a bit thrown off as countless words of gratitude began to fill the air.
"You saved us then!"
"You have done well!"
"We are free from his rule!"
Goblins jumped up and down in celebration, embracing one another and crying till their hearts’ content.
Gool turned to face Yemo, "Jeez... looks like they had it rougher than we could have imagined." He chuckled.
Yemo smiled. "Thankfully, you saved them from that fate." He said, walking forward.
"Hmm? Oh... I guess I did, huh?" Gool said, as though oblivious. "I was just trying to recruit them for Lord Midas, of course."
