John Wicked: Endlessly Evolving My Pet Monsters-Chapter 12: Secret Area, Surprise
Chapter 12 - Secret Area, Surprise
After walking for a kilometer deep into the Silver Hill Spring area, Max stopped at a hot spring.
"This is it. It's deeper than most. Follow me."
Max jumped inside without wasting time.
Yuna and John took a deep breath and followed up, diving down speedily.
The water continued to get hotter as they went down, but by applying simple soul energy coating around their body, they felt nothing, as soul energy could provide multi-purpose resistance or enhancement to the Tamers, though it was quite wasteful to use soul energy like this, as using a suitable skill or Soul Technique was more efficient.
But this was just a quick and short dive, so it was fine. Still, the spring was quite deep, as they finally reached the underwater passage after diving almost seventy meters deep.
After entering the passage, which had several turns, they continued to swim for a bit as the passage began to rise and the water reduced.
Finally, they arrived at the cavern and saw a magical blue pond with a sparkling crystalline green-blue tree in the center, bearing four glistering red fruit with blue and green patterns.
But as they arrived, four two-meter-tall and four-meter-long giant turtles with icy-wooden shells blooming a bunch of icy-crystal flowers that spread sparkling mists around them.
"Stop here," Max spread his arm to the side as he stopped walking. "They will stay there for now, but if we get any closer, they will attack."
"That water looks sus," John narrowed his eyes. "But Pymon can take advantage of it."
Suddenly, John got a notification.
A new 100% success rate Evolution for Ravenous Hound was found. Feeding it three fruits of the Lume Glinter Tree with 20 Geno Points of Ice Flower Turtles and 20 Geno Points of Blue Blaze Fish can evolve Ravenous Hound into Netherlord Glassblaze Lupine.
'Oh? Blue Blaze Fish? I got its Geno Points!'
"My Maxon can't fight with them in that water. He is greatly restricted there," Max said as he turned to Yuna and John. "Any plan?"
"Depends on John," Yuna turned to John. "How's your bird?"
John smiled. 'Alright, I should secure two fruits first.'
"I'll kill two Ice Flower Turtles first while they are at the pond's shore, but I want two fruits."
"I don't mind," Yuna said before turning to Max. "What about you?"
Max opened his mouth and closed it. Rubbing his temples for a second, he sighed in resignation, "I wanted two since I found it, but...fine. Neither her Sun Fox can fight in there nor my Boxer King Primate."
"Good," John stepped forward while cracking his knuckles and summoned both of his Pet Monsters as they manifested before him.
"Awoo!"
"Shrill!"
The appearance of two Monsters immediately made Ice Flower Turtles wary and agitated.
Without hesitation, John clasped his palms together, his eyes slightly squinting as he gave commands.
Alfred used Crimson Swipe, unleashing three slashes at the turtles and forcing their attention before it turned into a stream of darkness and flew into the sky while moving towards the turtles.
The turtles were no pushovers as they glimmered, and an ice wall manifested, blocking the slashes of Crimson Swipe.
From above, Pymon made a move, diving straight towards the turtles from their blind spot right as they formed the ice walls.

Phantom Dive!
Pymon streaked past them underwater, putting three phantom mirages as they exploded shortly just right after Pymon burst out of the water.
The explosion disoriented the turtles and moderately injured those who were closest despite the tough defenses of these Monsters.
But this wasn't the end of the chain attack, as Alfred in the sky unleashed a timely howl.
Malefic Roar!
"Locked on perfectly," John grinned as his soul energy fluxed and compressed, using 80% of his Soul energy and transforming into a raging black beam with a sparkling crimson stream.
Shader Beam!
The stunned turtles could do nothing as the beam tore through one, killing it instantly before severely injuring a second Ice Flower Turtle.
"Holy shit," Max shouted in shock.
"So powerful..." Yuna's eyes glimmered.
Pymon used Razor Tide, shooting six small, circular, spinning razors of utter sharpness that finished off the severely injured Ice Flower Turtle before retreating.
"Hell yeah!" Max cheered while grinning. "It's so fun to launch strategic combo moves when you have more than one Pet. I can't wait to get my second one, and I already know what I want."
John took back Alfred and Pymon as they turned into ethereal lights and vanished into John.
"Your turn now."
The remaining two Turtles furiously charged at them, unleashing a burst of icy spikes.
Yuna's Sun Fox appeared as its three tails lit up with three big fireballs that blocked and neutralized the icy spikes.
At the same time, Max's Primate closed in with a Quack Stride + combo move: Monster Jump before unleashing a Meteor Punch, shooting right on top of an Ice Flower Turtle.
Boom!
John saw the true point-blank impact damage of this move, and he had to admit it could knock out his Ravenous Hound if struck.
The Ice Flower Turtle's shell shattered with that punch and bore through it as it died instantly.
The last Ice Flower Turtle glowered as it unleashed four icy-green vines toward nearby Primate, who skillfully dodged by jumping away.
Ice Flower Turtle wanted to follow up, but it paused upon sensing rapidly increasing heat towards it.
Before it could do anything else, a raging vortex of flame enveloped it as Sun Fox arrived like a flaming beam, using a powerful skill—Flame Vortex.
"Nice," Max laughed.
"Good job, Rayray," Yuna smiled as the Sun Fox returned to her.
Max also called back Maxon.
The trio's eyes went to the price, but John coughed loudly as Yuna and Max looked at him.
"Actually, I want three fruits."
"What?" Max frowned. "Come on, bro."
Yuna blinked and said, "Do you even know about these fruits? Because I have no idea."
John looked at the tree and said, "They are Silver-rank Fruits of mixed attributes. But putting that aside, I am willing to pay for the third fruit."
"You were also going to sell it eventually, no?"
Max rubbed his chin. "Well, these fruits don't seem useful for my Maxon, but they are Silver-rank fruits, and there's a big price gap between different Silver-rank resources. I don't know the price of these fruits."
"Wait, do you even have any money, John?" Yuna said and rolled her eyes. "I'm sure you don't have any money."
John reached into his pocket and took out two Bronze Essence Coins and one Silver Essence Coin.
The main currency was these coins made from the Spirit Crystals, which grew in Spirit Veins. Spirit Crystals were husks that could transform into Essence Coins depending on the grade of Spirit Crystals.
Bronze-grade Spirit Crystals into Bronze Essence Coins, Silver-grade Spirit Crystals into Silver Essence coins, and so on.
But these were not just currencies to buy things. These coins were also absolutely necessary to upgrade both Tamers' and Pets' Soul Cores, a necessary ingredient in ranking up.
"I thought I was poor, but you are poorer," Max wryly smiled, seeing the coins in John's hand.
"Whatever I earned by doing jobs, I always spent on getting stronger," John closed his fist that held the coins and put them back in his pocket.
Yuna bit her lips and said, "I'll give you my fruit. My Sun Fox doesn't need it anyway. You can pay me later."
Max's jaw dropped as he looked at Yuna. "Are you some rich family's daughter or what? These fruits could go as high as several hundred Silver Essence Coins or even some Gold Essence Coins depending on their impact on known Monsters' evolution paths."
Yuna snorted at him and said, "I said he can pay me back later. Why do you care? It's my fruit."
Max felt a blow in his chest and sighed. "Fine."
John smiled and nodded at Yuna. "Thanks. I'll definitely pay you back."
"Yeah, yeah. I know. Now, let's take these fruits."
