Journey to the West: Starting by taking Sun Wukong as my disciple!-Chapter 744 - 743: The Uneasy Six Ears
"Oh no! Oh my! Look at my head, I completely forgot that I put wine in that flask."
Given that, Xuanzang couldn’t drink it either. He placed the alms bowl on the ground and then moved it further away, but this was futile, after all, the scent of Peach Blossom Fragrance lingered around his nose, which wouldn’t disappear just by pushing it a bit further.
"You just clearly said it was a flask of wine!" Six-Eared Macaque caught a hold in Chen Nuo’s words, "What exactly do you intend to do?"
Chen Nuo had indeed forgotten just then; he remembered that the Tang Monk was a monk and couldn’t drink wine only after pouring it.
"I’m really sorry, I forgot that master is a monk and cannot drink alcohol, this is my fault." Chen Nuo said, "I will pour out the wine now and refill it with water for master."
"It’s no trouble at all, I will later..." Xuanzang wanted to say a few polite words, but Chen Nuo didn’t wait for him to speak again; he had already taken the alms bowl and poured out the contents inside onto the ground, refilling it with water.
"Young master, please don’t be angry, I really forgot about it, look, I’ve already changed your master’s water." Chen Nuo said.
"You’re following us not just to see the people of Chang’an, are you?" Six-Eared Macaque suddenly blurted out such a sentence without thinking.
Indeed, his own behavior had been too obvious, so it was not surprising that Six Eared Macaque could see through him.
"Haha, young master, what are you talking about? I really did want to come and see." Although Sun Wukong had exposed him, Chen Nuo did not admit it directly to him.
Six-Eared Macaque was already convinced that the person opposite was lying. After noticing something was off about this person, Six-Eared Macaque had been sensing the two people opposite, but he hadn’t uncovered anything.
The two opposite seemed to be ordinary people, but if they were ordinary people, why would they be so attentive to them? It really didn’t make sense.
When Xuanzang heard Six-Eared Macaque talk to someone like that, his face turned a bit sour. He looked at Six-Ears, "Wukong, why speak to the donor like that? Apologize quickly!"
Six-Eared Macaque’s suspicions weren’t entirely baseless, but since the person opposite hadn’t shown his hand yet, even though he was somewhat reluctant, he could only apologize to Chen Nuo.
"I apologize, donor. I didn’t mean to doubt you, it’s just that on the way here with my master, we might encounter many bad people. Being vigilant is necessary."
"It’s fine, it’s fine, I understand." Chen Nuo said with a smile, waving his hand, "It’s good to be a bit vigilant, indeed, you can meet many people on the road, and without vigilance, it wouldn’t be okay."
Chen Nuo was using a disguise right now, their forms were the same as before, but their faces had been adjusted to have the unique facial features of the locals.
This was also the reason Six-Eared Macaque only suspected their intentions but din’t doubt whether they were locals.
Even though he had apologized, Six-Eared Macaque did not let down his guard against Chen Nuo.
"You are locals, and my master and I have just arrived here. Although you have already given us food, I would like to trouble you, could we perhaps stay at your house tonight?" Six-Eared Macaque asked.
He didn’t just want to stay with them; the most important reason was to investigate them thoroughly, to see if they really had any intentions.
Chen Nuo was not particularly troubled, he readily nodded, "Of course you can, but there really isn’t much at my house, so please don’t disdain its simplicity when you come over."
Sha Wujing was slightly surprised, but it was only for a moment; he knew Chen Nuo would certainly be able to find a place to stay.
After Xuanzang finished eating, Chen Nuo and Sha Wujing led the master and disciple duo to their house.
Since Chen Nuo had decided to get close to Xuanzang, it was natural he had come prepared; he had bought the house long ago, and even managed to give it a lived-in atmosphere.
There wouldn’t be a feeling of just entering someone else’s house; instead, it felt like entering someone else’s home.
Arriving home, Xuanzang looked at the vast estate of several hundred acres and incredulously glanced at Xuanzang. This was what he referred to as a house with nothing? If this was nothing, then what were ordinary people’s homes?
As Chen Nuo entered, people outside had already come to greet them. Seeing Chen Nuo bringing guests, they promptly approached, "Master is home. Who are these two?"
"I met these two masters on the road, they are on a Journey to the West for Scriptures. They’ve come to stay for a few days. Make sure to host them well, they are ascetics. Taking good care of them will earn us Merit Points," Chen Nuo said with a smile to the servants.
"Really? We have met the two masters. Rest assured, during your stay with us, we will take very good care of you," the servant said, bowing to Xuanzang.
"It’s no trouble at all," Xuanzang also hurriedly said, "My disciple and I are just here to stay for a while, there’s no need for any special treatment, just a place to sleep is fine."
"How could we not? Since the master has given the instruction, we will certainly take good care of you," the servant insisted and tried to help Xuanzang with his luggage, only to be stopped by the Six-Eared Macaque.
Because the Six-Eared Macaque moved to stop him so swiftly, the scene suddenly turned awkward, and those unaware of the context might wonder what they were doing.
Xuanzang didn’t want strangers to help with the luggage either and was planning to decline the offer, but unlike the Six-Eared Macaque’s blunt intervention, he would have refused more tactfully.
"Oh, it seems that these belongings are very precious and can’t be handled by others. I am truly sorry, master," the servant quickly apologized.
Xuanzang felt he was the one who should be apologizing. He glanced at the Six-Eared Macaque and promptly apologized to the servant, "I’m sorry. My disciple is naturally suspicious. He was just concerned that these things shouldn’t be touched by outsiders and didn’t consider much else."
He was about to insist that the Six-Eared Macaque apologize as well, but the latter had already done so. Thus he did not dwell on the issue any longer; an apology had been made, after all.
That night, both men settled down in the house, where two side rooms had already been arranged for them.
Xuanzang was already asleep, but the Six-Eared Macaque couldn’t sleep. He got up, stealthily left the side room, and leaped onto the roof to survey the situation around.
Inside his room, Chen Nuo had already cast magic over the entire house. Unless someone’s realm was higher than his, it would be impossible for them to detect this formation.
The Six-Eared Macaque, whose realm didn’t even surpass Sha Wujing’s, let alone Chen Nuo’s, probed around the house, trying to find out what kind of livelihood the homeowner had.
The servants here looked like ordinary ones, without any guards or the like, suggesting they were not government officials. Since they were not officials, living in such a house meant they must be in business.
However, it was unclear what business they were in. The Six-Eared Macaque began to move through various rooms in search of clues to what kind of business the household was running.
