Chapter 405: Who was worth it?

Mo Liang was a like a caged beast after being returned to his cell and locked in because the guards thought he could use a moment to calm down. But how could he keep calm in the face of the news he had just received?

His life was getting worse while Jingzhe’s continued to soar! How was it fair? Not only was the bastard a billionaire but he had got the full approval of the Jun’s and the royal family.

Mo Liang thought about the conversations which he had heard along the way as he was dragged back into his cell. Jun Meilin was going to pay a bride price for Jingzhe.

He sneered at the thought. What had his bastard brother done to deserve a bride price? Why wasn’t the same treatment given to him when he married Meilin. The Jun’s were hypocrites.

They always mad it seem like they didn’t want him for their daughter because he was greedy and scheming. In reality, it was because they loved the rich and despised the poor. It was the only thing that explained why Jingzhe had won them over without trying.

They had known about his billions and decided he was worthy.

"Pei!" He made a scoffing sound. What was so worthy about his bastard brother? At the end of the day, his blood was dirty. He was the son of a mistress. They could coat him in gold if they wished and turn his blood into silver but facts were facts, he was a bastard.

Mo Liang shook his head. He could not stay in prison, he needed to be released as soon as possible and claim everything that was his. Now that Space M was gone, Blue Galactic could take its place.

It was a bigger and better company whose influence in space business was large. Their pilots were daring, arrogant and rich. Their skills were unmatched and reputation sparkling. Who else could make a better CEO of the company besides him, a former astronaut?

Jingzhe was a kid playing in the big boys field and he needed to be removed like the bug he was.

"Guard, I want to make a phone call." He shouted.

No guard came.

The entourage walked out of the private terminal with the kind of flair and scent only endless generational wealthy could produce. One very large family, nannies, a private chef, bodyguards and of course, the pets which were regal in their diamond and gem studded collars.

With two princesses and prime minister in their midst, the Australian royal family was not taking chances. They had secret agents watching and waiting. Police presence at the airport was heavy, just like when an Emperor was expected to visit.

The news of the vacation had long been leaked and reporters were already outside, hoping for a chance to interview any of the princesses. Some paparazzo were hoping to get the scandalous money shot. If not, the embarrassing one.

But these were not the kind of people to be embarrassed in public. The many etiquette classes they had taken saw to that.

Only Jun Mingzhu was doing something scandal worthy. She was sitting on a small suitcase and Black Guard was pushing it from behind.

In the eyes of some people, it was seen as something scandalous but for many, it was adorable and those who could took pictures from a distance.

As soon as their feet touched the tarmac, a fleet of flying cars descended. The cars had been provided by the royal family and they had chosen the latest flying pods which looks like sleek white eggs with human like feet.

Not the most reassuring design, in Mei Mei’s opinions. The cars kind of looked like eggs walking on clouds in the air.

"Isn’t this the design we discard at Sunning motors last year?" Su Manchu asked.

"Shush." Princess Rize pinched Manchu.

Manchu winced.

They saw a camera flash and smiled. Manchu was however reaching back with her hand to pinch Rize back. So, they started childishly slapping each other from behind.

Grandma Chi was hissing at them both as they were daughters-in-law and they were embarrassing her in front of grandma Jun. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

The flashes became brighter as Australian Princess Madrine Weatherby stepped out of her car to welcome them. She hugged Rize like they were long lost friends. Then she hugged Mingzhu and pulled her forward to take a picture of just them, princesses.

She had come with her son, Wilhelm and the boy was looking curiously at Mingzhu.

"Are you a princess?" the boy asked her in Chinese.

Mingzhu nodded. She had seen foreign children at her school that spoke her language. The young prince was not special in that feat.

"Is your mommy a queen?" He asked, looking at Rize.

Mingzhu shook her head. "That’s mommy." she pointed at Mei Mei. "She is not a princess but my grandmother is one."

Everyone was watching the interaction as if something magical was happening. Wilhelm was confused in the meantime. If Mingzhu was not the daughter of a queen, then her father was not the Emperor. Why then was she a princess?

He looked at his mother that had told him to get along with the little princess. Had she made a mistake? Did she mean the older princess?

Rose was chuckling as she found the encounter amusing. She looked at Mei Mei and said, "Looks like little Wilhelm is struggling to understand why Mingzhu is a princess. Our mom is a princess and your daughter is a princess. Royalty skipped a generation when it came to your turn."

Mei Mei rolled her eyes. "I could have been Empress if I wanted to. Never forget that."

Her phone buzzed. A call was coming in from Jingzhe and she figured he missed her already and he was checking to see if they had landed safely.

"Your impatience never...." she started and stopped abruptly.

The smile on her face dipped for a moment. No words came from her, just "mmmm" sounds. Then, she ended the call and put her phone back in the handbag.

"Bad news." Rose asked.

"Old Mo, the patriarch of the Mo family is dead. Because he is Mingzhu’s grandfather, he thought that I should know." She clenched her teeth and turned her eyes to her daughter who was showing Wilhelm pictures of all her parts via hologram.

"What a bum way to start a vacation." Rose said softly. "Are you going to tell her?"

Mei Mei shook her head. "They were not that close. When we return to the empire, I will have her leave some flowers at his grave. Not because he was nice to her but because he gave her a longevity lock on her first birthday." She exhaled. The old man was the only one in that family that ever gave Mei Mei a birthday gift.

His death was unexpected.

"They have had a bad year those Mo’s." Rose said, eyes also focused on Mingzhu. "Maybe you should not tell Mingzhu at all. She is a Jun after all. Nothing about the Mo family concerns her. It will be best for her if she forgets them completely and all the misery they brought her."

Mei Mei sighed. Maybe Rose was right. She wondered if Mo Liang was aware of the news. If he was, he was probably blaming this on her somehow.
