Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday-Chapter 408: Not in my bed
The vacation was going as planned for everyone and so far, three days had passed. While everyone was touring the city, sunbathing, swimming, fishing and playing games, Mei Mei was training really hard. For her, it was more important that she win the second race even more than the first one.
She did not want her victory at the vermilion derby to be called a fluke. That would be worse than winning second place because she would be a clown that returned to the world of racing just to embarrass herself.
So, she trained intensely with focus, not feeling sad about all the fun she was missing out on during the first half of the day. In the evenings, she got to join everyone else and have fun.
She was doing her training at the private stables owned by the Smith family, old family friends that were American. They were wealthy and owned a vast farm in Australia with large stables and a treacherous trail that was just perfect for Mei Mei’s training.
The best part of it all was that there were no nosy eyes watching her and judging while plotting against her. There were also no distractions as nobody joined her in the training....that was until today. Junjie suddenly showed up on the back of a horse in the last ten minutes and raced her.
He had just lost and he was sulking about it.
"Here." Mei Mei handed him a candy like she was coaxing a young kid.
He took it, unwrapped and put it his mouth. And still, he continued to sulk. In response, she rolled her eyes and dismounted. Taking the reigns of her horse, she started leading him to a pond to quench his thirst.
Junjie followed her actions and he led the horse he had been riding to the pond.
"When did you arrive?" Mei Mei asked him.
He looked at his watch. It was 12:40 a.m. "Two hours and twenty minutes ago. I dropped off the girls and Zhenzhen with my aunt and came over to join you."
Mei Mei’s eyes widened. She dropped down on the grass and crossed her legs. The conversation which was to proceed needed to be had in a comfortable sitting position. "Oh boy! Why must you always start trouble?"
Junjie sat down beside her. He snapped his fingers in the air, signalling for a royal attendant to bring them some snacks. "What kind of trouble are you talking about?"
She crossed her finger through the air like she was erasing something. "No, let me adjust my words. Why must you allow scandal to follow you? It is bad enough that you took Zhenzhen home and she slept...."
"Not in my bed." He shouted quickly and without necessity.
Mei Mei sneered, "Junjie, your royal agents gossip more than old women in a knitting club. Besides, my brother is the Imperial commander and since childhood, I have had the habit of spying on him. So I know she slept in your bed. Don’t think about lying to me."
Junjie groaned as if he was unwilling. His neck twisted from side to side and he exhaled. "Okay fine, I will admit that she slept in my bed but it was not all night. She put Wen and Shuang to bed and then stayed with my mother for some hours. Later, she came to bid me goodnight and I invited her into my bedroom for a cup of coffee...."
Mei Mei snorted. "Coffee at 2:00 a.m!!"
Thunder Muyang let out a snort like sound as well which sent Mei Mei into high pitched giggles.
"See, even my horse does not believe you. You don’t drink coffee at that time of the night unless you are working overnight." She leaned toward his, eyebrows dancing mischievously. "Did you work overnight?"
He pushed her head away with a finger. "Get your head out of the gutter Jun Meilin, I have no idea what you are talking about. If by work overnight you are making a sexual reference then the answer is no. Nothing of the sort happened between us. We just fell asleep while we were talking."
She nodded slowly. "Okay."
There was a slight raised pitch in her voice which conveyed doubt. Junjie had known her long enough to understand that she did not believe him.
"We really just slept...like sleep, sleep. Close your eyes and relax your entire body kind of sleeping." He assured her. "Visit dreamland and either see something good or have a nightmare kind of sleep."
"I get it." She cut in. "You just slept and drooled all over her hair."
"I do not drool." He protested loudly, immediately.
Mei Mei laughed again, enjoying the teasing that she was applying like butter on bread.
The wind rustled by, carrying some dry leaves which brushed by them. One got stuck in Mei Mei’s hair, settling over the childish shiny hair band which was holding her hair high in a ponytail.
Junjie noticed it and he smiled slyly. Since she was teasing him, he would not warn her.
The attendants he had gestured to earlier brought a picnic blanket and some baskets. Everything was set down and arranged carefully.
One of them took a picture of the pair and then they walked away to give them privacy.
"Why did she take a picture?" Mei Mei asked curiously as she reached out for a can of chips.
"She works for the media department of the royal family. I promote your businesses for you and you promote my image as the most amazing best friend in the world. When that picture is posted, it will say that in the midst of my political tour, I took time to surprise my best friend with a picnic during her training and I am rooting for her to win."
She scoffed before sending six whole chips into her mouth.
Junjie rolled his eyes to the heavens, seeking their intervention. Mei Mei’s snack eating habits really needed to be improved.
With food, she ate one morsel at a time. When it came to snacks, she was like a barbarian. He opened a soda for her and put it in one of her hands. "I probably shouldn’t be saying this but you are supposed to be on a diet during training. That is why I brought fruit and a variety of healthy snacking options."
He gestured to the sliced fresh fruits, herbal tea, wheat bread and sugar free cookies.
Mei Mei’s eyes were more focused on the ice cream, wine, and other snacks. With C4 what worry did she have about gaining weight? She sighed and stretched her legs. "You have to dial it back Junjie. The Zhenzhen business, you are moving too fast and being too open."
