Last Wizard King's SSS-Level Magic system in Modern World-Chapter 119: Spread my name- Part 2
Chapter 119: 119: Spread my name- Part 2
Liam stepped out of the dungeon, stretching his shoulders as he adjusted to the warm afternoon sunlight. It felt strange, almost unnatural, to step out of a battlefield and into the ordinary world so seamlessly.
The air smelled fresh, untainted by blood or magic, and the bustling town in the distance was filled with the sounds of daily life.
If someone had told him just hours ago that he’d be turning a group of traffickers into his subordinates, he would have laughed.
"Are we finally going home? Because I’m starving, and I deserve a feast after my victory. "
Asger huffed from his perch on Liam’s shoulder
Liam rolled his eyes.
"Your victory?"
Asger flicked his tail against Liam’s cheek.
"Of course! Who do you think those fools bowed to? Me, obviously."
Liam sighed but didn’t argue. It wasn’t worth it.
He started making his way back to the estate where Elder Elias was waiting.
The old man had taken him in when no one else would, and though Liam kept his distance emotionally, he still showed Elias the respect he deserved.
As he walked up the stone steps leading to the grand doors of the estate, he felt the weight of exhaustion settle in.
Despite the thrill of battle, his body was worn out, and his mind was still trying to process everything that had happened.
Before he could even knock, the door creaked open, and Elder Elias stood before him, his usual calm smile in place.
"Back already? How did your day go?"
Elias asked, his wise, dark eyes observing Liam closely.
Liam hesitated for only a moment before deciding to lie.
"Nothing too crazy. Just a run-in with a trafficker who tried to go after Asger, but we handled it."
Elias raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? Just one?"
Liam smirked.
"Alright, maybe more than one. But it wasn’t anything I couldn’t deal with."
Before Elias could question him further, Asger puffed out his chest.
"It was glorious! Liam—you mean, I—made those traffickers into my subordinates!"
Liam sighed, shaking his head.
"Right. That’s totally how it happened."
Elias made an amused face, nodding as if entertained by the conversation. He didn’t press Liam for more details, though Liam had a feeling the elder saw right through his half-truths.
After a moment, Elias hummed thoughtfully and changed the subject.
"By the way, could you fetch Bianca for dinner? She’s been locked in her room all day, and I’d rather not have her skip another meal."
Liam shrugged.
"Sure."
Liam headed upstairs toward Bianca’s room, his footsteps light against the polished wood floor. He and Bianca had never been particularly close, but they had a mutual understanding of keeping to themselves.
Still, he wasn’t about to let her skip dinner, not when Elder Elias had specifically asked him to bring her down.
As he reached her door, however, he froze.
A strange noise was coming from inside.
It was a deep, humming sound, layered with whispers—soft but urgent. It sent a chill down Liam’s spine, triggering an instinctual warning in his gut.
He hesitated for a moment, debating whether he should turn back and report this to Elias. But curiosity got the better of him.
He reached for the doorknob and pushed the door open.
The moment he stepped inside, a swirling mass of black smoke shot toward him.
Liam barely had time to react. He leaped backward, dodging just as Bianca yelled—
"Don’t let it escape!"
His heart pounded as he caught sight of Bianca standing in the middle of the room, her hands glowing with magic.
The smoke entity twisted in the air, writhing like a living creature. Liam had no idea what it was, but instinct told him it was something dangerous.
Without wasting a second, he summoned his magic.
Ice formed in the air, weaving together in a lattice of crystalline bars, creating a cage around the smoke. The entity slammed against the frozen walls, but it was trapped.
Bianca let out a breath of relief.
"Nice timing."
Liam narrowed his eyes.
"What the hell was that?"
Bianca wiped sweat from her forehead, looking more annoyed than frightened.
"Something I was trying to contain. You kind of messed that up by barging in."
Liam crossed his arms.
"You’re welcome, by the way."
Bianca scoffed, but she didn’t argue. She studied the trapped smoke, her expression unreadable.
Liam, however, wasn’t letting this go so easily.
"Mind explaining what this thing is and why it’s in your room?" he asked.
Bianca hesitated. She glanced at the smoke, then at Liam, as if debating whether to tell him the truth.
Finally, she sighed.
"It’s... complicated."
Liam gave her a flat look. "Try me."
Bianca ran a hand through her hair, her frustration evident.
"It’s a summoned entity. Not exactly a demon, not exactly a spirit. More like a—manifestation of magic gone wrong."
Liam frowned.
"You summoned it?"
She crossed her arms.
"Not intentionally. I was experimenting with some old texts, and, well... let’s just say things got out of hand. Ugh, I hate this class. This never goes right for me."
Liam glanced at the smoke, which was still thrashing inside its icy prison.
"And what was it trying to do?"
Bianca hesitated again before muttering, "Escape. Or maybe... possess something."
Liam’s stomach dropped slightly.
"Possess what?"
Bianca shifted uncomfortably.
"Me." freёnovelkiss-com
Liam’s expression darkened.
"And you were just casually dealing with this on your own?"
Bianca shot him a glare.
"I had it under control."
Liam gestured at the ice cage.
"Yeah, sure. Clearly."
She sighed, rubbing her temples.
"Look, I appreciate the help, but this is my problem to deal with. I don’t need you running to Elder Elias about it."
Liam studied her carefully.
She was serious—determined, even. He had known Bianca to be reckless, but there was something more to this.
Finally, he nodded.
"Fine. I won’t say anything... for now."
Bianca raised an eyebrow.
"For now?"
Liam smirked.
"Depends on whether or not you screw up again."
She rolled her eyes but seemed relieved.
Asger, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up from Liam’s shoulder.
"This place is always so dramatic. I swear, you humans love making things complicated."
Liam sighed.
"Welcome to our world, Asger. Also, stop complaining. You love drama the most here."
With that, he turned to the caged entity.
"Now, let’s figure out what to do with this thing before it causes even more problems."
Bianca nodded, and for the first time in a long time, Liam found himself working alongside her.
